they have something that can keep them in the NBA for 10 years and contribute, but the all lack something that takes them to another level, granted they are all young and still add it..
Grimes: a dribble drive game, finish at the rim, with how good of a shooter he is he should be able to blow by guys, he adds that, sky is the limit..
Rj: Fluid midrange and shoot of the dribble, a lot of times he goes to far when if he had amidrange it would help him..
Reddish: a consistent midrange, he has the handle, the aize, can finish at the rim, shoot the 3, but his midrange game is not great..He is a fluid athlete he has all the attributes if he can put it all together..
Obi: Needs a 3 point shot, he gets that he can be a dynamic scorer and a starter in this league for a long time..
Quickley: More control to his game, finishing at the rim needs an improvement, shot selection, and a more consistent 3 point shot, he can get hot but its not consistent..
Mitch: He is becoming unstoppable on the offensive glass, would be nice to have a midrange game and alittle smarter on defense
Love having to watch them crawl back from double digits every night.
Yep, same minutes distribution too.
Last year Randle was great - 38 minutes, Obi sucked - 10 minutes.
This year Randle sucks - 38 minutes, Obi’s improved - 10 minutes.
but Thibs needs to have some balls and play the young guys, he has to see that these guys play the way he wants, they play hard, fast and play defense..
He is not stupid
Does Thibs really need to have Randle touch the ball every
who Thibs seemingly refuses to play actual legit players who can be good starters down the road or are they more bench energy guys on a good team.
Thibs is a good coach but a poor fit for this group
Rj legit starter
Grimes legit starter
Quick combination
Obi combination
Reddish i think can be a legit starter but i am high on him
Mitch legit starter
Deuce Change of pace, lockdown defender
who Thibs seemingly refuses to play actual legit players who can be good starters down the road or are they more bench energy guys on a good team.
Probably the latter for most, but RJ and Grimes could start on good teams. Obi need to improve the three point shot to average 20ppg. I don’t see any perennial All-Stars though.

Cam could maybe start right now. Obi can turn into a starter but I do think he'd be less effective playing starter minutes. RJ is obvi a starter and everything should flow through him from now on.
I’m embarrassed to be a fan of this team and for the first time in a very long time, I did not turn on the game. Between the horrendous first quarters, Randle moping around the court and Thibs sitting with his hands over his ears, eyes and mouth — the team is maybe the worst to watch over the past 20 years. And with this franchise, that’s saying a lot. Knick management must make moves to stop this ugly, offensive basketball because if the don’t, they are going to lose their impressionable young players and their fans.

I think the difference now than in thr past is that this team at least has 6 or 7 young players that you can see have a future in this league..
guy you can get excited about, not necassarily going to be stars but you can see a foundation of young guys
Would you trade Randle, Kemba and Burks for porzingis and Brunson?
Worst case scenario porzingis opts in to his last year 2023/2024 players option, but still 2 years less than Randle albeit at a higher salary. There is a chance he could opt out for a longer term deal at that point or he could be tradable as an expiring. If you decide not to resign mitch he becomes your starting center. Then you run our Brunson, grimes, RJ and Reddish with OBi becoming your 6th man. I don’t think Obi and the zinger could be on the floor together.
I would jump at your hypothetical trade scenario. I am no fan of KP but Randle is single-handily destroying the culture of the club. His body language is awful, he can’t shoot anymore, and he is lazy on defense.

Think Dallas hangs the phone up in about .2 seconds.
A team in contact with the Knicks said Randle is available for the right price..
Also in Macri's newsletter he said players are frustrated with how some players are treated compared to others in the locker room. Apparently the front office was not happy with how Fournier reacted to the news of the Kemba benching.
Seems like players are getting sick of Randle as well
Gotta make some changes. I know Leon will do some stuff at the trade deadline. At this point, I kinda hope we just trade vets and let the kids play. Bring back the tank!

