watching Tom Brady’s version recently on ESPN… that play in that game led to the biggest upset in Super Bowl history… it’s truly epic and gave us all such good memories
Joe Buck nailed that call. What I remember about watching it live is the camera panned to a wide open Plaxico just as Buck said, "Burress alone!" - it was perfect.
I remember the overwhelming feeling of wanting to pinch myself to make sure it was all true.
I was still a pretty young Giants fan then at only 24 years old.
My scars were 1993 and 2002 @ San Fran, 1997 vs Minnesota, 2000 vs Baltimore. All the beatings we had taken from Andy Reid and McNabb in the early 00s. All the Eli naysayers.
I had a job interview in NYC the next day and I while riding NJTransit into Manhattan I listened to WFAN to take it all in. Mike and the Mad Dog captured that win so perfectly that Monday, especially Francesa. I stopped in a Modell's to pick up the official SB winning hat and shirt. I will never forget it as long as I live.
Great night. Giants got the win in stunning fashion,

Buck gets a lot of shit (most of it deserved), but that call was indeed perfect...
Although he was clearly not as thrilled as Mike was, he was there Monday afternoon to face the music and give credit.
Francesa being so into it was somewhat of a surprise to me but apparently he sat right around the Manning contingent. Mike always ran hot and cold with NYG through the years. He was obviously tight with Parcells. He could not stand Strahan and Shockey specifically but loved TC and Eli. I guess with that 2007 team Shockey was no longer on the field by that time and Strahan completely bought into TC and played well. Russo never cared for the GMEN and used to put Eli down all the time. Watching Eli's success was especially gratifying as it related to him!
feeling standpoint. They say the best days of your life are your wedding and kids births. But those are different kinds of euphoria.
I have never felt the way I did that night since. It was like I was on MDMA, but I was dead sober for the game because I wanted to remember everything during the game. Us fans were celebrities for the night. I turned my razor phone off during the game. Didn't want to talk to anyone. Afterwards when I turned it on, my phone kept freezing because 63 text messages of congratulations were trying to come through.
We went to the bar in Arlington VA after all was said and done and the tears had subsided for everyone. Walking in decked out in my brand new Bradshaw jersey, and sideline hat the place erupted. People were running up and hugging me, and I had no idea who they were. Some weren't even Giants fans, they just hated the Patriots that much.
I got home and watched NFL network while pounding rum and cokes until around 5am. Woke back up around the time things were picking up again on NFLN.
Then I re-watched the game on DVR every night for about 7 months. EVERY night. What a great f-----g game/night.
This is the best sports night of my life, and it will probably never be topped. I'll never get tired of watching this game ever February 3rd. It means that much to me.
I can't believe this time next year it will be the 15 year anniversary of this game.
"That was the best play I've ever seen" immediately after that play. It was such a magical moment. Probably my favorite sports memory.
You weren’t alone. Steve Sabol said it was the best play ever in a SB (escape and helmet catch) and arguably the best play ever in the NFL
RIP Steve Sabol. That man was a legend. I remember him saying that about this play which meant a lot considering who he was.
But the “in the moment” feeling that I got watching that play and instantly recognizing how historic it was is something I’ve just rarely felt watching sports. Those types of moments don’t come around all that often and it was amazing to be a part of it as a fan watching that game.

That SB haunts Brady the most-by far, according to him

I believe that was the call.

I believe that was the call.
What an incredible game, and incredible playoff run.
The improbably win in Dallas, the OT win in Green Bay and, to top it all off, beating the 18-0 Patriots to win it all.
All the pain and anguish, but before and after, were well worth it.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Just saying……

That’s because you have a great perspective as a fan.
There are a few truths for sports fans which is why even through so much pain the highs are so incredible.
The odds are always with the field and success/failure is cyclical.
I can't believe this time next year it will be the 15 year anniversary of this game.

The Sabols rocked!
