It was about what players may follow Daboll, and one player intrigued me.

Ryan Bates Guard from Penn State, was traded from Philly to Buffalo in 2019, becoming starting guard for the last 5 games of this season and played well.

Some believe he is part of the reason they ran the ball better down the stretch, may be a key signing for us since he is a free agent.

They ran the ball better down the stretch because McDermott told Daboll to run more. Once he committed to the run Singletary became a legit RB. The previous season and a half Singletary would get 1 carry per drive. Tough to get in rhythm with your oline that way.

That said any Bills IOL is an upgrade for us.

For the record I watch the Bills more than the Giants cause I own a bar in Bills country.

2020- DE 2nd (not 1st rd pick)

2019- RD 2 Cody Ford Ol

Hoe many teams need players...literally everywhere? There is not a single spot on this roster that doesn't need help. Taking lesser players out of need is a great way to end up with a lack of talent on your roster.

2021 they grabbed 3 OLmen in the draft.


They definitely prioritize DE/DT in RD 1 over the years. They also took a RB in the 3rd round in back to back years 2019, 2020.

certainly a bit of a trend of taking non-LTs earlier in the draft in the NFL.

If they don't fix the oline or get a pass rush whomever else they draft will not make the team better.

That was my one concern with Daboll. It's been clear the last 2 years Singletary was their best back and they never used him as such. As soon as they did more consistently the offense really took off again. Wondering why Daboll didn't recognize that sooner.

Than linemen. But linemen allow you to compete.

Build the lines first then get your skill position players.

Taking best athlete first all the time leaves the trenches bare.

I am definitely for BPA, but you also have to know that its a crap shoot and even if you take the BPA/highest graded player no matter the position, they could still suck, get hurt or just be a head case. Just prioritize line talent and take 2 or 3 players a draft on either OL or DL or ideally both. If they take an Edge and 2 linemen this draft I'll be happy. Currently we have a lot of holes and so I don't see a problem still taking a WR or CB in the 1st round. Be smart, don't reach, at least too much and don't worry about winning the offseason. Just get good solid players.

They need better everything.

its just the basic immutable laws of statistics. Better than the Giants draft mangy WRs and man corners to play zone high theory. Plenty of fast 5'10" guys in the world and no other sport really covets them either, maybe outside of soccer.

was the qb "touched by the Hand of God". They also made astute use of free agency with Diggs and Beasley once they realized what they had at qb.

You guys with your "OL over all" stuff. If you have shit at qb, your are not going anywhere in this league, o-line or no

You left out Ed Oliver in 2019

misleading thread!! You make it sound like the Bills have been spending tons of premium draft capital on the OL when nothing can be farther than the truth. In the past 4 drafts they selected Cody Ford with a second in 2019 and Spencer brown in the 3rd round in 2021. Their premium picks have been used on front seven defensive players: Edmunds, Oliver, Epenesa, Rousseau, and Basham, a premium QB and a 2020 number one pick traded for Stephon Diggs. Might have something to do with why they had the number-one-ranked-D this year. This is why I have such high hopes with Schoen, seems to understand that play makers are best found at the top of the draft.