Depending on whats left and what is broight back in trades i dont think the team will tank like you think
I think there were a lot of questions during the offseason about why they chose to "run it back" by re-signing most of the core pieces from last year's playoff run and adding Fournier/Walker. It seemed like the line of thinking was that they wanted to stay competitive while also signing those guys to short term contracts that allowed them to remain flexible in the trade market.
Well, 40+ games in and it seems obvious that running it back wasn't such a good idea. It is pretty clear that outside of Rose when he is healthy, all of the vets that they allocated money to this offseason don't mesh with the young core that they have put together. I don't know what they have in Barrett, Toppin, Grimes, Quickley, Robinson, Reddish, etc. but I do know it's a group that's strengths and ideal style of play is something very different than the group of Randle, Walker, Fournier, Burks, and Gibson.
It's time to pivot, they need to do whatever they can to move on from the vets that are currently on the roster. Regardless of their poor play to start this year, Randle, Fournier, and Burks should still be able to net something of value in return. There is no reason to continue trotting this same lineup out there, and part of me wonders if the one of the reasons that Thibs continues to do it is because they feel by benching these guys it hurts their trade value.
Front office made a mistake this offseason, and it happens sometimes the way you think its going to go doesnt pan out, it happens..
The good front offices sees the mistakes and makes changes, the bad ones are stubborn and say it will work and not do anything becaise they are afraid to look bad..
It happens, the good news is it looks like they have drafted really well and they have some young guys on this roster that can start a foundation
Yeah I mentioned earlier this isn't the end of the world
as long as you don't compound the problem with panic moves. Randle is the only big issue that has to be dealt with - Knicks fans have seen enough guys check out on NY to know Randle has checked out on NY. Just deal him for a decent return, deal Burks for a future pick, and waive/bench Kemba if you can't find a trade partner for him.
I also agree with keeping Fournier - wouldn't surprise me at all to see him improve when the dead weight is gone. He's not some terrible player.
At this point, I don't even care how many games they win
I just want to enjoy watching the Knicks again for the second half of this season. I only tune in at this point to watch the young guys, and end up just getting pissed off watching Randle hijack the games.
Trot out a lineup of Quickley, Grimes, Barrett, Toppin, Robinson. Give McBride, Reddish, Sims significant minutes off the bench. Even if they only win 10 games the rest of the way, at least they will play an exciting, energetic brand of basketball that will be fun to watch.

+ a billion dude.
Totally want to see RJ as the focal point of this team with Grimes, IQ, Deuce, Cam, and Toppin getting their minutes.
That would be perfect imo. They'd add the perfect vet combination to our needs. Would allow Cam to pencil in as the backup 2-3. Let Obi come of the bench.
No reason to have Fournier, Burks, Randle, and Kemba on the team. Even Noel is an extra part we don't need right now.
i talked to my guy, he said it was the Kings, they want Randle, Knicks said Randle for Fox...Kings prefer something like Barnes and a pick for randle..
about Randle, Fournier and Noel for Westbrook, THT and the Lakers and Bulls 2nd round picks in 2023 (the first picks the Lakers can move). Westbrook has 1 year remaining. The Knicks could also buyout Westbrook before next season and build around RJ, Toppin, Reddish, THT, Mitch, McBride, IQ, Grimes and the Knicks would have 6 2023 2nd round picks.

Happy to hear this. It make sense for both teams.
It does make sense for both teams, I guess. I'd much rather Fox but ok. Crazy that it is already at this point. So hard to imagine Randle flaming out as quickly as he did but oof. He's fucking miserable here right now and watching him play is making me miserable too.

what i want to know is what happened, he lead the team in scoring 6 of the first 11 games and the team had energy..
then all of sudden it went downhill and hr looks miseable
I loved everything he did last year and watching him play. But I think it's too far gone at this point. They have to move him and get off that contract if they can.
Leon Rose had a terrible offseason. Randle extension, Noel contract, Fournier signings etc. He needs to be better and hasn't proven much as a GM yet. Would be nice to hear speak once in awhile too.
Last night was hard to watch. Starters clearly quit. It was only one play but it was hard to watch Barrett not go after Duncan Robinson 1v1 on a fast break.
Thibs has no choice at this point but to play some of the younger guys over the vets. They flat out give them a better chance to win.

