Look at Graham... he was thought to be a future HC as soon as this year and now he isn't at all. If Cowboys have a bad year because of injuries or whatever he won't have a chance.
this was more about teams not having as much interested in him as previously thought
Dallas may have boosted his salary if he committed by a certain date and with Eberflus to Chicago and Hackett to Denver, the Giants were only remaining job he was in the running for. If he couldn’t get assurances from the Giants probably took bird in the hand.
Maybe he's confident Mccarthy is going to get himself canned in 2022
And he's the logical guy to turn to in an interim basis with the expectation he'll get the team to the post-season (won't be hard in this division) giving himself a chance to be the HC in 2023.
Do we know that this is not because all of his HC options
dried up? Coaches are getting named now and he may have received several "Thanks, but not thanks" calls the last few days, including teams that have not announced coaches yet.
Would rather be DC over HC
Don’t want someone like that as my HC
Jerry must have thrown bunch of money at Quinn
Or maybe he saw the writing on the wall and declared his return to Dallas to save face. He was passed over for a lot of jobs, including this one, or so it seems.

McCarthy is there, I guess he figures there will be a HC vacancy in Dallas next year. Someone may want to remind him that Sean Payton is available too.

Yes, this is the right answer. He was passed over by Denver and Chicago. Probably got wind that he was behind Daboll and Flores here so withdrew. Not good look for a candidate to be rejected by too many teams. Hurts down the road. Shouldn't IMO but that's the way it works.

I think that is exactly it, along with a pay raise. Also Quinn has Diggs and Parsons to build his defense around.
The coordinators are as or more important than HC. IF the coordinators call the plays. If the HC is calling plays then he is more important.
The HC is more of the CEO, he keeps everyone organized and delegates as needed. If he has good coordinators it shouldn't be a problem as long as he runs a good organization and doesn't constantly overrule his coordinators with bad results.
that was the one big name I was nervous about. I believe his success in Atl was due to the offense's success under Shanahan.
Yeah but he did have good success as a coordinator with Seattle... and getting to a Super Bowl is no joke. It's really the SB meltdown that makes me wonder obviously, but honestly I put that as much on Matt Ryan as I do that coaching staff. The Patriots got into his head and he could do nothing after the 3rd quarter. Atlanta had a good year the year the Eagles won the SB, and they only lost to Philly like 15-10 in the playoffs that year. Apparently they had some bad injuries going on the year after that.
Not sure. Everyone has warts but I wouldn't hate a Quinn hire. I wouldn't hate a Pederson hire either. At this point I am guessing it's Daboll or Flores, and I'm OK with that too.
RE: RE: If we end up with Leslie Frazier as our HC...
It might be true the other teams passed on him, but not the Giants. Why? We're still interviewing candidates. It's unlikely we told a guy "you're out" when we haven't made a decision yet. I think Quinn went through the more substantive interview and being Dallas' defensive coordinator was a better option to him.
For Jerry’s Cowboys. It’s well known that Payton has been his dream HC
I thought I read somewhere that Payton still had 3 years left on his contract with the Saints. That would mean that the cowturds would still have to negotiate some sort of compensation with the saints to make that happen.

Doesn’t BBI want Schoen to make the call though? Which is it?

Agreed. Not that he wouldn't be a good head coach, I just think he would have been the safest hire, with the lowest upside.
Frazier wouldn't be bad choice. Not my preference, but as log they brought in good coordinators, I'd be comfortable with it.

Schoen isn't running the operations...

Schoen can make the call as long as the BBI-GM's agree with it. Otherwise they will start calling for his removal in March
I don't think the 42 year old Schoen is going to recommend the 62 year old Frazier as he's trying to get a guy he's in "lockstep" with.
we may need to reopen the search. What if Daboll goes to Miami and Flores is passed on because of his work relationship issues.
Not much left, Frazier no, Graham no
anyone else feel what is left in the candidate pool is uninspiring? Can we still bring back Judge?

He may have a good relationship with him, and I've read that he thinks very highly of him.
Lots of unknowns.

He knows Mike has a short leash..

Frazier is the defensive version of Shurmur, IMO.

Let's hear your opinions instead of your opinions about other people's opinions.
Lots of unknowns.
I think it's as simple as Jones playing Vito Corleone and giving Quinn an offer he couldn't refuse.
Seems logical. Honestly I am shocked he hasn't gotten another shot. Seems like a good coach deserving of another shot.
Quinn was raised in Morristown.

My thoughts exactly.
I am Very worried about this
