strong pick - jeremiah had him 84 overall and his TE3

i love this pick.

Much like ruckert who i liked a little better, he didnt get a ton of chances to catch but he can block for sure.

Hoping he we finally have a two way TE
Stud!!!

0 drops on 43 targets (31 receptions for 353 yards)
Eric on Li : 4/30/2022 12:29 pm : link
phenomenal athlete who got a lot of reps blocking in a running offense. Would have been a perfectly fine pick in the 3rd, very nice value here.

LMAO!!

I would have gone with Iowa State DL
Mike in NY : 4/30/2022 12:29 pm : link

I like Isaiah Likely
90.Cal : 4/30/2022 12:29 pm : link
But I'm happy with Bellinger. Not bad. Could be our starting TE.
This is exactly the type of TE I’ve been asking for the past few years
Jay on the Island : 4/30/2022 12:30 pm : link
A great blocking TE who was underutilized as a receiver but has great athleticism.
Never watched him

I know it’s nice to have someone like Jason Kelce but give me a tight end like Kevin Boss and I am a happy guy.
Well that's something
Ten Ton Hammer : 4/30/2022 12:32 pm : link
Daniel Bellinger was drafted with pick 112 of round 4 in the 2022 draft class. He scored a 9.66 RAS out of a possible 10.00. This ranked 35 out of 1014 TE from 1987 to 2022. https://t.co/WVwvRa2b84 #RAS #Giants https://t.co/pijrXOosZa
Fuck yeah
KerrysFlask : 4/30/2022 12:32 pm : link
Perfect for the Y TE
Fourth round projection
jeff57 : 4/30/2022 12:32 pm : link
Y tight end with an NFL build and adequate athletic ability but a need to keep the motor running hot in order to maximize his potential as a run blocker. While he could use a little more grit at the point of attack, additional technique work will improve Bellinger's success rate as both a zone and man blocker. He won't create any coverage mismatches, but he has reliable hands, can make contested catches and is fairly savvy working against zone. He's a Day 3 prospect, but his consistency as a run blocker will determine whether he's a short-term backup or longer-term contributor.
Link - ( New Window )
I'm not sure hes a great blocker yet
AcesUp : 4/30/2022 12:32 pm : link
But he doesn't need to be. He's good enough and hasn't really had the opportunity to put up big receiving numbers in college. It just seems like a profile that has hit in the middle rounds like a Dawson Knox.

Fifth round projection on this site
jeff57 : 4/30/2022 12:51 pm : link
Daniel Bellinger aligns in-line as a Y and flexed out as an F. He is a sufficient-level athlete with regards to overall speed, quickness, and agility. In the run game, he has moments of being a dominant in-line blocker. He is physically tough, has good length, and does a good job blocking in the run game. He is athletic enough to get to cut-off on the backside and can engage at the second level. In the passing game, he isn't a dynamic threat but has redeeming value in his size, catch radius, and blocking ability. He isn't a great separator as a route-runner but shows good natural hands as a pass-catcher. He has a good catch radius, is a big target when catching seam routes, and will absorb contact. In the NFL, he would be best served in an offense that runs sets with multiple TEs.

Not as well polished as a receiver/route runner but he has better speed/quickness than Schultz

Would not surprise me if he was TE1 over RSJ and Akins.

ColHowPepper : 4/30/2022 1:29 pm : link
Sy' cites his blocking/point of impact capability as his downside, needs to man up his strength and NFL DEs/DTs will eat him up.

best TE in the draft...
Mike in St. Louis : 4/30/2022 1:36 pm : link
according to the East Village Times...

"Among current NFL players, Bellinger’s athletic profile most resembles San Francisco 49er, George Kittle. Like Bellinger, Kittle’s reputation coming out of college was as a blocker. In the NFL, Kittle has grown into an elite pass-catcher. Kittle and Bellinger are represented by the same agent and have worked out this offseason."

"Over the next couple of years, one of two narratives will form. Either a team will draft Bellinger in the middle rounds, where most mock drafts predict, and fans across the league will bemoan that their teams passed on him multiple times. Or a forward-thinking GM will step up earlier to secure Bellinger’s talent for his franchise. In either case, Bellinger will make who selects him look like a genius because Daniel Bellinger is the best tight end in the NFL draft."

We've been lacking a hard nose two way tight end for years. I know I'm being overly optimistic but lets not forget that Bavaro was a 4th round pick. Would love to see DB catch a slant over the middle and run over a few defenders like back in the day
….
christian : 4/30/2022 3:14 pm : link
I found it quite silly Kafka would help build an offense without a 2-way TE, having come up with a team with a great one.
When the Combine was conducted,
TC : 4/30/2022 3:41 pm : link
I was tracking the performance among different position groups that interested me such as TE. I couldn't help but notice that Bellinger was in the top 5 of virtually every drill. The video of him going through the various drills showed a large, athletic TE who moved very smoothly (Sorry can't find it anywhere.) The gauntlet drill showed a natural hands catcher with sticky hands, and game video showed the same thing.

No doubt at this point he requires development, but with that ability at 6'5" 253 the raw material is there. And I see the potential for a TE who is equally effective blocking and catching, particularly in movement based offense which is what the Daboll/Kafka offense is starting to look like to me.

That said, he's only a 4th round pick, and while some exceptional players can come from the 4th round, the odds go down compared to the premium picks in the 1st, 2nd and top of the third.

This makes me reflect on the Giants choice to, in effect, trade Breece Hall, a RB I really like for Robinson and a 4th. When I see a player like Robinson drafted I always say to myself, well, they must know better than me. Unfortunately, I'm usually disappointed. Hope this time I'm disappointed in being disappointed.

Guy is tiny, no matter how tough, or playing in the SEC, and just hope a spot on IR isn't already reserved for him..
Love this pick

MARK BAVARO ??? .... SACRILEGE!!!

REMOVE HIM!

(J/K)

Bavaro was a 4rth round pick because of health issues. I forgot what it was? Bad knee(s)?

I remember when Gil Brandt(?) the Cowboys GM at the time (?) was asked why he didn't take Bavaro in the first 3 rounds? This was after Bavaro was in the league for about 2 years? Brandt's answer was ...

"We underestimated his tolerance for pain"

Bavoro had serious knee issues if I recall - in college. That answer still gives me chills to this day.

Parcells didn't want to fight him (famous soundbite from a multitude of sports docs on the Giants)_ ... lol.
