Bradberry is a nice corner who gave us a terrific year in 2020. But he's aging and no one is confusing him for Darrell Revis or Champ Bailey.
If he signs with the Eagles, I wouldn't sweat it for a second. It's not like's he's already played in Wink's system...
Agree. Some fans worry too much. What do the Eagles get if they pick him up? The difference between Bradberry and the guy who would have been playing in his place. Is that going to make the Eagles a Super Bowl contender by itself? No. Is it going to doom the Giants to more years like the stretch we've just been through? No. The teams we hate are going to get good players now and then. Stuff happens. It's not like they're getting a Hall of Fame QB at his peak.
kyler gordon and andrew booth were on the board after the giants original slot 36 in round 2. I think if the giants were planning to cut bradberry for no retun they would not have traded back.
but in this scenario I don't think it's hard to make the case. His play took a step back but didn't fall off a cliff. He's not too old. He may be revitalized in a new D. And while he may not be part of the solution long term if he plays well this year you can always trade him. In fact a reworked deal might make him a more attractive option to revisit a trade next offseason. Or even sooner when someone goes down in training camp.
I understand that new management is not keen on contract extensions, but Bradberry is still one of the better cornerbacks in the league and only 29 years old. He's on the last year of a 3 year contract, redoing his contract and signing him to a new one could essentially provide the same cap relief as trading or cutting him, plus you would still have a strong cornerback group.
I'd be surprised to see him cut and not traded even for a crazy low draft pick.
I could be wrong but I think trading him would save the Giants more than cutting him (might be specifics I'm not seeing). They also have some (if only a little) control over who takes him (albeit a possible dick move) in a trade. The team trading for him would own his rights for at least 1 cost-controlled year. They wouldn't have to compete with any other interested teams on a salary as he will get a new contract if re-signed.
On that basis, if the decision was to move on from him, they should trade him for a washing machine if that's the best offer they get. Better then cutting him.
I feel like I'm missing something. What am I missing?
RE: RE: Can someone please send article to Joe Schoen
Much rather they extend him then cut him for nothing. Maybe add two yrs see if he regains some value. Ik this regime has said they don’t want to push money ahead and it seems most beat writers will destroy him for it but we have plenty of space ahead and in all reality it’s a pretty routine move as far as nfl front offices are concerned. The talk about cap has been so exhausting this off-season.
Unlikley JB is a perfect fit for any team at his price tag.
Besides, that isn't really our concern as much as he doesn't seem to fit into our future.
Take a paycut or you're released on Friday seems to be the bottom line message...
I don't even like the idea of a restructure. Just end the relationship so we can get younger, and have the young guys get much needed experience.
Roll the dice with Jax, Robinson, Holmes, Flott, etc.
Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing of importance happening this year.
But if JB takes enough of a pay cut so we have him as more of an option in 2023 then i do the deal. I am not a fan of drafting CBs high and don’t want to give the Front Office any more of a reason to consider that i next draft if can avoid it.

What if Kelee Ringo is available?

His lifetime highlight is over. It was good though...
He is not one for the Giants imv as a corner. I think the Giants don't have corner 1 on the roster. It would be a big win if they identify answers (younger and cheaper) at the other corner spots this year with some depth.
probably going to be released. at 29, he'll be 31 by the time the team is really ready to be good again. who is going to pay him then? probably a goner

The #Eagles are expected to “aggressively pursue” CB James Bradberry if he does get released, per @JustinM_NFL
. Howie Roseman has also been “routinely tied” to Bradberry throughout this process.
The Eagles formerly brought in Nmadi A, DRC, Slay, etc. Does anyone think JB will make a significant difference? He'll be on the downside of his career soon, if he isn't already. Let's just roll with our young DBs....
And what team is a real good starting CB not a fit for?

Agreed
Finding 15 million in cap is not brain surgery.....I expect the Giants to be smart.
Send him away...out of division.....or restructure seems like simple options plan a, plan b...etc

Who cares? Neither of those teams are winning a SB anytime soon...

One of my fears, he ends up in Philly or Dallas

How do you know? Did you think Cincy would come within 5 minutes of winning one this year?

If Wink is convinced last year was some kind of outlier for JB, they’ll probably rework him. Otherwise, they might simply cut ties.
I have no clue how they might be leaning at present.
