Yandle's streak began in his third NHL season, on March 26, 2009. For his career, Yandle has now played in 1,075 games with the Phoenix/Arizona Coyotes, New York Rangers, Florida Panthers and the Flyers, who signed him as a free agent last offseason. |
I remember he was benched by Quenneville in the playoffs, and I thought he was going to get benched in the regular season last year until an injury came up?
and they still have 11 more points than Montreal. lol.
Yeah, that is a crazy impressive stat, especially for something as physical as hockey, and with COVID going on.

earlier this year and then losing another 13 in a row.

WTF is going on up there?
+1.
Congratulations, Keith.

murphy's law. not sure where to start.
Before the season ever started:
1. They lost their captain (Shea Weber) likely for his career to injury
2. They lost their HOF goalie (Carey Price) to substance abuse.
3. They lost their best C (Danault) in free agency
4. They lost one of their up and coming wings (21 year old Jesperi Kotkaniemi #3 overall pick in the 2018 draft) to an offer sheet by the Hurricanes
5. Jonathan Drouin was still away from the team for mental health reasons
then the in-season injuries hit (this is as of 1/22)
They played a game earlier in January with 6 NHL players, the rest of the team was AHL players.
Plus...they weren't that good overall. They were probably a fringe playoff team with health and some puck luck, but when everything goes wrong it has a ripple effect.
Good year to be bad though IMO such a strong top 5 in this draft (and the next one).
the players went to bat for Yandle with Quennville and he changed his tune. Needless to say, Quennville knew what he was doing.
Incredible accomplishment.

almost benched him last January, but decided against it, not sure if it was injury or what, but I remember Quennville wasn't a huge fan of his.

Is that true? that's awesome, if it is (the players going to bat for Yandle)
