what does that say about his faith in Joe Schoen. Daboll has worked with him for four years, he knows who is responsible for Buffalo’s success. If he think Schoen had a great part of it or is a great football mind wouldn’t it be in his best interest to link up with him in NY. In other words, if he chooses Miami how is that not at least some indictment of what he thinks of Schoen.
It might but I am concerned about if Daboll is choosing it as opposed to the NYG
Either way we aren't going to actually know the answer to that question if it did happen.
Yup, Mara'd.
I agree. His agent may be pushing him to Miami because he doesn't want to lose out on the opportunity to be a HC. He may have thought he would have been announced by now by NY. Might be nervous with all these second interviews and rumors.
It's not Joe Schoen's show.
We are guessing he might be good because he was exposed to the inner workings of a top organization.
I'm sure Daboll doesn't know if Schoen can make it work here. Remember 50% of GM hires from Super Bowl teams fail.
The giants have also fired the last 3 coaches after 2 years.
If we all agree that next year is a wash (I just don't see how we are competitive). He could maybe think he has 1 year to turn it around or his one and only shot to be a HC could be over.
Just making it up as you go along now?
Contrary to what many believe on here, many people want no part of moving to the tri-state area or raising their kids there.
If Miami offers first, and it appears they will, he will take the job. This has nothing to do with doubting Schoen, come on guys, that's a terrible poke at Schoen, NY Post like.
Schoen actually did build 85% of the roster in Buffalo, his scouting work and his deep dives is what lead to their moves, Beane stated the same. So your "it was Beane" comments are so far off from actual reality, it sounds like Pat Leonard wrote it.
2) There may be more important things to him than working weigh Schoen. Perhaps he wants to work with Tua as a QB. Perhaps he wants no state income tax. Perhaps after living in Buffalo the past 4 years, the though of the weather in Miami is enticing. (I moved to San Diego from NY after i finished my residency because i was over the cold).
3) There is a the chance that the Giants didn’t love what they heard in the interview. They added on Leslie Frazier AFTER they finished with Daboll..which was interesting timing. The Giants may have decided they want someone who has HC experience. Quinn, FLores, Frazier all do. There may have been a Stark contrast listening to Daboll after hearing Quinn making them realize they wanted that experience.

I posted that article three times including yesterday. Try to keep up.
Daboll/Schoen, wherever they ended up, have been looked at as a package deal since well before the end of the season. If Daboll ends up going elsewhere, it says more about the Maras than it does about what people think about Joe Schoen.
If he hires Daboll, then why didn't he do a more complete HC search instead of just focusing in on his buddy from Buffalo
If he hires someone else, then its because Daboll is dissing him for something.
This

BBI “work” ethic..😎
All that matters is we find a good head coach to help us win.
It's not Daboll or nothing. There's a lot of roads to take here.

The Question was not if Schoen picks someone over Daboll, it was if Daboll picks someone else over Schoen.
I like to think of myself as a rational thinker--if I am a HC candidate, I realize that I might get one shot at this. I am going wherever I feel I have the most chance of success. Tua might be slightly better than Jones, but he is not a guy you are going to go with. Buffalo has a young QB in that division much better than Tua. The NFC East is a weak division, the GM is pledging to revamp this operation. We draft 5 and 7 this year.
And for the state income tax guys, are you willing to give up 7% of your salary if you think you can coach somewhere ten years because you will build a winning program or would you rather not be taxed the 7% and go to a situation where you are not as likely to succeed. if he has faith in Schoen, I would go with him

Whatever happened to hire the best GM and let him do his job?

Or reading comprehension, maybe. Nobody said if Schoen was the driving force for someone else. The question is if Daboll is the guy with the choice.
Stop it with these rational thoughts
And, he’s familiar with Tua and Waddle from his college days. Perhaps he likes that roster more- I would not blame him.

I think it probably means Daboll enjoyed being in the South, will net more money because of the favorable taxes and cost of living, has a relationship with Tua, and likes the talent overall in Miami more.
Stop it with these rational thoughts
Yeah because a guy from Canada who has spent the last four years in Buffalo is probably just waiting to be a Beach Bum. Rational, I know.
excellent post..I learned alot..😎
He spent a year at Bama. Maybe he enjoyed not shoveling his driveway.
Would imagine a ton of things go into accepting a particular head coaching job. And a first one at that.
That's alotta money.
The Giants are rebuilding and do not have much cap space at the moment due to Gettleman.
That's alotta money.
And he'll get less of a salary than with the Giants as a result
