And just can't get past the ridiculously bad dialog and overactive by Costners daughter. I know it's a popular show and other than her it's interesting. But when she's on the screen the whole thing becomes a comedy. I can't not laugh at her. She was the same way in True Detective but not to this extent.

1883 on Paramount plus is better than Yellowstone

I find the daughter on 1883 annoying (even more so than Beth on Yellowstone).

show that had a great cast was "Mare of Easttown."

I thought the series started off really strong (first three episodes) and then fell apart a bit. I can't get into specifics without spoilers. But what kept me watching was the cast. Kate Winslet was superb in it. Who knew the Titanic chick would evolve into the actress who starred in "The Reader" and "Mare of Easttown"?

That show was filmed not far from where I live. My wife's co-worker was Winslettxs dialect coach because the accent here is so...interesting.

For sure, funny that you mention The Reader bc I just watched it this past week.

Moze- I'm in western Delco about a hundred yards from the Delaware border. I'm guessing you're in Chester County? I thought it was funny that Mare was most definitely a Delco story but they chose to name it after a township from Chester County.

Small world..I'm also western Delco.. some friends on Creek Rd/Route 100 got some stipends for the road being shut down for production... the scene where a key item is thrown over a bridge is the concrete bridge over the Brandywine on 100 just north of Delaware border and probably darn close to you... and I run over that bridge when I do a 2-3 mile out and back..

"Nobody" was fun (albeit violent). Great cast.

I do want to see that...

Speaking of transformatons since you were talking about Kate Winslet...

Bob Odenkirk?? From a comedy writer to Mr. Show to Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul to Nobody?

It's like if Conan O'Brien was starring in an action movie. He and Odenkirk had like the same start..

The Shield about the gray line between good an evil in this show exploring police corruption and effectivness was the show that launched FX and really good. Great ending. Nobody talks about it, but its one of my favorites. Now on Hulu.

Brotherhood on Showtime about two brothers in Rhode Island, one a politician and the other in the Irish Mob.

Dopesick on Hulu starring Michael Keaton about Oxycontin from the perspectives of the Pharmaceutical company, addicts, sales force, and investigators.

The Borgias on Showtime about the Borgia pope empire.

Togetherness on HBO if you like the Duplass brothers exploration of the human experience.

Snowfall on FX/Hulu about the beginning of the crack epidemic

Rebellion on Netflix about the 1916 Easter Uprising in Ireland. (Season 1 is okay, season 2 is fantastic).

The Morning Show on Apple

Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, Yellowstone, Dexter and like them all alot.

Watched the first 7 episodes of Ozark Season 1, and just couldn't get into it for some reason.

Six Feet Under was a drama series that started in 2001 on HBO and is on HBOMax these days is very good. The guy who plays "Dexter" (Michael C. Hall) is one of the stars in it, and I highly recommend it. That ending montage in the final episode is so sad (and well done) it's not even funny.

Agree. Got through a couple seasons but thought there were just too many plot holes. Surprised by that given the writer but left disappointed.

when my kids lived at home - I was always too busy. But now that I'm in the empty nest I have been enjoying the older shows and some newer ones too.

Not mentioned today (I think) the Wire. Very good.

Watching Breaking Bad for the third time all the way through in the last four years. Worth several views. Better Call Saul as well, obviously.

Agree on Mare of Easttown. Winslett is great, the story is good enough.

Some comedies that haven't been mentioned but have been pretty good: Search Party, The Flight Attendant, and just now I've been watching The Other Two, which I thought season one was absolutely great but other than the opener season two has been a bit disappointing. S2E2 was so bad I just about gave up on the whole show even though S1 was one of my fav recent comedies. Search Party was kind of the same way.

Also, for those who mentioned What We Do in the Shadows, Give Paranormal Activity (I think?) a try. Same group, set in Wellington shown from the police side investigating the paranormal. Absurd comedy but fun if you liked WWDITS (which I agree is one of the better comedies of the past decade).

Game of thrones

If you like sci-fi

Various Star Trek shows (ds9 is my favorite)

Stargate

Also to note there are some good new shows with only a season or 2 so far but are worth watching like some of the super hero shows like Loki, peacemaker, etc., the star wars shows(mandelorian, boba fett, obi-one looks like it might be good, lock and key, hell I even enjoyed the new Sabrina remake lol

if you like sci-fi you should watch the expanse

i use to LOVE stargate sg-1 (when richard dean anderson was the star) but man that show is really dated now

Yellowstone and 1883 are different shows.

Yellowstone stars Kevin Costner, 1883 stars Sam Elliott.

1883 is a prequel (if that's the right word) to Yellowstone but that is the only relation.

It was somewhat accurate on the pioneering of gaming tech and how it started/grew. Some diverse characters with interesting "backstories". I'm sure they will develop more of the characters over time, will watch the next season for sure.

As others have mentioned - Mindhunter - was amazing if serial killer hunting is your thing. I wish they offered another season but Netflix cut it for some reason. This was my most enjoyable show to watch out of many listed.

For All Mankind was great too, I enjoyed and love the space/science theme.....A little far fetched towards the end, but their goal wasn't to recreate what's already written in history books regarding Apollo missions.

Same here. However, rather than ending it, I wish they were fixing it so it was more realistic, because at times I feel like it's really compelling. It's just so over the top, and so dark at other times.

Its by Alex Garland (28 Days Later, Ex-Machina, Annihilation), about a tech company in Silicon Valley. Espionage, intrigue, philosophical questions of free will vs determinism. Beautifully shot, amazing visuals, really well acted especially by the lead (Sonoya Mizuno) as well as Nick Offerman as an eccentric silicon valley type and Stephen McKinley Henderson as a programmer. I'm about to watch the finale tonight after starting it last week and I'm actually really psyched to see where it ends up.
