If it’s up to Ravens head coach John Harbaugh, veteran safety Chuck Clark isn’t going anywhere. “To me, Chuck is a big part of this team, and I’m planning on Chuck being here,” Harbaugh said Saturday before the team’s rookie minicamp practice. “I’m not going to worry about all the other stuff. The other stuff is the other stuff. It’s part of pro football, I understand it.” The “other stuff” that Harbaugh is seemingly referring to is the speculation about Clark’s future after the Ravens used a first-round pick on Notre Dame safety Kyle Hamilton a little more than a month after they signed Marcus Williams to a five-year, $70 million deal. |

It just doesn’t make a ton of sense for the Ravens to trade Clark, unless they are presented with a really good offer, like an early-round draft choice or a solid player who fills a need. Several teams, like the Philadelphia Eagles, New York Giants and New York Jets are said to be looking for safety help, but it’s unclear how they view Clark. The 27-year-old is the type of no-frills, steady player who is valued more by the team he’s on than anybody else. But what if Clark forces the issue? The Ravens, in how they’ve handled the Hayden Hurst, Orlando Brown Jr. and Marquise Brown situations over the past few years, have made clear that they’ll work to accommodate players who want out. Clark hasn’t made any public declarations to that end unless you count a tweet last Friday night that said, “This can go one or two ways. It can go Up, it can go Down. Either way I’m Prepared!!” It’s easy to see, however, why Clark wouldn’t be pleased with developments this offseason. He has two years left on a team-friendly deal that pays him a base salary of $2.75 million this year. If the Ravens had visions of extending his contract, this would have been the offseason to do it. Instead, they went out and made Williams the seventh highest-paid safety in football and then used the first of their two first-rounders on Hamilton. |

“I love Chuck Clark,” Harbaugh said. “I love the way he plays, and I’m very happy that he’s a Raven.” For how long, though, will he remain a Raven? That suddenly feels like a fair question. |
They need to value every draft pick, and if they move Slayton it should be either to get additional pick(s), or a younger player.
i.e. "Let the kids play!"
Work his agent, throw a respectable offer to the Ravens.
Some stability in the secondary .

If they lose another 1.8M in space, Slayton is probably a cap casualty just to tread water.
We are not trading for anyone..
This is Year 1 of rebuilding. You don't give up pics at this time.
Unless a guy wants to sign with the Giants for the vet minimum I dont see it happening. We still may have to redo LW just to have working capital for the season. If we have a guy get hurt or a bunch get hurt that money is going to go quick.
Certainly don't see Schoen throwing a pick for him, obviously.
By drafting Belton, it helps depth but it depends how Wink also feels about the current S situation.
They could end up using Jarren Williams at S.
b) he has 2 very team friendly years. i don't think his value is far beyond Slayton's but the extra cheap year of control is what probably adds a pick into the mix.
im the last person who likes giving away picks but remember they are already likely to be +3 on day 3 picks next year from 2 comp picks and the BAL 7th they got back in the Bredeson deal.
also remember Schoen showed how easy it is to create 2 extra day 3 picks (#112 and #148 i think) from thin air by moving down 7 slots in round 2.
in a span of 20-30 minutes he literally created the kind of return we were hoping to get for Bradberry or Barkley over the last 2 months.
so again, day 1/2 picks are a total no fly zone but a day 3 pick and Slayton for a guy who would likely come in and get a C day 1, give Wink a versatile player who lines up everywhere and knows how to succeed in his system? All day for me. I think a 5th or 6th is probably the right value zone and i'd bet right now at least 1 of the 4 guys they picked in those rounds will not even make the 53 this year.

i agree...slayton seems to be buried anyways on depth chart especially if toney and shep stay healthy.
Id offer slayton and a 6th or 7th to start. cap its an equal but we upgrade a position with lesser talent.

The #Eagles talked to the #Ravens about a potential Chuck Clark trade during the draft, per @caplannfl on @InsideBirds.
Also, according to @caplannfl, the #Ravens had interest in #Eagles WR Jalen Reagor, but no offer was sent and nothing went past that.
