Were you the Tom moving to NC and looking for a job a year or two ago? If so, how'd it turn out? I'm not sure if it was you or Tom from LI (something like that).
JonC can't imagine hand shoveling that 20 inches last year..congrats on becoming part of the snowblower community!!...nothing better than blasting through the deep stuff!!!
was on a new snow thrower a year ago, bring it on!
Still grinding away with my Honda Track I bought at discount ~ late 2008 (dark days in the markets). Showing her age but still gets the job done, 1900' and up a steep hill--I live in the stix.
Before you go out, spray those blades with plenty of PAM or other non-stick spray, reduces the stick and hence clog of the intake bin.

and a good cigar and you're "REALLY" ready to rock and roll that snowblower. (that was my technique- no longer necessary living in the city). Could hardly wait to get out there. Just don't throw it INTO the wind or you will be wearing it!
FREE SNOW SHOVELING CLASS: This Saturday I will be holding a FREE snow shoveling class in my driveway. Come and join the class and learn about the proper ways to shovel. Reviewed techniques will include the scoop and throw method, the down and push method (AKA the plow technique), as well as the upside down scraping technique. Don't miss out on this amazing opportunity to enhance your snow lifting techniques without throwing your back out! I will provide the driveway to ensure your training is conducted in the most life-like situation, I only ask that you bring your own shovel (Ergonomical designs suggested) PM me for additional details and times. Seating is limited and handled on a first come first served basis...Subject to date change depending on total accumulation. Link - ( New Window )

Thanks.

Have friends who have lived in that area for years and love it. Also have friends closer to Greensboro and have nice things to say about the area as well.

She is just west of Boston and they are expecting at least two feet of snow and maybe more with 50-60 MPH Gusts.
They have a sturdy, older home, but she is worried about power outages and tree damage as they have a lot of large trees around their property.
Tomorrow is definitely a Weather Channel day!
Be safe everyone!
I love snow.
Snow blowers are like dishwashers. Once you get your first one, you can't understand how you got by without one.

After hand-shoveling out of that 20"+ storm about a year ago, including sidewalks bordering my property, I could wait no longer.

That would certainly do it.
I pulled the trigger in 1990. We bought our house in 1988 and it has a about a 150 foot driveway that double wides for about the last 40 feet.
After two years of shoveling that, I was done.