I dont think you can really judge Rose yet, He gave out some team friendly deals to try and build off last uear and it hasnt worked..
He has made some good moves and some bad moves but nothing that has hamstrung them to the point of no return..
They have added quality young players with room for growth..
and anyonr of us would of given Randle that contract..
and I surely know less than most here, but it sure did feel last year like Randle was playing well above his ceiling. It felt like too many tough shots were falling too frequently.
Once that dries up, he's little more than a ball stopper.
Kind of surprising to hear that a team as bad as the kings has interest in him.
Randle has fallen. He's had one outlier of a year in his career. And that was last year. He hasn't fallen. He just reverted back to the player he has always been.
Randle has fallen. He's had one outlier of a year in his career. And that was last year. He hasn't fallen. He just reverted back to the player he has always been.
This isnt exactly true, he has been a good player throughout his career, last year he took it to another level..
has no idea what they are talking about. Rose did exactly what he and every other team would have done - try to lock up a young, improving all-star player. Coming off of his last season, it was a no brainer. How many times have you seen a player, across all sports, capitalize off of a great year? All the time. It’s always a risk, but one you have to take. No issues there.
It sucks that Randle has taken a step backwards, but that’s not what really bugs me. It’s his attitude. He talked a big game last season when things were going well and now when adversity hits, he can’t handle or overcome it. See ya. I have no room for low basketball IQ, drama filled, underperforming players. Especially when they are supposed to be a leader. Randle has to go.
when they are watching film, does anyone call him out? coaches, players anybody? I mean if you are Randle and you see yourself on video and you still dont change something is up..

Literally on Thibs. That's his job. Benching him would send a signal to the entire team.
and had plenty of characters on this team, but I don't recall a key guy just dogging it like this over an extended period of time - and not facing any repercussions.

He is playing like he is throwing games
The distance traveled and average speed are pretty damning
but even more so compared to Obi Toppin. You could have said maybe it had something to do with the position he plays and how he's asked to play defensively, but Toppin being on the total opposite end of the spectrum says otherwise.
i talked to my guy, he said it was the Kings, they want Randle, Knicks said Randle for Fox...Kings prefer something like Barnes and a pick for randle..
NY media is jumping on it, at this point I feel it's addition by subtraction.
Also Thibs is under fire which hopefully pushes him to change the lineups.

Toppin aside, he's getting out-worked by Old Man River Taj Gibson.
That think if a Randle trade happens it’s a three way deal that sends Brunson to the Knicks.
I think a fourth team would have to get involved, like Cleveland. Only real path to that I can see is:
To NY: Rubio, Barnes, Brunson, Kings Top Prot
To Sac: Randle
To Dal: Quickly and Cavs Protected First, Dallas Pick Knicks own
To Cle: Fournier
This would be something i would do in a second, i just dont see cavs taking Fournker
Could probably figure out it and make it Burks with Knicks sending Dallas their 1st back and Cavs sending a 2nd to Dallas. More cash would need to move around I think
the fan called wfan and explained what happened, he claims no cursing and all hr said was that Randle was a waste of 113 million and them in the 4th said he was a -34...
Alao Windhorst claims Knicks are trying to trade Kemba, Fournier and Burka to open up playing time for young players
They’ve just kept tabs on him so not sure, but would have to be one of them. I wonder if an Embid/Randle pairing could work and can work out something like Cj to Knicks, randle to Philly, Tobias to blazers

Randle is not long for NY @ this rate. LAL vs. 76ers tonight...should be a good one on TNT.

