Maybe it's just me, and I'm just making an observation here, but every time I have Pho, it plain blows me away with how good it is; and just how aromatic and complex the layers of tastes and textures in it are. It is also very satisfying and filling.
Anyone one else like Pho?
bahn mi with a side of pho broth like a french dip.
It’s not pronounced ‘FO’?
Oh god, does that mean it’s pronounced ‘POO’?
No doubt.

And if I'm being honest, my gut reaction is to internally "roll my eyes" at anyone who says it properly.

Have had some delicious ramen though.
I mean, it can be pretty darn good, but if we're talking soups, I prefer a good tonkotsu ramen or tom kha.

Isn't it more FUH?
Which makes it pretty funny that there's a place near me called PHO KING.
Everyone always raves about it. It'd always pop up on my Facebook feed around 2014 or so because it was the big thing to have. I never go on there but those people who'd boast about it ... are long gone off my friends list lol
Underexposed may be a better term than underappreciated.
Good call, 100% agree.
It's not just the protein. It's everything else, especially in the yolks.
it's a meal - a very filling meal

Just how is one supposed to rate it compared to other soups?

So were all of the soups I used to eat for lunch in NYC when noodle shops were popping up all over the place. So was my Mom's lentil soup she used to make with bulk Italian sausage. So was the menudo I used to get at this little hole-in-the-wall place in Austin, TX, years ago. Soup is still soup, whether you consider it meal or not. I like Pho. I like my "niece's" Laotian variation. But it's still just soup.

You have an Armani suit that you want to give me, Kenny Bania?
And its definitely soup which can be part of or all of a meal. The portion size dictates that.
Re Banh mi, there is a place in Elmhurst called Joju, they have tremendous sandwiches and they've incorporated fusion with other (Bulgogi Banh mi with runny egg) my god its good.
I had some yesterday. Haven’t had it in years. It’s really good
ps. I forgive Klaatie. He also thinks sauce can’t be red.

There is great vegetarian pho and the fresh rolls!
I'm going with canned tuna.
