Did 13 seconds make a difference?

Big Blue '56 : 1/28/2022 7:45 pm
If the Bills did not inexplicably lose to the Chiefs and managed to reach the SB, would Schoen have waited for Daboll or would he have gone with Flores (assuming all questions were answered) or perhaps someone else?

Speculation and nothing more, but curious if any of you think the landscape would look differently? Or, nothing would have changed except waiting time?
Regardless,

for the Bills fan
It’s tempting to think yes

But ultimately I think this was a package deal whether Mara liked it or not. I even think Schoen had a little slip of the tongue the other day at his own presser when he said something that alluded to certainty as to who the head coach would be rather than it being open ended.

Here’s the view from where I’m sitting though.

Good luck Schoen and good luck Daboll!
Can only pass an opinion

but I think he would have continued interviewing other candidates. Due diligence. Then eventually still chosen Daboll.
The fact that we have to ask these questions

Shows how f***ed the hiring process is. What would be the harm in just letting a coach be hired now effective at the conclusion of the superbowl?

They used to do that but somehow they felt integrity would be compromised, which I never saw any evidence of

Yes it is.

Now the Corner Forum turns into the NY Giants version of "Sliding Doors" or Marvel's "What If...?"

I'm convinced the only way Bieniemy ever gets a head coaching job is if Kansas City wins the Superbowl and Reid immediately retires afterward.
I am skeptical Bienemy can pass a background check.

Not familiar. What did he do?
So I’m speculating here
cosmicj : 1/28/2022 8:53 pm : link
And if I am unjustly slandering Bienemy, I apologize.

1) BBIers talk about incidents when Bienemy and young but the real issue I see are rape allegations (possibly many of them) connected to Colorado Boulder recruiting, which Bienemy was in charge of. After the allegations came out, Bienemy had to leave the school’s employ. This occurred in 2001-02.

2) Bienemy keeps getting interviewed and not making the short list. Now he may be a lousy interviewee, or alternatively the hiring team meets with them, requests a background check and the investigation in the post - MeToo era reveals a big potential PR issue. No short list for Eric.

This is as I said speculation, and I could be very wrong about the source of the problem (maybe it’s something else bad Bienemy did), but there’s a lot of smoke there. And it sure isn’t because Bienemy gripped a parking garage guard a little too hard three decades ago.

Ah, thanks Cos
Yes.

I think it 100% did.

Here’s to hoping that’s the name of the next NFL Films feature on the Giants years from now, after they win a bunch of Super Bowls.
