The Giants have done a terrible job supporting him. This does not mean that he does not recognizes he may not be the answer especially considering where they are as a franchise and that Jones is in year 4.

Half dozen teams could be guaranteed playoff contenders with Wilson for the rest of his career. Watson could do it for them for 1-2 years until he changes his personality or gets caught screwing up.
Neither one of them will make the Giants a consistent playoff team until the Giants fix their problems.

Y'know, it's certainly true that Jones played better as a rookie, fumbles aside, than he did last year. It does look like the team screwed him up, except maybe for cutting down on the turnovers. He used to be a playmaker with a lot of turnovers. In 2022 he was kind of nothing.
Anyone who has been a fan of this team for more than a week should know that the Giants would not trade for a player with unresolved legal issues involving multiple sexual assaults, no matter what the cost.

Don’t pay attention to what Mara says, it’s all lip service. Instead, pay attention to his actions. They fired DJ’s OC, his HC and decided to start a rebuild before he had a breakout season. They don’t believe in him, but they’re probably stuck with him next year. There’s no cap space to replace him and there’s too many holes elsewhere in the roster. The rebuild isn’t going to be complete in one offseason, 2022 is going to be a tank year. DJ is setup for failure in 2022, and will be out in 2023. All of Mara’s talk is just formalities and pretending to support the kid.
