The Titans have no idea what to expect in week 1 from the Giants. We know what to expect from Titans. Stack the box stop the run. Giants by 10 very early prediction. Coaches always said first 3-4 weeks are the toughest.
allen was 35/47 for 353 yards. he only averaged 7 yards per completion and his long was just a 31 yarder to Sanders but he spread the ball around with 9 receptions to diggs, 7 to beasley, 5 to sanders, 7 to running backs.
they only ran the ball with their RBs 14 times (9 carries by Allen).
they lost 34-31 but outgained TEN and won time of possession by 5 minutes.
Henry ran for 3 tds and the TEN D shut out them out in the 4th Q but Daboll seemingly had an effective plan to spread out their D.
I’m really not understanding where this optimism is coming from
From GM to coaches to Free agency, cap savings, draft, etc but this is not a good football team.
The offense alone could be starting 3 to 4 rookie plus a couple 2nd year players in a completely new system on both sides of the ball.
We are going to have a world of growing pains but I do think it will be an exciting season with a bunch of big plays and might catch a team or 2 off guard.
Of starting the season well. I suppose that’s rather obvious by their record the first part of the season. We are usually checking out mock drafts by then. Would like to see that change. Maybe be ready to play NFL football when the season starts. Ya know just to mix it up a bit?
I have a new co-worker in Nashville, 4 hour drive from me.
As soon as I saw Giants @ Titans today I told him "we're going".
He's only a casual NFL fan though. He said, I think I remember that the Titans are pretty good and the Giants are not?
I responded, true, the Titans are certainly capable of, and likely to crush the Giants through a strong running game and solid defense. But no one, including the Titans really has any idea what to expect from the Giants so anything could happen!
I cannot wait! That is a beautiful stadium and probably it is going to be gorgeous weather.
If you’re not at least a little optimisticWhat’s a completely new gene
With a completely new general manager, head coach, offensive and defensive coordinator, major philosophy changes on both sides of the ball, new lines and weapons… let’s just say I wouldn’t want to be your waiter
RE: I hope that by game 1, we can have a cohesive OL which is
However, a strong can make a huge difference vs a team like Tennessee. Then the D creates a couple of turnovers with an actual pass rush....Maybe.
We can dream!
One of the benefits of all of these veteran FA signings at guard and center is that there should be less mistakes such as miscommunications due to their experience.
I am higher on Shane Lemieux than most here and I think that he will at least begin the season as the starting LG. Remember that Andrew Thomas and Shane Lemieux worked together during their rookie season and spent all offseason and training camp together until Lemieux went on IR. They are comfortable together and adding an experienced center like Feliciano will help.
Glowinski will solidify the RG spot next to Evan Neal. I am not worried about the offensive line at all as they should start off strong and continue to get stronger as they begin to gel. Also the depth should be strong as I expect them to keep Gono, Ezeudu, McKethan, and one out of Bredeson, Gacia, and Douglas. If Bredeson looks comfortable enough at center to start if Feliciano goes down then he will win that final spot. If not Garcia likely makes it as he can also play center.
Cunningham will likely serve as depth on the PS along.

Make all of the metaphors (or whatever) you want to. How about a new QB? That would get me more into being enthusiastic about the upcoming season.
RE: I’m really not understanding where this optimism is coming from
This is basically still the same team it was last year only, they cut a bunch of dead weight.
Not really true. Certainly the OL is in far better shape and there is the off chance we’ll have some WR healthy. We’ll also have a legit pass rusher on D. And there is more than a bit of addition by subtraction. Not predicting a win but it’s not the “same team.”

Optimism for the future I get. Expecting them to exceed next year I do not.
Is that flashy thing from Men In Black real?
Same team? Ahhh no. Do you think the coaching staff has no effect on a team? How aout 2 first round draft picks?
Don't waste your time with them. If they've watched football for long enough and still don't understand the parity and year to year turnover that exists in the NFL, then you might as well be talking to a brick wall.
Giants Giants might suck...but they also might be very competative
The defense is probably going to be very shakey. But assuming good health. The Giants are going to be difficult to handle on offense. Toney, Golladay, Shepard, Robinson, Barkley and Daniel Jones legs are all significant weapons.
Last year's Titans reminded me of Rex Grossman's bears
the year they made it to the dance. A lot of things broke right for them but you knew they weren't very good. Giants by 10 is silly to predict, but unlike that year, according to Tynes anyway... we might not be who they think we are.

That's a bit of a stretch no?
They smashed the Rams and were able to come back after SF was taking it to them.
Tannehill maybe can't win a bowl with the Titans, but I could see him win a SB with Rams/49ers.
Rex Grossman is such a different era. A whole bunch of "game manager" QBs of the last decade would be SB champs if they had played with comparable teams in his era.
I’m talking about what I’ve seen on BBI this week from some. Look at the over/under expectations thread. It’s baffling.
Yeah i am with you. One might say "let them be hopeful" but The problem with unrealistic Expectations is that when they are unmet, the person feels let down and it provides fuel for anger and vitriol.
Ten. knows who they are (defense and run the ball). We have EVERYTHING new. There's virtually know way, with the limited practices and pre-season, for us to have any kind of cohesion in any capacity. It's FAR more likely, we get blown out.
If last year is any indicator, the Titans seemed to play up or down to their competition pretty consistently. Look at their wins and losses.
I don't see it as crazy to see the Giants improving on their win total from last year either. I think they'll be a lot better on offense just by way of scheme and upgrading from half a season of Glennon/Fromm back to Jones. I am expecting a slight bump in the OL play even if I wouldn't classify them as league average unit yet. My hot take is that the offense will be a lot better than the defense. I know some have high expectations for Wink but his scheme is boom/bust and puts a lot of pressure on your personnel department to get him the horses he needs. We don't have those pieces on the back end. It could be a really rough year for us defensively, I'm expecting a handful of games where teams hang some Madden numbers on us.
Win total predictions before the season are kind of dumb because of luck and injuries. A team can be 6-win caliber in reality but if things break certain ways they can easily rattle off 10 wins or catch the shit-end and be drafting 1 overall. The Giants do have the easiest schedule in football by implied Vegas odds, this is off a year where they had one of the most difficult. That by itself is probably worth a win or two.

I don't think it's optimism. Think it's just the fact that week 1 is typically weird in the NFL. This is from last year.
Steelers beat the Bills
Seahawks beat the Colts
Cardinals beat the Titans
Saints beat the Packers
Fins beat the Pats
Raiders beat the Ravens
Browns only lost by 3 to the Chiefs
Lions were in a 1 score game with SF
The offense alone could be starting 3 to 4 rookie plus a couple 2nd year players in a completely new system on both sides of the ball.
We are going to have a world of growing pains but I do think it will be an exciting season with a bunch of big plays and might catch a team or 2 off guard.
Cardinals beating the Titans isn’t either; they were a good team that completely fell apart at the end of the season.
Raiders beating the Ravens might be an upset but, again, not unusual.
Seahawks beating the Colts isn’t either. The Colts are not the team they once were.

No it s not. The offensive line is majorly different

There is probably a very good chance both QBs keep the other team in the game.
