But I can't believe there will be any discipline at all for that. Trouba didn't take a run at him. Didn't leave his feet. Despite what was claimed last night, it wasn't even an elbow at all. The contact was made with Trouba's upper arm/shoulder on Crosby's chest and his head snapped back like whiplash.
Probably could have been called a tripping minor, but that's it.
1. No one reacted to the hit real-time or thought it was dirty until they realized Crosby was hurt.
2. Trouba was playing the puck, not head-hunting, as evidenced by him poke checking the puck first.
I wouldn't have whined if they called a penalty. But a suspension seems ridiculous.
Mike Rupp says:
Quote:
If both #LetsGoPens and #NYR fan bases, take off the “homer” 👓 for a moment.. Zero intent by Trouba on Crosby, an elbow did hit a player in the head though, and I believe it will be disciplined.
The kid line is just bringing it. Laf has been so impressive on the big stage. I love what I'm seeing from him.
When we were down 2-0, I couldn't believe we were just going to roll over and die. Then game the 3 goal avalanche, and it was like all of a sudden, they woke up and snapped out of it.
Really hope we can get Motte back tomorrow. I feel like Panarin is more hurt than has been let on.. he hasn't really looked like himself to me.
Ryan Lindgren is such a tough SOB. I say this often, but he reminds me so much of young Danny G. His presence makes such a difference. We needed him.
Rangers in 7.
The kids have arrived, you said it. Regardless of how this series ends, we're seeing Kakko, Laf, and K'Andre blossom before our eyes. That's such a huge development. That Kakko shift late where he's killing clock along the boards holding the puck from three players, what a horse he is.
And shout out to Filip Chytil. I think we've all been unsure about his future here. But he's playing the same way as the other kids. Physical, playoff style hockey. Good for him getting that goal. That line carried us back into the game
What a game. We've got a chance.
Rupp's wrong though. Watch it from all angles, in slo mo
how much you Rangers fans think the league likes/favors Crosby, they would much rather a) have a game 7 and b) have the Rangers advance than the Pens. NY team advancing in the playoffs is far more valuable to the league than Crosby advancing.
They will not look for reasons to suspend Trouba (again IMO).
BTW, they're obviously going to take a run at Trouba tomorrow with whatever muscle they have (which isn't much...actually it's nothing. They're biggest guy is that powderpuff Brian Boyle). That'll only hurt them, especially since Reaves can knock each of them into oblivion.
Brian Boyle was always willing to fight, I'll give him that much
Despite the protests of Murray Chass' doppelganger, Igor has been far from his best in the past few games. They need the Igor who drained the life out of opponents all season with impossible saves.
and Rangers fans would be bullshit everywhere if in the same series the Pens knocked out the equivalent of:
Rackell (top 6 forward)
DeSmith (#2 goalie, filling in for #1 goalie)
Dumolin (top 4 D)
Crosby (one of the best players in the world, team captain)
and it doesn't matter intent or not - people here still feel like the Kakko goal being overturned was to help Crosby or that Igor wasn't at least partly responsible for the collision with Carter.
Fans see the same concrete evidence differently based on which team you are a fan of.

I agree, and I'm hoping his 3rd period last night sparks him going forward, because he was great in the 3rd. Let's see him go into Pittsburgh and get a shutout tomorrow night.
he skated through a player who HAD THE FUCKING PUCK, kept his feet, head wasn't the principal point of contact. there really wasn't even any sandpaper in the play.
He was making a stick-on-puck attempt, and Crosby had himself in an awkward position.
It would be a stretch to call that a penalty on the ice, but absolutely fucking absurd to consider a fine or suspension.

Clearly your point about fans seeing what they want to see is spot on, but your rap sheet there is kind of silly.
It's impossible to find video of how Doumolin (injury prone to begin with) and DeSmith got hurt...nor have I seen any credible suggestion or evidence that it was from any kind of dirty/late or even physical play from the NYR.
If we are including crap like that...let's throw Goodrow and Lindgren on the Pens tab. Carter/Igor situation is about on par with the awkward Crosby injury.
So really we are talking about a physical play of Lindgren on Rakell where he went too high and got penalized accordingly. It was clean enough that the refs downgraded it given the chance to review it on the spot.
You have multiple people on here calling Jeff Carter a "piece of shit" for the Igor collision and the guy is closer to lady byng than he is to a "marchand" or bemoaning the Pens fans calling for discipline - if it were reversed my point is Rangers fans would be acting the same.
probably not the right thread to bring it up on though, lol

spot on.
I loved Valiquette's crack about the Crosby dive after the faceoff with Zibanajed, the he was "hit by a sniper" from upper deck LOL.
Fans only see what they want to see. We complain about the penalties that Pens get away with and ignore the ones that Rangers get away with. Refs have impossible job.
Having said that I was very concerned that Trouba hit would be penalized by Parros.
Igor needs to come up big in Pittsburgh and shut them down

that's fair. I definitely welcome your perspective and participation in these threads. hope you didn't take that the wrong way.
RE: RE: comical that the Trouba hit even got airtime

The stick did clip his helmet so his initial reaction was genuine IMO, but then he stayed down on the ice afterwards because the Rangers had the puck 🤣
Sid was skating free in front of the net as he has done all series and he was not looking around like they teach you in junior high school.Instead, he was watching the puck.
So, he did not see Trouba coming until the last second. Even then he managed to avoid the brunt of the hit by turning his should and TRouba did not drive into him as he easily could have.
I don't think it was even that hard of a hit. It just forced him down in an awkward, twisted motion.
So, no way in hell was that a dirty hit. But because its Crosby, it gets magnified. If dryden Hunt took a hit like that, no one would even mention it (except maybe Anakim :)))

The thing about that play is Trouba absolutely could have leveled Crosby. He had him lined up, but he went for the puck and they collided awkwardly.
he's way too streaky to be the #1 center on a cup contending team in my view. Maybe streaky isn't the right word, whatever you want to call it, he aint it. He's obviously productive and prolific, but I just can't shake the feeling that we need a better front line center/presence to take the next step.
PS i have no problem signing him long term like the Rangers did. They had little choice.
Wouldn't hurt to have a big night on friday there Mika. You're the #1 center here. Go out and own that game.
Zib has been the biggest disappointment in this series
Had a fantastic year. Was probably top 5 in terms of 2 way centers. That being said, he hasn’t been good in this series. If he doesn’t elevate his game tomorrow, there probably won’t be a game 7. Need him to step up big time.
Probably could have been called a tripping minor, but that's it.

To correct this, Frank Seravalli is actually the one who broke it, Shayna commented on it.

I got you, Costy.
Would Nemeth actually be scratched or will he get the Stu Bickel (or in your words, the Stubickle) experience again.
Seems like if Lindgren can go next game they'd go back to 6 and 12, no?
What am I missing on how Motte impacts Nemeth?

As to the Crosby nonsense, it's the playoffs there Syd. Keep your fucking head up.
Remember Scott Stevens cracking skulls for a decade during the spring. Trouba's hit was child's play compared to that.
I’d settle for him winning 50% of the off and def zone face offs.
He looks utterly lost. I don't understand it. We need so much more from him.
Motte's coming back from a hit similar to Crosby's, no?

I believe Motte's injury was a broke collarbone.
