Lawrence Tynes on the Giants injury problems

Ira : 1/27/2022 7:14 pm
Tynes replied to TheGiantsWire article on Twitter -

He won’t have to look real hard or long, just ask the vets.

These men were over worked, I know this for a fact.

New York Giants GM Joe Schoen intends to do a “deep dive” into the team’s injury woes in an effort to find a root cause and a solution. https://giantswire.usatoday.com/2022/01/27/joe-schoen-says-new-york-giants-will-do-deep-dive-into-injury-woes/?taid=61f2a487b015fc0001b97542& utm_campaign=trueanthem& utm_medium=trueanthem& utm_source=twitter

Ronnie Barnes will be a Giants employee until he croaks. Or refuses a medium Pepsi. Whichever one comes first.

seasons Jones was brought back from injury way too early and it was obvious on the field. Also think that it happened with Golladay, Toney, Thomas and other players this past season. Not excusing poor play, but I think it was pretty obvious players were playing when they weren't fully healed.

Your probably more prone to throwing your players out too soon

Every Giants player I’ve heard speak of him says that Ronnie Barnes is one of the best.

I agree and gave been pointing the finger at Barnes for a few years now. We have WAY TOO MANY soft tissue injuries and also the recovery situation for many players has been a disaster

His results say otherwise.
Tynes lost all credibility when he started to stump for Abrams
Ned In Atlanta : 1/27/2022 8:08 pm : link
He’s become a hack/mouth piece for the team. He wasn’t critical of Judge when he was here, now he’s a convenient person to lay blame on for injuries, etc

I've heard that too for a long time.
But then the team and players just have that much shit luck?
It seems more than coincidence when its been going on for so long.
A lot of it coincided

when Aaron Wellman left to go back to work in college at Indiana. The Giants generally healthy & bounced back with injuries when he was here. That was a big loss when it happened and it kind of slipped through the cracks in the news because of the change to Judge and Covid going on.

To be fair everyone thought Abrams… he’s been in the wings vying for that position for nearly a quarter century. 23 years 20 as assistant GM interim GM 2017 and interviewed for the pos… when they hired DG.
That being said, I agree 100 percent with you that he should’ve spoke up sooner. It’s a bitch move to talk shit now that Judge is gone even if it is true.

Especially Shep,
does the 'deep dive' include authority

do you really think this is on Barnes? cmon

I would bet it has more to do with orders from the front office to get players in the lineup.
I think we'll see a lot more of Jones this season
SirLoinOfBeef : 1/27/2022 11:23 pm : link
if he's still on the team.

For better or for worse, we'll get a real sense of what he's capable of.
Whatever this "deep dive" is,
81_Great_Dane : 1/27/2022 11:25 pm : link
it's long overdue. Injuries are wrecking season after season. Every team has injuries, but the Giants are an outlier. Something is wrong. Training methods, medical care, playing surface, equipment, any and all of the above. Something.
To me Tynes is golden forever
Go Terps : 1/28/2022 12:01 am : link
Him running out onto the field in OT at Lambeau was a fork in the road moment for all of us. I will always love this guy.
I had speculated overwork played a role . . . .
TC : 1/28/2022 12:07 am : link
in the Giants' injury problem. They players just didn't look right from the get-go. Looked muscle wasted.
Didn't they hook up all the players with sensors so that they could
Marty in Albany : 1/28/2022 1:19 am : link
tell how much work each player was doing during practice?

I don't know if these sensors are effective tools, but it shows that the Giants are indeed aware of the need to know each player's amount of activity.
I can add this. When I had contact with medical directors of NFL teams
plato : 1/28/2022 3:01 am : link
The Giant training and medical staff were regarded as the best or near best in the league. Those years have gone by, but to yell for the heads of our training and medical staff is just emotion without evidence.
Maybe it's a combination of many of the things that have been
Ira : 1/28/2022 3:49 am : link

I don't know...aside from Barkley
bLiTz 2k : 1/28/2022 4:25 am : link
and Jones for a few weeks in 2020, the team was relatively healthy. Same staff top to bottom...sometimes it really is shit luck.

I'm more concerned with how putrid the roster construction has been that anyone who comes off the bench has no business being on an NFL roster.

The Giants could have weathered some of the onslaught of injuries in 2021 if they saw the writing on the wall that the OL had zero proven talent at the starter position, and a literal patchwork of no names on the bench.

When 2 injuries hit you in the preseason and you're making a mad dash to acquire 2-3 players on cut down day - you fucked up. Bad.

Injuries have been a problem, but the lack of depth ESPECIALLY on the O-line which has been a topic of conversation for even the most uninformed of football fans is ludicrous. People deserved to lose jobs over it.
Ronnie Barnes only deals with players once they’re hurt

It’s the strength and conditioning guys that are responsible for putting together the workout and recovery programs

Hack for the team? Tynes was one of the teams harshest critics, and was calling for Judge s dismissal long before anyone else.

His comment about Abrams was a personal preference based on his friendship with the man

Calling him a mouth piece for the team is completely inaccurate. Don’t know how anyone listening to his podcast could reach that decision

Perhaps you have never listened and based your comments on what was reporters led here when the mass hysteria involving Mara was at it s peak.

Fair criticism. I didn’t listen to the podcast and I’m jaded by the Abrams comments. He’s a good follow on Twitter that just left a sour taste in my mouth. I was wrong.

I think Thomas is a stud at LT but agree with the rest for the most part. We did sign oft injured players. We should have drafted OL last season but took Toney, who had injury problems throughout his college career.

Beyond that it’s shit luck. It takes a really good GM to assemble quality backups when those guys would rather start elsewhere and Lord knows those opportunities are out there.
