Why the Vic Fangio scheme is sweeping the NFL

Ira : 1/29/2022 6:02 am
The 6 minute video I linked below explains it pretty clearly. Fangio's scheme has been adapted by Brandon Staley of the Rams, Joe Barry of the Packers and Sean Desai of the Bears.

The Bills may have 2021’s best defense by yardage and points, the Rams defense - which uses Fangio’s approach - was the #1 defense according to DVOA. Maybe I should have known this but the Rams look like an avg defense according to traditional metrics but aren’t at all adjusting to game situations.

is that by the time YOU hear about the next big thing, the Pros have already "milked" that advantage for anything it was worth.

Could be the same with football trends; give the NFL an off season or two and the edge may no longer be as big as it was.

Rams have the type of defense that is a perfect match for a high scoring offense. They have players who can make big plays when needed. Having Von Miller, Aaron Donald and Ramsay are dangerous especially when the Rams have the lead. They are also the type of players that can make that one big play to change the game. Bills were missing that against the Chiefs. They needed one player to be extra great for a play or 2--sack turnover or interception and did not get that.
Anyone else

notice Golladay dropping a contested catch?

My vote for worst throw in the video is Josh Rosen.

Thanks for posting.

Or and it’s a big or the league will change the rules to lessen the effects of it

Yeah, I’m expecting a Rams Chiefs Super Bowl. It’s gonna be a good one.
