But Daboll is the head coach now. His job title comes with different responsibilities. I'm more interested in seeing how his leads a team - offense, defense, special teams.
Ugh. One of the many reasons that I've been bitching about this coaching search is that Schoen didn't go outside of his circle. Imo, it seems he had his 3 guys and Mara had his 3 guys. As someone pointed out today, only 1 of the 6 were offensive guys. If this doesn't work out, how is Schoen going to learn from it? That is why it is important to interview many different candidates. Go outside of your circle and reflect on which guys succeeded and which ones didn't. Then you can come up with a better understanding of what to look for the next time around. This is life. Schoen mentioned leaving no stone unturned on GMFB but I don't believe he did this with this search. I pray that Daboll works out.

If not, 3 years max.

Your point is well taken.
I'm pretty sure this upcoming season is gonna be rough sledding as Schoen and Daboll try to lay in a foundation to build upon. That usually does not translate into many wins in Year One.
It's gonna take a few seasons before we know whether or not Daboll works out.
Go be a Dallas fan then. You are just another downer and typical fan on here
Never let it be said you weren't the first BBIer to say that. Well done.
Roster construction etc
I have been neutral.....I would have liked previous HC experience...I was leaning O minded. With that....I still am clueless to what makes a great HC...winning in NFL and winning big...Super Bowl big.

I'm with you. I have no idea who will work at this point as Head Coach of the Giants. It's almost like I sorta wish we could have taken Brian Daboll with a little cloning of Brian Flores.
Why on earth is that bad?

I tend to agree with you -- Brian Daboll, as well as the entire Buffalo offense, got better and better over the past four years.
When I started this thread, I realized that these stats present a little bit of a "chicken and the egg" dilemma.
Clearly, our new Head Coach was the offensive coordinator on some very bad teams, so it is difficult to see how these teams would have put up a huge number of points per game.
On the other hand, had Daboll pulled a rabbit out of his hat and created an offense that generated a lot of points, then I suspect these terrible Won-Loss records would not look so terrible.
Sometimes you get these guys who have been fast risers and worked almost exclusively with great QBs. Daboll has seen a lot of stuff- and hopefully learned along the way.
Or maybe he's not good...who knows.
