these past few weeks so I fall asleep early, but I can barely make it through an Ozark episode from the latest seasom without falling asleep. that show fell off a cliff.
if not for Ruth I'd stop watching, it's not that she's even attractive, that part is just so well acted and I've rarely seen a more perfectly cast character (maybe the midget who played Tyrion in GOT, but he already had the size thing going for him).
RE: I don't think The Queen's Gambit has been mentioned
It's fine, I'd punch Jonah in the crotch constantly if I could, and the nephew character is a ripoff (or homage) to the same exact type of character in better call Saul this past season.
Going to start pam and tommy on Hulu tonight.
If you like the Brits, try "Brassica" on Hulu. Great show.
T
Dopesick on Hulu starring Michael Keaton about Oxycontin from the perspectives of the Pharmaceutical company, addicts, sales force, and investigators.
Dopesick is definitely worth watching and packs a punch. Has some surprisingly good music and evocative performances, especially from Keaton of course. And it makes your blood boil.
It's a little clumsy in parts and some of the exposition feels really ham-fisted, but it also has a lot of welcome surprises. The religious fanatic family becomes a lot more sympathetic than you'd think, for example.
And just can't get past the ridiculously bad dialog and overactive by Costners daughter. I know it's a popular show and other than her it's interesting. But when she's on the screen the whole thing becomes a comedy. I can't not laugh at her. She was the same way in True Detective but not to this extent.
I can't comment because I haven't seen the show yet, but the character that delivers that same experience to me is Brianna from Outlander. Good Lord, what a painful actress.
‘Godfather of Harlem” 2 seasons Forest Whitaker as Bumby Johnson
‘Condor” a loose take on 3 days of the condor
“Pennyworth”
“Britannia” - a weird story of the 2nd century second Roman invasion
I’m 3 episodes in and it’s pretty good. Also entire season was released
Thanks! I was thinking about starting a new thread asking about this. I've read all the books, and although it's not great literature, for me, they're really enjoyable. I think I'll start watching Reacher tonight.

I haven’t read them but I guess it’s based off killing floor

That's my understanding also, that it's based on "Killing Floor".
I binged these shows (some on my own, some with my wife):
Homeland
Schitt's Creek
Cobra Kai
Handmaid's Tale
Shameless
Ted Lasso
The Morning Show (in the middle of this one)
Daredevil (in the middle of this one)
Designated Survivor (watched season 1 and lost interest in season 2)
Friday Night Lights
I'm sure there are some others I'm missing off the top of my head.
I'd like to watch Yellowstone and 1883, but I don't have Paramount+
3 of afterlife - written, directed, produced, and starring Ricky Gervais.
Like him or hate him that show just hits you if you have ever lost someone close to you and even if not I don't think I've really see loss portrayed so believably. I actually thought it might be based on reality it seemed so real.
plus he adds in his brand of humor which I like.
IMO the show is award worthy (which after his Golden Globes emceeing would be ironic) and I watched the first two episodes of season 3 so far, and there is zero degradation.
After life was great fun. For all his bluster Ricky gervais is a sap. He's all about love. Ghost town, an underseen movie of his, was also funny and schmaltzy all at the same time. Anybody watch the new Teacher? Wondering if it's worth watching.
I think it was like 4 or 5 seasons.
Designated Survivor was good. Interesting because the first 2 seasons I guess were on network tv but the final season was Netflix and suddenly they started cursing all the time lol.
was an awesome series. I never saw it when it originally aired. I binge watched all of the seasons in about two weeks. Such a great show based upon a true story. Wish it was continued...

Was one of those shows that was so good it even had a perfect ending, even down to the music choices with U2's "with or without you" playing as Paige got off the train the last stop in the US.

Yes,forgot about that one. Excellent. There were a few stretches where it dragged, but that last episode was dynomite!

COVID hit and then Hardy has delays, but I think there will be a season 2.

Oof, that show is bleak. I definitely would recommend but I'd rather not watch it again myself.

Father Ted fixes a dent in a car - ( New Window )

I really like Tom Hardy. I loved him in "The Drop", with James Gondolfini.

"Twin Peaks" (the original series)
"Lost"
"Fargo" (series, not the movie)
Comedies
"Mick" (2 seasons) fricken roll over funny
"Imposters" (2 seasons) a "dramedy" - good
Homeland
Schitt's Creek
Cobra Kai
Handmaid's Tale
Shameless
Ted Lasso

"Nobody" was fun (albeit violent). Great cast.
Eric, I did watch it finally and my headache went away. Actually a decent film.
