I received a call last night and if I want I have tickets to the super bowl. I live in Northern California, so most likely drive down. My question is do I drive to sofi( will there be plenty of parking spaces or will a lot of the spots be closed off for event tents and maybe security)I have no idea what I am getting my self into here. Do most hotels have a shuttle option to and from the stadium. Any advice will help. TIA.
I was there for Super Bowl 42 in Phoenix when the Giants beat the undefeated Patriots. Took awhile to get into the parking lot, and I arrived 3 hours before kickoff. Uber/Lyft didnt exist back then
Parking - ( New Window )
Thanks. Great info!
and I went to 48 at Metlife
I can tell you that even Metlife stadium, that has a ton of parking, was a nightmare due to the lack of parking available. I took the train in and got picked up by car service to drive us to the Bada Bing after.
the way they're going to set it up in LA, i would imagine that you'll have to park at a site and get bussed in. I would look that up but i'll bet thats how they do it.
We snuck into the Giants hotel on Saturday, my son got some autographs, met some players and retired players. It was great.
Don't let an issue like parking stop you from something you will remember the rest of your life.
My sense is that the experience depends heavily on the city hosting it. New Orleans is perfect because everything is downtown and walkable. I didn't get in a car the whole week. There were a ton of people and it was a blast. By contrast I lived a couple miles from the stadium when it was at MetLife, and I was in the city the night before that Super Bowl and I couldn't detect any difference in the regular day to day.
I imagine in LA it'll be more like the NY experience - I'm not sure I'd go at all, but that's just me. Having a place to stay near the stadium and near some type of walkable downtown area (if one exists in LA) is crucial.
You are better off staying at a hotel near LAX or one of the beach communities. For Giants-Chargers, we ended up watching the early games at a sports bar in El Segundo, then Uber over. An Uber will take at least 30 minutes from LAX due to traffic.
Finding an Uber after the game will be a nightmare, we had to walk like .5 mile away to get one that was reasonable on wait time/price.
I would not recommend trying to drive to that stadium. The traffic was a mess.
They had us parking on a golf course....30min walk to Stadium
Security and entrance in '11 was an event in itself.
So get there early....expect to leave late

Thanks for the info. I see a lot of hotels that are next to the airport. Now makes sense.
I went to the Pats Eagles in 2003 and there was zero parking. You had to park at a remote lot and they had busses to bring you in, that was a nightmare leaving as well. It was an awesome experience to see the Super Bowl. My biggest take away was it is half corporate people and their families who have no rooting interest in the game and half actual fans. So it didn't feel as intense as you might think.

Interesting. Thanks.
