Curious to know the relative upsides and downsides between the two. Martindale seems to be the name more people are talking about, but I'm curious what the side-by-side comparison shows.
Really that good.. the Ravena defense was that impressive this year.. I know they had some injuries.. how were they the 2 prior years ?
Me personally Fangio is a no brainer if he’s an option.. man has been doing it at a high level for years
Seems like either one will be good for us..But remember that you need a few great players on the team to make the coach look good also..Do we have a few great players? I say no to that..Better draft a couple this year..
don't be surprised if they pick a corner high in the draft. You need a great secondary, especially great outside corners for Martindales defensive scheme to be effective.
Interesting conversation. I haven't heard anything about the Giants
being connected to Fangio. I don't know either well enough to have a strong opinion. Denver built a hell of a defense. They are the classic example of the NFL being a QB league. IMO they're a Super Bowl contender day 1 if Aaron Rodgers winds up there. If that's Fangio's defense sign me up.
The Ravens have managed to let really good defensive players leave as free agents and they always seem to have an aggressive strong defense. I heard that Martingale was let go because he kept calling the same thing over and over in the red zone and Harbaugh got frustrated with him. That's a little bit of a yellow light for me since the Ravens were playing backups to backups by the end of the year and he allegedly didn't adjust. But who knows if that's really true.
I'd take either one of them over Graham. I want Graham gone. For me it's not about schemes it's about taking a part of the coaching staff that just got fired and pushing it on the new coach and GM. I know Daboll and Schoen have crossed paths with Graham. I still want him gone.
Is anyone concerned that Martindale’s defense was one of the worst, if not the worst in the NFL last year? And the Giants defense was middle of the pack if you look at the stats.

Meant to say 2021. Why were they so bad? You would think they would have better time of possession on offense than the Giants.
two very different systems. Martindale blitzes a lot with lots of man (which I love) while Fangio doesn't and plays a lot of zone. Fangio's scheme is complicated and requires smart players since he works to confuse Offenses
Fangio might be the best defensive coach in the NFL with a proven ability to pick and develop assistants
I think it's gonna be wink.

Either is fine. Simply prefer Fangio