I hate to slightly defend Randle, but it's not fair to compare a bench guy to a starter on a lot of these metrics. If you know you're only gonna play 10-15 minutes every night, you can give much more energy than if you know it's going to be 35 minutes. Think of it like running different length races. The people in the longer races can't go as close to 100% (until the very end).
We have an all (second team) nba player that we can’t wait to run out of town. A guy we basically discovered and developed and were this close to scorched earth. It is a big deal, we’re just used to the shit show that is the Knicks.
We may get fair value in return but something tells me the player we get back won’t approach nba all second team.
Whatever works. I’m used to it. At least we have our picks!
I'd rather have Sabonis than Randle. He's a few years younger, isn't the headcase JR is, & similar talent. I think Sabonis would be a fan favorite in NY.
We may get fair value in return but something tells me the player we get back won’t approach nba all second team.
But do you think Randle will be a second team All-NBA player at any point going forward? I think it's safe to say we've already gotten the only great basketball we're going to get out of the guy, unfortunately.

Knicks have young players and a bunch of picks, the Knicks are not in the worst position in the world..
Fans are not running Randle out of town, he is doing it to himself..
I don't know what's going on with him. He pens the article in the Players Tribune waxing about he loves being a Knick & now he's giving the thumbs down-a FU to the fans-& having fans ejected? Is the $ & thus pressure getting to him? Perhaps. I am just ready to move on. I think it is best for all parties.
Maybe Randle wants another Most Improved Player Award

I expected the shooting numbers to come down, i expected the ppg to go down but this is more than that, this is just a lack of focus, lack of everything..
Something happened in that locker room where Randle basically said i dont care anymore and part of me thinka he has asked to be traded..
Its gotten so bad that i dont think he can be on the team post deadline..
You can see it is the young guys team, whether the vets or Thibs likes it, the young guys are taking over and they are the best players on this team..
Now the vets can support them and take a backseat to them or they can go the f away
I really don't want to include IQ in any deals either
If Lakers would take Randle Fournier, Burks and Kemba for westbrook and THT..i would do it..
Knicks could play the Kids with Rose and Gibson with westbrook..
Westbrook and Rj could bw your scorers with the pieces around them, Westbrook is best out in transition same with the young kids and westbrook can attack the paint that Thibs likes..
I don't even watch the games any more so you guys have
every right to tell me to shut the F up. But the Knicks did it again. They signed a guy to a huge long term contract after a good regular season with no fans (so not real NBA basketball) who got exposed in playoffs for what he really is before he got the contract and now they're screwed again. What a shock.

How are they screwed? First off any team would of signed Randle to that contract, it was an absolute steal even if he regressed a little bit, bo one saw this coming.
Second Kbicks have probably 6 or 7 young guys that they can either build for the future with or use in a trade for a star, Knicks have drafted really well..
Third they arent in cap hell, they have plenty of flexibility.
fourth they have something like 15 picks in 4 years, they have a ton of draft capitol..
I wouldnt say they are screwed at all, are they going to make the playoffs? probably not but their future isnt effected by this year..
and no i am not telling you to f off because you admit you dont watch
RE: I really don't want to include IQ in any deals either
saying one of his sources - he calls him “the plug” - told him two weeks ago the Knicks started putting Randle’s name out there in trade talks, and don’t be surprised if he’s dealt at the deadline or this summer.
CP also reminded everyone this front office was shopping Julius that first off-season prior to his breakout year.

I would be more surprised if he gets traded.
Also Thibs is not the right coach for the kids on this team, I don't think he has the patience or wants to coach a bunch of younger players.
They have a bunch of decisions to be made over the next 6 months that will determine the direction of the franchise.
Awesome. Mitch has been coming on lately. We could use his offensive boards and D.
Sounds like Mitch is playing...

Heat are playing at 100 mph
Knicks are 50mph.

