The sight of Guerrero with his head down as Judge jogged past him on his way around the bases after this walk off home run was so sweet! Vladdy is a great player and all, but I cant stand his beating his chest every time he gets arun scoring hit or makes a good play or scores a run. It was so satisfying to get the last laugh on him

Judge showed them up by not showing them up. Glad he’s on our side.
Hicks leads the team in OBP by a fairly wide margin.
Rumors of Jasson Dominguez's demise were greatly exaggerated: after a horrendous start, he's hit .306/.381/.571 in his last 12 games with 3 homers.
.
Hicks is also 2-18 with RISP. His OBP is only good because of walks, not hits. He is back to his normal BA, with little production. Hicks is not a good baseball player, average at best.
and i'm glad he did. If he stays healthy, his gamble will pay off.
Hicks is what he is - a nice 4th OFer on a winning team. The bigger issue is Gallo and what, if anything, can be done to pull his bat out of his pinstripes.
I think Hicks is also battling a perception problem
his brand of baseball just isn't fun. He's out there hunting walks, and the contact tool just isn't there as much you'd like it to be. I can appreciate, intellectually, that he gets on base, but if he's diminished defensively he's just not a very fun player to root for. Still - as a fourth outfielder, which is how he should be considered, there aren't many teams with a better player for that role.
Agree on Gallo, RP. I think he's the guy the Yanks are going to need to figure out an exit strategy for. I feel bad because I know he wants to perform here more than anything, but there's a pretty large sample size of him in the Bronx right now and very little production to show for it.
If this team is serious about winning a championship this year, his spot is the one I think an upgrade could have the biggest impact.
I've mentioned Benintendi as a great trade target and still think he's the best fit in terms of player profile/contract status. A few other guys who could fit the bill...
Tommy Pham
Brian Anderson
Mitch Haniger
If SP becomes a need, CIN is probably the team to call. Castillo and Mahle have essentially the same contract situation (1 year + 1 ARB) and I'm confident Blake could get the most out of either one.

So let's take a look at this logic. You want a guy who leads the team in OBP by 40 percentage points, but who is struggling hitting with men on base, not to hit leadoff to set the table for Judge, Stanton and Rizzo and possibly start an early rally, but to hit lower in the lineup so he can come up when there are other guys on base and possibly kill a rally?
Think about what you are saying. In reality, it would actually be foolish to put a guy who gets on base 40 percent of the time lower in the order. Hits would be nice, but who cares if he gets on base because of walks. He's on base more than any other Yankee. And it's better if he's on base in front of the top guys rather than Kiner-Falefa and Trevino.

Speaking of trades. There's an article in The Athletic suggesting 5 trades with one of them being Jasson Dominguez and Oswaldo Cabrera for MJ Melendez.
If the Yanks win this game, they'll move to 22-8. In their entire franchise history, they've only had a start this good or better through 30 games eight times.
120 seasons of baseball. 8 times.
That really sort of drives home how good this start has been.
A very good hitting catching prospect for the Royals who's blocked by Perez (team controlled through 2026). They called him up last week after another player went on IL and I believe he's 5/15 thus far.
RE: RE: I really wish Peraza was doing better in AAA
Hard to nitpick since everything is going so well, but IKF's entire purpose is to play good SS! C'mon dude!
He got really lucky that Kirk overslid the bag and Torres bailed him out with the tag earlier in the game also. He also has no pop at all and doesnt walk much. Not too impressed with his overall play

Melendez only has a pair of logged gams in RF in the minors, I believe... he hasn't played there yet with the Royals, but he's only played 5-6 games in the bigs.
Interestingly, he played a small handful of games @ 3B last year in Omaha.
He's a lefty stick, too.
Chapman is going to just have absolutely nothing today and make this interesting, isn't he?
yea i don't get it either.

Let’s go Yanks!
The major issues with Hicks this year are his lack of XBH and also that his arm in the OF looks really cooked now.
The leverage struggles are more recent; over his NYY career, those numbers actually are not bad at all.
He's getting on base at nearly a 40% clip and is still on pace to steal 20 bags if he can hit about 130 games. He has a 119 wRC+.
Aaron Hicks is a good player. A frustrating one at times, but a good player who really shouldn't be the whipping boy he's become.
Another W today would put TOR 6 games behind us. The Angels no-hit TB last night and annihilated their pitching for the 2nd consecutive game.
Keep creating separation. All of these games are huge.
Give Aaron Judge the fucking bag. He's worth it.

And Gallo just got a hit!
And Gallo just got a hit!
Agree. Higgy has no options left and quite honestly, I'd DFA him–no one's going to claim him. Call up Rortvedt.
If we're going to be far below average offensively @ C, at least have two elite pitch framers. Which we'd have with Rortvedt/Trevino.
If the spot is still an offensive black hole, maybe we call TEX about Garver.
Contreras is probably less likely, but that's the other C who could be available.

would be catcher. Yeesh.

I would also DFA Higgy. If someone else wants to pick him up, good luck.
Good to see Gleyber hitting. If he can be a consistently above average hitter the lineup becomes so much more dangerous.
And good to see our pitching make Guerrero break a bat in frustration

Also Clay holmes has been terrific . Looking back on the trade that got him was a steal of the century
He's not pull happy this season.
Cannot stand the Bichette’s. Mostly because Dante Jr sucked ass. What an awful fucking 1st round pick.
Hicks really has no power anymore and his arm is shot after the surgery
Hard to nitpick since everything is going so well, but IKF's entire purpose is to play good SS! C'mon dude!

KCR's #2 prospect behind Witt. He's a C.
Actually might not hate that. Seems unlikely, but I wouldn't hate it.

Why would the Royals trade the kid instead of Perez? Isn't Perez like 34?

That's actually me, you can hear me shouting in Manhattan from Carolina.
Ugh. It's Green.
Yep, I had the same thought. Every appearance an adventure.
