It's a LH pitcher.
Cahna is hitting like a 2 hitter.
This lineup is so deep it's hard to find an early spot for everyone. If anything I'd put McNeil 9th
I missed that....I hope he stays on track with no more issues, but I don't think it is realistic.
Can't find anything on this...some kind of side session I suppose.
that was procedural to make room for the guy they claimed (from STL?) it's still retro to when he was placed on IR and doesn't impact his time frame (assuming all goes well).
LOL!

Trading McNeil is just as dumb as dumping so much money into analytics just to not use analytics. Old school baseball, baby!
LOL!
please don't summon him from his sleep.
also leading the team in fwar.
probably a good time to buy out some FA years from him and Alonso (both overagers).
i dont hate joely. id still do that trade. Castro is fools gold. he has his highest walk rate of his career so far this year so it's only a matter of time before his season goes south.

At least gets us that

Neither do I. Mets seem like their poised to kill his arm in the first half of the year, so just remembering the good times lol
This is everything we've ever wanted as Mets fans.
So much for that bs report.
Felt like the offense was sleep walking and we still won 4-2 like it was nothing.
Awesome.
Did you see the baserunning tonight? Old school fundamental baseball like it used to be
Pete has half his hits the other way. McNeil going the other way and up the middle. Old school fundamental baseball
And Syndergaard takes a shot at the Mets after it "this is what a "real" no-hitter looks like"
not sure why the need to stir shit up, and it's not like he pitched it either.
Not sure who would be available at the deadline but I'm hoping thats what we're looking for (oh and Jake would be a nice addition too... lol)

But Reid Detmers just through a no-hitter for Angels versus Tampa Bay

hes a loser. does he still think he's thor?
Escobar is notoriously a bit of a streaky hitter. I would not mind dumping Dominic Smith for a middle of the order 1B/LF type and use Alonso as primary DH but also have the ability to rest Canha.
I still have some hope J.D. Davis can be a real DH, he hits righties; just has to lay off the heater upstairs.
But Martinez would be a great addition.
Yes, Buck making all the right moves so far; playing everyone, not burning out the pull-pen, etc.

Here’s the article; he sounds like a whiny ex-lover, lol. You got paid a ton of money and are pitching well, move the fuck on, dude….
Move on, dude - ( New Window )
never a great idea to burn a bridge with the richest owner in the sport.
But first you give Dom and JD a chance too see what they can do
Still, in the NL the Mets are:
* 1st in hits
* 1st in OBP
* 2nd in BA
* 3rd in R
* 4th in TB
* 4th in RBI
* 4th in OPS
* 5th in BB
I think they're all right. Can't get TOO greedy.

Record is great but this team has a lot of trouble scoring runs. Definitely needs more production at third base.

Cmon..
Way too early to be talking like this, are you guys/girls following the rest of the teams in this league? Do you not see how many proven players are not hitting right now.
Baseball is a summer sport, that's when everyone and their abilities meet their capabilities. Lets have this conversation again mid July.
Personally I think both Dom and Davis pop off pretty soon.
Bullpen depth is a definite need tho.
Eppler's last first round pick for them.

It's not like Dom and Davis have a long track record that says they will suddenly pop off. As someone who has been teased with Escobar in the past in fantasy, he is the type of guy who will hit 1 or 2 HR in a month then explode for 12 the next. He is getting on base and not hitting into DP which is important. I am more concerned about Canha as he had injuries and has only played 127 or more games once in his career. 2 XBH in 23 games (79 AB's) is worse than Luis Guillorme territory. Guillorme is at 4 XBH in 18 games (40 AB's).
Just use the ignore button - like everyone else on these threads seems have been doing
You think Chili Davis ruined the offense? You are the most clueless dumb f*** ever
Assuming everyone is healthy, this would likely be postseason rotation:
Degrom
Max
Bassitt
Megill
That leaves Carrasco, Walker and DP for the pen.

I wouldn't be surprised if Carrasco is the 4th starter (if healthy) and Megill is in the bullpen. Megill reminds me a lot of former Mets pitcher John Maine. The stuff has a lot of movement and he can be dominant when he is on, but needs to be more economical with his pitching. In 3 of his last 4 starts Carrasco has gone at least 6 2/3 while throwing 91, 96, and 83 pitches in those 3 starts. Megill has only hit 6 2/3 ONCE all season. In the last 4 starts he has been at 87, 92, 88, and 94 pitches.

Also worth noting Megill's career high in innings is 130 (last season) prior to that his career high was 71. In fact, including college he's thrown 388 total innings (2015, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022) COMBINED.
@Noahsyndergaard
Hate to break to you, but this song ain't about you. This was about Reid, a great teammate, throwing a 1 pitcher No-Hitter, which is a rarity by today's game standards. Mets have a good team, enjoy that instead of stirring shit. As do the Angels, so drop the drama and move on.

That's rich coming from Synergaard!
@Noahsyndergaard
Oh and to be clear, I don't think a combined no hitter is the same as "real" 1 pitcher no hitter.
And Ban the Wave
And Mr. Met is a creep
And @RichardStaff
wife is never coming back.
So he's denying it was a shot at the Mets, and now essentially admitting it was? lol

My initial reaction was it was a shot at Johans no hitter, not the one from this year.
Total nonstory though
agree with the post above it was a positive for the team to move on from some of the talented players we've had who carried around baggage. it's one thing to talk and back things up, it's another to keep talking after 2, 3, 4 years of not backing things up.
Who? Spencer Strider?
Quote:
is going to be a PROBLEM for the Mets soon. Sitting 99 with a 43% whiff% on his slider. Absolutely NASTY. deGromian. 2021... 94 innings 153 k's lol
Who? Spencer Strider?
Yeah, silly me forgot to include his name. Spencer Strider. He's not the biggest guy but has MASSIVE legs and helps generate really incredible pure stuff. He's nasty.

What do they plan to do with him? It seems like he only pitches once a week and it seems like a long relief role.
Are they stretching him out to start?
I have him in fantasy baseball because as you say his stuff is legit power and I feel like he will eventually have an important role just not sure what it will be.
His ERA is down to 0.59 with 1 1/3 scoreless frames today. 🔬
Is that really the impression people have of him? I'm not going to research his career on my phone but what are you referring to where you feel like he disappointed for multiple years?

i had a longed reply typed out and bbi crashed so a slightly shorter version (that ended up not so short).
he was great as a rookie and his 2nd year was his best, it was the only year he's received a CY vote (8th) or made an ASG. But since then he's only ever come close to being an ace in persona.
in the next 3 years from 2017-2019 he was as disappointing as the team around him. In 2019 the team won 86 games, JDG won his 2nd CY, and the team could have had a postseason with JDG/Thor/Wheeler/Stroman all healthy - but Thor went 10-8 with a 4.3 era. over those 3 years he was 24-14 with a 3.2 era in 60 something starts. not bad but not an ace.
the last 2 years he's thrown 2 innings, and last year in particular he did a lot of talking about coming back ahead of schedule only to then suffer setbacks. if he'd just come back in the normal 14-16 months maybe he's the difference in august/sept last year?
the cherry on top was his public campaigning to remain a met, wanting the QO, and not wanting to go elsewhere. cohen apparently wined and dined him. and after they gave him the QO he wanted he left in the middle of the night without giving them a chance to match the offer.
so like i said, after 5 years of a lot more talk than walk i wish him well on his 100 or so innings this year but am perfectly at peace with the extra pick and money from his QO reinvested into bassitt/sherzer. he can keep all his mets subtweets to himself.
It was no-hitter. Don’t be a thin-skinned prick like Noah and just enjoy it.