Embarrassing
yeah - I just don't get it. I know we're just armchair warriors but how can you watch the games and not see what we're talking about?
yup then stuck into the corner for Burks to turn it over
Ita auch a joke
Meanwhile knicks are slow and rigid with Randle and gibson as the bigs
This is really the only option that makes nay sense . Build around RJ timeline, not Randle.
Plus trading Randle opens up the floor for Toppin, Rj, Reddish etc
imagine if they werent down 15 when they came in
Zero chance against Bucks, Nets or Bulls
This should be the lineup every night. Barrett looks so much better with Randle and Walker off the court. Fuck those two.
add a little athleticism and all of sudden you can get some easy baslets, of course Randle is coming in
Trade Randle, Kemba, and Fournier.
Let the current 5 be your team
If they don't do anything by the deadline, then I'll start going crazy. But it might just be one more week of this shit.

Too bad it will never happen.no way they move Randle.
He’s been killing them all night.
Big move coming, he says.
Trade all these guys and turn the team over to the kids . Keep Rose and Taj for Veteran experience in the locker room
Trade all these guys and turn the team over to the kids . Keep Rose and Taj for Veteran experience in the locker room
yup 100% Kods should be in the forefront, vets take a backseat
Jokic obliterates us every time. I dread Denver games more than any others.
and then flipping Fournier and Burks for picks. That'd be nice
This team is not winning anything this year move the vets and let the kids get all the burn
He is not stupid
The team is unwatchable when Randle is in the game.
The team is unwatchable when Randle is in the game.
I honestly think it is Randle hijacking the offense..
The second he is out the ball moves, the plays are faster..
He slows everything down
Mobley is a stud.
Mobley is a stud.
and they are doing it with young guys playing hard and together

100%
He says Randle looks miserable on the bench and is the only player from the team not talking to any teammates.
I honestly can't imagine anybody likes having him on the team at this point

I really wonder if he has asked for a trade
Sit his ass down
Better off throwing the ball in the stands and get back on defense
You just watch how the heat dont have the greatest players, they dont play big but they play fast, they play small and they make you work..
You notice your bigs getting pushed around by a smaller team..
Will Thibs survive?
Is Randle tradeable with his salary now?
I have watched very little this season and sounds like I havent missed much.

Only vets you keep are Rose and Taj they are good with the kids
Book it.

Last year if he didnt shoot well he at least played hard and defended..
Would really love to know what happened
trade and fire please

Thibs is a good coach but a poor fit for this group
Thibs is a good coach but a poor fit for this group
Rj legit starter
Grimes legit starter
Quick combination
Obi combination
Reddish i think can be a legit starter but i am high on him
Mitch legit starter
Deuce Change of pace, lockdown defender
Probably the latter for most, but RJ and Grimes could start on good teams. Obi need to improve the three point shot to average 20ppg. I don’t see any perennial All-Stars though.

who Thibs seemingly refuses to play actual legit players who can be good starters down the road or are they more bench energy guys on a good team.

Cam could maybe start right now. Obi can turn into a starter but I do think he'd be less effective playing starter minutes. RJ is obvi a starter and everything should flow through him from now on.
I think the difference now than in thr past is that this team at least has 6 or 7 young players that you can see have a future in this league..
guy you can get excited about, not necassarily going to be stars but you can see a foundation of young guys

Think Dallas hangs the phone up in about .2 seconds.
Also in Macri's newsletter he said players are frustrated with how some players are treated compared to others in the locker room. Apparently the front office was not happy with how Fournier reacted to the news of the Kemba benching.
Seems like players are getting sick of Randle as well
Depending on whats left and what is broight back in trades i dont think the team will tank like you think

Rj, Mitch, Grimes, Quick, Reddish, Toppin, Deuce, Rose, Gibson (as a vet not in the rotation), Fournier(if he comes off the bench), Sims.
Get rid of Randle, Kemba, Burks
With Fournier if you can trade him, trade him but i am not giving up assets to get rid of him
Well, 40+ games in and it seems obvious that running it back wasn't such a good idea.
The good front offices sees the mistakes and makes changes, the bad ones are stubborn and say it will work and not do anything becaise they are afraid to look bad..
It happens, the good news is it looks like they have drafted really well and they have some young guys on this roster that can start a foundation
I also agree with keeping Fournier - wouldn't surprise me at all to see him improve when the dead weight is gone. He's not some terrible player.

