I got the Soprano vibes as well, except you know what happened. Jonah shot the PI. I never had an issue with the Sopranos ending. I took it as the writer saying you would never know whether any minute Tony would live or die.
Didn't have an issue with the Ozark ending either. These days too, they do movies (ie. Breaking Bad), and bring back series for additional years. So, they left it open for that, with the kids more active in the family business.
was packed into the last couple of episodes. The whole Jonah storyline/ending wasn't earned at all.
Yeah, the only thing I didn't like is that it did seem rushed. Jonah did a complete 180 way too fast. They were trying to make it appear as if Wendy apologizing and owning up to her shit smoothed everything over with him. That was way too rushed and unrealistic
for pretty much every TV show these days, but Ozark was way way way over the top. Hey, we're broke and need to launder money--let's buy a casino! and then another one!!
Let's call the CEO of a major pharmaceutical company and suggest that we supply the heroin instead of their current supplier! Wait, how about a different source for the heroin!
It got kind of old and redundant after a while. I slogged through the last season so I liked it a little, but I was disappointed. Seasons 1-2 were so promising, I imagine it's really hard to keep that level of writing and quality content going for too long.
I think four seasons is satisfactory enough. They did what they could, given their time/season limitations. I was fine with the ending too, certainly not left hanging, like the Sopranos. And certainly not as bad as GoT.
but they dragged some story lines out too long and I also thought Frank Jr would come to the rescue but I won't go into any spoilers.
just a missed opportunity IMO.
agreed and that would have been a better ending too. all things considered though they ended it a little better than i expected but like a lot of shows just evolved too far away from what made it fun in the first place.

Jonah wasn't able to shoot a couple of other people he aimed at, so what do we know? Did Jonah shoot the PI, or did he shoot the jar, so the Byrd's could destroy the only DNA evidence?
There were just way too many idiotic decisions made by virtually every

Good point, though I think that is secondary to the point of the ending. Whether Jonah shot the PI or the jar, and what he was aiming for, is secondary to the fact that he got full-fledged into the family business.
I enjoyed Ozark, but it was really not that original for me. The ending ripped off the Sopranos imo, and the entire series ripped off Breaking Bad.
Finale was decent until the last ten minutes. Ending was meh.
I think my problem is that I truly didn't give a damn if any of the characters ultimately made it out alive. There was only one character who I really wanted to "win" - and she got bumped off.
But I felt like this jumped the shark a long time ago. I don’t mind suspending disbelief for awhile. But don’t insult my Intelligence There wer way too many story lines that were ridiculous IMO.

+1 The writers got too cute and were anything but clever with the plot and the parade of innocuous characters.

Exactly this. Agree with you 100% on everything. For some reason the "family dinners" really started to grate on me...they felt more and more forced. All that said, I thought the best episode was S3E9. Emmy worthy performances for all. They pulled the pin in that episode and set the stage for the grenade to blow in S4...and it never did.
the last seaon felt rushed or too long, not sure...didnt flow like the previous seasons. I'm ok on how it ended. Wendy became unlike-able and un watchable after ahile.
The Navarro cartel? Sam's new life in North Carolina? Frank Jr? Three? I dunno, got nothing. Ruth was the only obvious choice for a spinoff and that's not happening now.
The FBI was profiting off the money seizures
I didn't love the final episode either, but the show as a whole was my favorite on TV, tied with Better Call Saul. Will miss it.
just a missed opportunity IMO.

Asked in the other thread and didn’t get an answer. I didn’t undrerstand why would the fbi get in bed with the cartel.

Thanks
Perfectly put.

I didnt like the end but expected it.
other than the Byrds, there's hardly any surving characters that are even remotely interesting, lol.
