win this with our without Crosby, but without him the Rangers run away with it to force game 7 at home.
I wouldn't have gone to the Brett well again - but without Crosby I don't think the negative energy Brett brings will be enough to counter the fact the Pens are a lesser opponent.
No need to have Nemeth dressed. Waste of a sweater.
Motte would be a big addition to the lineup, but I have a feeling we won't see him tonight. I'm looking forward to seeing what things look like at the morning skate. Even when Lindgren came out of the game the other night, Nemeth didn't play, so it does seem wasteful to have him in the lineup tonight. I know they won't have Jones come in, but hell I'd prefer to see Hajek in over Nemeth.
Guy has been out since a game or two after the trade deadline. Asking a lot of a player to just dive in to an intense series and play as if mind and body will didn't notice the layoff. I don't see Gallant inserting him in a win-or-go-home game.
And, Brett, you gonna take those fighting words laying down? It's like pj is a .... Canadians fan!
really? you think Motte is close to Goodrow? He is a good defensive player and physical, but I never considered him close to Goodrow.
One thing that is similar with both Motte and Goodrow is they are both sneaky good at face-offs, so it's nice to have either out there to close out games or even on the PK to either take a face-off or just as insurance in case your center is kicked out. Sometimes that aspect is overlooked when you give up a late goal off a face off and you look and see the C was kicked out and no one on the ice was good at face offs.
Zib, Kreider, Panarin and Strome have to be much better than they have been. Kreider & Zibanejad have been quoted alot in the papers lately but their play needs to start doing the talking.
Keep giving the Kids Line shifts and opportunities.
Keep composure when the going gets tough on the road--this is vital.
This would be two weeks ahead of schedule, seems like a desperation move. Goalies rely on their feet a lot - CHP probably can tell us how much, but it's a lot IMO.
It's not definite, but Mercogliano is saying all signs are pointing to Crosby being out tonight.
Might be a case of hedging their bets, hoping he can play in a potential game 7.
I know the morning skate is a big deal and it usually means whether a person plays or not, but let's say the Pens, wanted to throw the Rangers a head fake, does Crosby really need to participate in a morning skate to play tonight? I just feel like I want rest easy until I see him scratched

Appreciate the call out, pj. And absolutely correct. Yes, hand/eye coordination is paramount with glove, blocker, stick. But more than ever I think you're seeing angle and positioning set the frame, limit the looks. Have to push off hard on the skate/post from which you're moving away to the opposite side. When Georgiev is at his worst, he is dead slow pushing from L to R or R to L posts to cover corners on plays behind the net or combination plays across the slot.
To my eye, a negative I've noted in Igor's play as the series has worn on is that he has been late to cross his crease to cover net and post targets on the opposite post. Part of it is alertness/reaction time and that slows you down; the part is the force of the push. He improved in that as Game 5 went along, again, imo only. I am sure Benoît has been at him. And for Igor this aspect is that much more imp because of small stature. Whether Carter (and I still don't see that collision your way, pj) or the ~78 shot barrage in Game 1, he's been off. Hope he blocks out the mocking cheers of the Pens' crowd.

I'm not saying Igor didn't get injured in the collision with Carter, I'm saying it looked to me like at worst Igor initiated the contact, at best it was incidental, definitely not malicious or intentional by Carter (who as I referenced is closer to a Lady Byng nominee than a Marchand).
If that's what you disagree with, ok, lol, we can agree to disagree.

I'm not a goalie but I've noticed Igor looks a little slower going side to side and that his chest is leaning forward a little more than usual. He looks a little tired at times.
I'd agree re. Igor, but way I saw it was that Carter had him lined up, eyes front: not lined up for a full body slam, because that would be risky at many levels; yet lined up enough for a glancing hit, which was enough to upend Igor.
I hope they do but I doubt it. Like PJ said they're not that kind of team. If they go that route it would really play into the Rangers hands. Take them out of their game, lose their focus and probably give us some power plays.
goonery that might make sense for Pitt would be a Freidman or another 4th liner for Trouba. Trouba just has to be smart enough to not take any bait. All the other guy's with some edge like Malkin and Zucker are too important to Pitt's lineup with Crosby out.

Sidney Crosby is NOT on the ice for the Penguins' morning skate.
Brian Dumoulin isn't, either.
Everybody else is accounted for, including all three goalies and Radim Zohorna.

Crosby not being on the ice for practice is massive. If he's out, that changes everything.
Might be a case of hedging their bets, hoping he can play in a potential game 7.
3-1 Rangers.
I read on twitter Dominuge was in the starter's net" but that Jarry could be the backup. But, these are just beat writers guessing.

Yep, confirmed. Domingue in net for the Yinz tonight.

Coach Sullivan on Sidney Crosby's status: "He skated this morning with Ty Hennes. He will not play tonight."
I wouldn't have gone to the Brett well again - but without Crosby I don't think the negative energy Brett brings will be enough to counter the fact the Pens are a lesser opponent.
Suck it, pj. I'm a winner.
I guess the real decision comes down to how Lindgren is feeling.
They can't get caught with 5D.

Love to see 'em try.

the Pens try to goon it up tonight?

Ah you're probably right. Maybe Friedman, Gino and Boyle? Although Boyle is older now.
He has a concussion (though he did skate this morning), so that seems unlikely.

Most people probably know this but it's not like it's just a Mike Sullivan or Sidney Crosby decision at this point.
but Trouba will crush them and get a 5min rest.
I don't expect much else.
Malkin isn't a goon, he's just big and lazy IMO and his laziness leads to penalties sometimes.
Quote:
I wouldn't put it past that prick Crosby to pull a Mario and play tonight.

thanks. I didn't realize he was in the concussion protocol, or whatever the NHL calls it
