Just curious what everyone's thoughts are. JPP is one of the many core guys in Tampa with an expiring contract.
I don't think they'll be able to pull a miracle and resign most of them again.. doubtful many of them are going to give TB another discount to try and make a run.
JPP is 33, has been a good productive role player for them as a 3-4 edge player and really revitalized his career...but he may be an easy one to let walk, considering they have far more important players that they'll have to try to re-sign.
Does he retire? New team? Howd you feel for a Giants reunion on the cheap? Thoughts.
He has a torn rotator cuff. I can’t imagine playing football through that.
JPP has also played through a number of grueling injuries, and his desire to be and stay on the field is beyond reproach. His weight gain the two seasons with the Giants came after offseasons where he was unable to train.
Getting back on the field after the hand injury, and then playing 90%+ snaps in the following years was incredible.
JPP is up there with Tuck and Osi in every meaningful measure.
The one stat that always blows my mind is JPP is 5th in team in passes defensed. JPP knocked down 4 fewer passes than Jason Sehorn who played corner for 100 games as a Giant.
On one end, we scream "we need an outside voice and new, fresh ideas!"
and then on the other side, we get threads asking for JPP and Pat Shurmur back.
It ended, it's over, and we need to move on. It wouldn't make sense to come back at this point in his career if he wants a ring.
a) a final payday
b) a final shot at a ring
c) a and b
He should not be getting a here, and is a very far cry from b.

Relax I don't think anyone necessarily wants JPP back, at least I don't. Hes clearly engrained in our franchises history, so I decided to start a discussion.
I'm leaning towards him retiring, given his injury history and just went out as a 2 time champ...was curious what everyone else's thoughts were on a former Giant with quite a history.
If it bothers you, don't click.
I doubt it, but TB only has a year left on his deal, and the cap hit is very manageable. Maybe if Tampa decides to go into full rebuild mode, but my guess is that they will try to make one more run.
SF would be an interesting landing spot for him though. One year deal to give Trey Lance a chance to learn behind the GOAT, and a roster stacked for a SB run with good QB play.
I think Bucs are going to try and get younger. They'll likely shed Suh and JPP.
Let Vea/Tryon and another cheaper vet fill in.
Giants essentially gave up on him and traded him. I don't see him wanting to come back and I don't think it makes sense for the Giants, but "fuck him?" What did he ever do yo you?
