Late Wednesday night, they demoted righty reliever Ron Marinaccio to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Early Thursday, they promoted right-hander Luis Gil, who will start against the White Sox in the series opener at Guaranteed Rate Field.
Gil so far in 2022 in Scranton: 5 starts, 0-3, 9.53 ERA, 17 IP, 18 H, 18 ER, 5 HR, 12 BB
FWIW, they probably have him working on secondary and tertiary pitches at SWB.
Or he is just having a shitty start to the year and is closest to his rotation spot and on the 40 man roster.
Obviously he and Garcia have struggled so far @ SWB. The pitching matchup is pretty lopsided tonight and yet, I still feel like this team can win this game.
The NYY farm hand to keep an eye on is Wesneski; he's pitched quite well.
29 IP, 2.48 ERA, 2.89 FIP, 1.86 BBB/9
Cease and Kopech have been gross so far this year, so the bats are hopefully awaking from the post 3-day break slumber they went into vs. TEX.
care to guess what his FIP was, you dense motherfucker?

Waldichuk has looked awesome as well.
Indeed. Much better results in Somerset this year so far. He's been excellent.
in the zone - two big RBI hits this inning to batters under the Mendoza line who have no. chance. on his fastball, and then he cracks off a couoka 86-MPH cement mixers up in the zone which they tag for three runs combined. What friggin game is Higgy calling back there?
It seems nobody has FB command. Also, 99% of them throw FB/SL/CU.
If Higgy isn't hitting a lick, I'd rather have Trevino in there everyday for defense. He can bat zero for all I care.
He frames much better and calls a better game too.
I agree the hanging sliders got him into trouble in the 2nd inning. Higgy better watch his back. When Rortvedt is ready he could very well be out of a job. Not too much whining going on over Stanton these past few years...

I know there is a thread going on BBI about black holes - how about Hicks and Gallo batting 6 and 7 or whatever they are
If someone told us before the season started how bad Hicks, Gallo, the catchers, and Donaldson (to a lesser extent) would be, there is no way we'd expect to have the best record in baseball. The pitching has been superb, and the other hitters have done enough (with Judge vying for the MVP).

Last year, the Prime games were WPIX simulcast. This year, they are 21 games exclusive to Prime. So, less games on WPIX. Then there are the AppleTV games, and some games on Peacock. So, there are at least 3 streaming services you must have to see all the games this year. I have 2 of the 3. I'm not adding Peacock just for this.

Last year is obviously much more indicative of how he's pitching right now than last week. Great stuff, Stan, very insightful.

Really wish they could use Schmidt but he isn't eligible to come back up until the 15th

3.07 ERA.

No, more indicative is MLB starts that count vs. Minor league where he's working of different things. But carry on...

Looks a little broader then last year, plus a few extra tats!
Needed the extra starter because of the double header

Who was supposed to start for us tonight that he is replacing?

Stanton doesn't get enough love in the media.
This Sox pitcher has 11 strikeouts through 4 innings, but 6 of the 7 balls the Yankees have put into play have been hits.
except for the WP run...

Yeah, no Peacock here.
