Who do you see as the OL coach?

GFAN52 : 1/28/2022 9:28 pm
This will be an important position coach if the Giants bring in some OL players through the draft in the early rounds. Are we expecting a coach with a prior connection to Daboll?
Pay Munchak

Whatever he wants
Let’s hope Munchak
bigblue12 : 1/28/2022 9:31 pm : link
But that’s not likely
Rumors swirling
LoveFootball : 1/28/2022 9:31 pm : link
Rick Trickett is a viable candidate
Marc Colombo

++
Mike Munchak
AcesUp : 1/28/2022 9:33 pm : link
Do whatever it takes to get him. You can easily argue it’s a more pivotal hire than the DC or OC. Ran those dominant Pittsburgh fronts for years and turned around a similar dumpster fire unit in Denver. Helped Garrett Bolles go from a complete bust to big money second contract. Get that guy.

Not my prediction but the no brainer top candidate available.
Alabama OL coach Doug Marrone?
GFAN52 : 1/28/2022 9:33 pm : link
Has prior HC experience as well.
i think i'd go Munchak even though he's gotten some recent ciriticsm
Eric on Li : 1/28/2022 9:35 pm : link

Wait for bw to weigh in.

You can bet the farm he will tout a name no one’s heard of and sing his praises..

:)
Good call on Marrone
Chris684 : 1/28/2022 9:52 pm : link
Stoutland would be nice if that piece of shit Roseman would ever let him out.

By nice to get Marrone and then draft Evan Neal.
Dan Roushar
Giants73 : 1/28/2022 11:00 pm : link
Should be available.
Agree on Munchak
Anakim : 1/28/2022 11:32 pm : link
That's the guy I want. Marrone would also be great. Maybe Juan Castillo as a break-glass plan?
Munchak is the prize
Jay on the Island : 1/28/2022 11:41 pm : link
As Eric said above Cable would be a fine choice.

Forgot about Cable. Would also be a solid choice, but funnily enough, aside from one year with the Falcons, he has never worked on the East Coast.
I thought I read that Munchak's daughter lives in Colorado
Snablats : 1/28/2022 11:47 pm : link
and he has to know that Rodgers is coming, so why leave now?

OL choice is going to be huge

Another one to keep an eye on:
Anakim : 1/28/2022 11:50 pm : link
George Warhop. He was recently the Jaguars O-Line coach and was the OL coach when Daboll was an OC with the Browns. And actually, the Jaguars O-Line wasn't even that bad this past season.
Brandan Nugent
YANKEE28 : 1/28/2022 11:56 pm : link
Is from White Plains and has been consistently well regarded in the League. Its too early to know what happens to all of Sean's Saint assistants.

If I recall, the Saints blocked him from a Panthers job because both teams are in the same division.

This thread has a solid list of candidates. Daboll will have many great options.

Another note on Daboll- another earlier thread said he will steal former run blocking Guard Ryan Bates from the Bills. Bates is an RFA, and not an UFA. He will remain a Bill.

Unfortunately that is true. The first part anyway. His daughter lives in Denver and that’s why he came here in the first place. I can’t imagine they let him go

Marrone is a great call out. Forgot about him.

Flats is a possibility as well as Wilkerson (asst)

Ryan Wendell

Is my pick
This is the hire I’m keying on
cosmicj : 1/29/2022 6:50 am : link
It’s actually one of the significant decisions Schoen and Daboll face that will have a big influence on their success. I hope they really focus on it and break open the checkbook.

Y28 - thanks for that note.

I've mentioned Bates a couple of times as a potential option. You are correct that he is a RFA but it will be interesting to see the tender designation. Bates was undrafted so if the Bills place an original round tender on him then the Giants could theoretically sign him and not have to surrender a draft pick.

The original round tender is $2.183 million. I assume that the Bills will place a second round tender on him which comes with a cap hit of $3.384 million or they could place a 1st round tender on him but that would come with a cap hit of $4.766 million.

Hopefully the Bills will try to save some cap space by tendering Bates at the lowest level. If they do the Giants will likely be among his top suitors as he would be a versatile asset for the Giants.
Some interesting options
GabeNYG : 1/29/2022 11:53 am : link
1. Mike Munchak (if gettable)
2. Tom Cable
3. Doug Marrone (Alabama)
4. George Warhop
5. Brandan Nugent (Saints)

Am I missing anyone?
Plenty of options
Big_Pete : 1/30/2022 5:40 am : link
It really depends on what Schoen and Daboll are looking for and who is available.

I could see them going with a younger guy, perhaps someone under the radar like Broncos assistant oline Chris Kuper, who they both know from Miami.

A former NFL player and has worked with Munchak the last few years.

Offensive quality control coach

Miami Dolphins (2017–2018)
Assistant offensive line coach

Denver Broncos (2019–present)
