A lot of the drama is basically decided in the East.
All 8 playoff teams have clinched, only jockeying for position/seeding is left.
All teams have anywhere from 2 to 4 games left.
As it stands today (games remaining in () at the end):
E1: (Atlantic champ) Panthers 120 pts (clinched 1 seed) (4)
E2: (Metro champ*) Hurricanes 110 pts (*not clinched) (3)
E3: Leafs 109 pts (3)
E4: Rangers 108 pts (3)
E5: Lightning 105 pts (4)
E6: Bruins 101 pts (4)
E7: Pens 101 pts (3)
E8: Caps 99 pts (4)
If nothing changes the 1st round matchups would be:
Panthers vs Caps (A1 vs WC2)
Hurricanes vs Bruins (M1 vs WC1)
Leafs vs Lightning (A2 vs A3)
Rangers vs Pens (M2 vs M3)
If I'm the Rangers I'm fine where I am and they have clinched at worst the 2 seed in the Metro. I'd rather play the Pens than the Bruins.
I will add the West in a separate post (5 teams have clinched and basically 4 teams vying for the final 3 spots).
Canes look like cup champs (while playing at home at least) more physical, more skilled, and better in net.
Campbell looked great game 1, though not so great last night.
Kirill the thrill looked great last night - as did McDavid (and Kane - and Smith).
of the 4 series to play last night all are tied 1 - 1 except CAR vs BOS, and I don't think that series is over, but teams who go up 2 - 0 win 80+% of the time.
I hope the Bruins get swept. Fuck Marchand.

Boston’s Brad Marchand has been fined $5,000, the maximum allowable under the CBA, for Slashing Carolina’s Pyotr Kochetkov.
A lot of players helped out by strong showing at the U18's - like Kemel, Ohgren on the INTL side and Gauthier and Howard on the NA side.
This is being billed as a decent but not spectacular draft (2023 is supposed to be loaded)
So one Eastern series (BOS vs CAR) and one Western (COL vs NSH) are 2 - 0, all others are 1 - 1.
Maybe we'll get some games 7's.
With no horse in this race, I'm hoping for OT's and game 7's.
Wild, and Kaprizov build on last game and take a 2 - 1 lead on the road. Kaprizov has 5 pts in 3 games.
EMD puts up points like they should, smoke the Kings 8 - 2 and take a 2 - 1 series lead. Kane has 6 pts in 3 games, McDavid has 5 or 6 as well.
Leafs use their O as well, to take a 2 - 1 lead. Marner has 6 pts in 3 games.
About to go down 2 - 1 to the Caps.
Panthers look in complete disarray and the Capitals look very confident. Looking forward to seeing Cale Makar next game.

same here, and the Mets are rained out again, so hockey all night it is.
Kuemper took a stick to the eye, hope he's ok, players have lost sight before by taking a stick to the eye.
Taking NOTHING away from Makar BTW.
Makar with a 3 point game, Landeskog with 4.
COL better hope Kuemper is ok, Francouz can beat NSH, but probably not keep them alive much beyond that IMO

COL coach Jared Bednar said Darcy Kuemper has "some swelling" around the eye, but it is not too serious. It is possible the goalie plays Monday in Game 4.
I love Matthew Tkachuk as a player, but he sometimes seems more interested in stirring up shit than scoring. Such a good player, but no reason IMO to drop the gloves with Klinberg, if I'm DAL I'd take that addition by subtraction move all day.

UPDATE: Bruins defenseman Charlie McAvoy has been placed in NHL COVID-19 protocol and will not be available for today’s game.
makes sense now, I thought that was purely a Canada government thing, not NHL
this is more what I expected for this series. Even without McAvoy pretty thorough domination.
Kind of top heavy with the B's top line doing the damage, but that's what I expect of their top line. Arguably the best line in the league.

If I didn't hate Jack Edwards so much I'd care about that by TDA, but...
Jonathan Quick finds the fountain of youth vs the schizophrenic Oilers and LAK tie up the series.
All 4 series yesterday are now tied at 2.
The only series that cannot be tied at 2 tonight is the Avs.
that was quick.
Josi
Makar
Hedman
Only ones that are not are COL who closed out NSH and PIT vs NYR.
FLA dodged a bullet - pulling the goalie with 3+ min left, WAS having a chance to extend the lead with the empty net and Hathaway tries to go the length of the rink and hit the EN, but he missed for an icing, and FLA tied it on the ensuing possession. And then won in OT.
in other words the only day annually us Devils fans need to care about :-)

yes, the Canadiens made it to the SCF last year and that was fun, but more often than not lately I'm right there with you, only without the ping pong ball luck.
Good news this year is MTL can't pick worse than #3 and I like the top 4 or 5 this year a lot.

Seems like only Shane Wright will play in the NHL next year right?
I have read two or three Patrice Bergeron comps on Wright lately and while I don't like putting that kind of pressure on a player i think that might take a little pressure off if people expect him to be good defensively before offensively, though ironically two of Bergeron's best offensive seasons were when he was 19 and 20. Never reached that lofty point total again until he was 33 years old.
I think Cooley, Slafkovsky (love his size and scoring touch), Savoie, Nemec, Kemell, etc. aren't far behind.
Shesterkin
Markstrom
Saros
No surprises, Shesterkin heavy favorite

Sort of.

That's true, lol, but the voting is done before the playoffs.
Most games played without winning a cup in NHL history.
Most games played in NHL history for that matter.
2) Devils
3) Coyotes
Congrats, PJ
