When we go 4 wide along with Golladay, Toney and Robinson? Assume Shepard is out to start the season, and Slayton is cut for cap space.
New guys like Foster, Proehl or James? Holdovers Board, Bachman, Sills, or Colin Johnson? Toivonen?
Or do you even consider using Breida as a moveable piece along with Saquan?
I like the idea of four speedsters along with Golladay as the safety blanket against single coverage against LBs on short to medium underneath stuff to move the chains. What about you?
Right now Robinson is probably the 4th WR...a lot is going to change by August.
Diggs = Toney (all over guy defenses put their #1 on, won't get as many targets as diggs)
Sanders/Knox = Golladay (Golladay can play the big slot, Shep can take some of the Sanders role when healthy)
Beasley = Robinson (with more verticals)
McKenzie = James / Breida / Barkley
I think Daboll wants interchangeable receivers with speed so they can pick matchups they like and exploit them. bring different guys in motion and have defenders equally worried about a jet sweep/screen pass or a deep ball. give up cushion and they will take 5-10 yard dump offs. play up and they are taking shots over the top 1 on 1.
I agree Slayton is not long for the roster. I don't think Daboll wants a one trick pony where DBs can just sit back deep knowing slayton is unreliable in the intermediate levels. Golladay is also not a great fit but they are stuck with him so i think they will try to maximize him however they can.
I know everyone feels Slayton is destined to be cut but if you put the cap issue aside, Slayton was the best receiver last year. That isn’t saying much but it is true.
They might keep him around for a while to see what they have in the new offense. Worst case, they may be able to trade him just before the season starts.

Nah, not at all. Just trying to gauge who others are most interested in to see emerge in whatever our new offense will be. I doubt Robinson is any less than #3 and will see lots of snaps. Him, Toney, Golladay, and Barkley’s usage will define our scheme. I’d expect the TE/H Back and 4th WR to split snaps. No clear favorite that I can see. Blitz, who are curious to see?
Also with more of a spread offense, more defenders in coverage means less pass rushers, and more time for the receivers to get open.
Interesting.
The only thing that concerns me is team defenses playing closer to the LOS creating a lot of traffic on those short to intermediate routes and all but snuffing the running game.

Excellent analysis.
Golladay, 3 speedy guys, and an Allen as the hot outlet could be fun to watch as the ball gets matriculated down the field.
Slayton hit playing time performance bonuses from being a late round pick that increased his salary to 2.5m.

Jones' best quality has been his deep ball and Robinson in particular hit a ton of deep balls at UK. Golladay was a vertical receiver until he met Jason Garrett (16 ypc for his career) and last year Toney showed he can go up for the ball downfield in his few games with Jones.
I think there's going to be a lot of short passes combined with more shots down field than average, not a ton in between. I'm sure they will have some quick crossers to keep the defense honest but i think the staples of the offense are going to be quick passes around the LOS and shots down the field.
As others have said, we'll probably see more of Barkley as a receiver, and maybe Jeremiah Hall, too, if they keep him.
Interesting.
