But seemed a bit more green to me than Schoen or Peters. I hope they bring in someone good for Fields as OC. Maybe if not Bienemy for HC, maybe he makes a lateral move where he's out from under Andy's shadow.

Would Bienemy in Chicago give the Chiefs more draft picks?
there is no stand out in that division if/when Aaron Rodgers retires. He was my 3rd choice for the Giants based on the current landscape at 1925 Giants Way. I thought having someone his age without a multi team resume would have no idea what he was walking into with the Giants who have people in their front office that have been employees since almost before he was a teenager.
Adam Peters was my 1st choice (I believe he's been responsible for the 49ers drafts and I had hoped the Giants would be interested in some of the their staff as potential HCs) but I'm happy to be rooting for Schoen (more experience rebuilding a front office than Peters, in the room for the upgrade in Buffalo's talent although not in charge, promoted by Bill Parcells who has always had a good eye for good people. From the outside he seems ready for the job.
I'm not a fan of Daboll, no HC experience at any level (the Giants just did that), no history of any kind of innovative offensive schemes, and Josh Allen isn't coming with him. But I wanted Charlie Weis not Tom Coughlin. Let's hope my eye for HCs has not improved since 2004 and Daboll is great. If he's the guy I'll 100% support him and hope he can recruit a great staff and develop players. Joe Judge did neither of those things.

I find myself agreeing with almost everything you write
That's awesome for Poles and should be taken as sign
that Giants nailed the GM hiring process this time. How many of the guys the Giants interviewed in 2017 even got an offer to apply to an open GM position? We know Louis Riddick has gotten shut out so far.
than 20%....and I define successful as either winning a Super Bowl andor getting a 2nd multi-year contract.
It's not quite the NBA, but there are currently 9 HC positions and 4 GM spots open, with a likelihood of a 5th (Jax) right after the draft.
The odds are dramatically stacked against Poles (and Schoenfeld for that matter) working out long term. At 36, it can't be higher than 10% chance of success.
Chicago has been interviewing head coaching candidates and they've had their finalist before hiring Poles. Polian has had more of a role in picking the next head coach than Poles. From what's going around it's down to Quinn or Caldwell. Also, McCaskey is known to be difficult to work for.
But Bieniemy has become the poster boy for whenever someone wants to bring up the NFL as an old boys' club that doesn't give black HC candidates opportunities. If a black GM whose team Bieniemy coached for doesn't get the job will we perhaps think he may not be a great candidate, rather than something being wrong with the NFL

From my understanding the consensus is more about his troubles with the law previously and drinking problems.
Jim Caldwell is interviewing today
No doubt in my mind Polian is pushing Caldwell hard from Colts connections.
Polian pushed him hard to Lions when he consulted there too on searches.
Other side to that, is if you nail it, it’s a long end game
That ain't nothing.
Good, I was worried a depleted team like the Chiefs wouldn't get more picks, good for them, very cool. Lets hope a team hires Graham away from us.

I also like that he played at a high level.

age scared me. 36 is very young to run a team.

Theo Epstein did pretty well for the Red Sox when he was like 29. A little different situation, but....

I wonder who he (they) bring in as HC? Bienemy?

Bill Polian informed their search. Bill Polian was the GM for Caldwell in Indy.
If Caldwell is the head coach, I doubt Poles did the hiring.

get a comp 3rd round pick in each of the next 2 drafts for this hiring
That ain't nothing.
Yep, nice bonus just for making a valid quality hire...

sucks for them.
LOL, you beat me to it :)
Yes, they did.

A Rico sighting!! You have been very quiet during these GM and HC searches