No reason to have Fournier, Burks, Randle, and Kemba on the team. Even Noel is an extra part we don't need right now.

Happy to hear this. It make sense for both teams.
Everyone knows my stance on Randle. Gotta get rid of him.
Team lacks heart. Complete 180 from lasts years team.

i talked to my guy, he said it was the Kings, they want Randle, Knicks said Randle for Fox...Kings prefer something like Barnes and a pick for randle..

Once that dries up, he's little more than a ball stopper.
Kind of surprising to hear that a team as bad as the kings has interest in him.
This isnt exactly true, he has been a good player throughout his career, last year he took it to another level..
but this year is something different...
He did not say that team had gotten in touch with the Knicks to ask about Randle.
There's a difference.

Literally on Thibs. That's his job. Benching him would send a signal to the entire team.
Burks for Kemba..
Thibs wouldnt even say the starters played bad yesterday, he basically said it was everyone
He is playing like he is throwing games
See where it goes
Can confirm this.
Kind of Like how Derozan and Lavine works, they are the 2 scorers and surrounded by shooters and defenders and 1 is on court at all times
Also Thibs is under fire which hopefully pushes him to change the lineups.

This would be something i would do in a second, i just dont see cavs taking Fournker
Toppin aside, he's getting out-worked by Old Man River Taj Gibson.

That think if a Randle trade happens it’s a three way deal that sends Brunson to the Knicks.

Could probably figure out it and make it Burks with Knicks sending Dallas their 1st back and Cavs sending a 2nd to Dallas. More cash would need to move around I think
Alao Windhorst claims Knicks are trying to trade Kemba, Fournier and Burka to open up playing time for young players
Packers are one.
For Sabonis or Turner?

They’ve just kept tabs on him so not sure, but would have to be one of them. I wonder if an Embid/Randle pairing could work and can work out something like Cj to Knicks, randle to Philly, Tobias to blazers

Randle is not long for NY @ this rate. LAL vs. 76ers tonight...should be a good one on TNT.
It wouldnt be Randle for Sabonis straight up...
Relax its not that big of a deal
I hate to slightly defend Randle, but it's not fair to compare a bench guy to a starter on a lot of these metrics. If you know you're only gonna play 10-15 minutes every night, you can give much more energy than if you know it's going to be 35 minutes. Think of it like running different length races. The people in the longer races can't go as close to 100% (until the very end).
The Cavs-the FUCKING Cavs-are 1.5 or something back of the #1 seed. Insane NBA season.

At least we have our picks!

but if the playoffs started today the 4/5 matchup in the East would be Brooklyn/Milwaukee. I would absolutely love that.

I mean Wiggins is an all star starter lol

I'd really rather include extra future picks than any of those guys.
Knicks could play the Kids with Rose and Gibson with westbrook..
Westbrook and Rj could bw your scorers with the pieces around them, Westbrook is best out in transition same with the young kids and westbrook can attack the paint that Thibs likes..
I'd really rather include extra future picks than any of those guys.
They’ve hung up the phone so far on any IQ involved deals
Also said teams are trying to get IQ thibking Knicks are desperate for a quick fix

Good. He and Grimes are probably attractive to other teams, but they should building blocks here.
CP also reminded everyone this front office was shopping Julius that first off-season prior to his breakout year.

Also said all the vets are up for sale
I would be more surprised if he gets traded.
Also Thibs is not the right coach for the kids on this team, I don't think he has the patience or wants to coach a bunch of younger players.
They have a bunch of decisions to be made over the next 6 months that will determine the direction of the franchise.
