Favors Corbin....his highlights show some promise.
Agreed. The fact that he’s known as a solid between the tackles runner is important in my opinion. The RB group at the moment is loaded with outside runners like Barkley and Breida. No matter how high octane and spread based our offense is you still need a back that can get that short yardage and grind the clock.
While Gettleman may have left the glass mostly empty…
… one positive aspect of having a dreadful roster and no cap space is the fun of watching UDFAs vie for a roster spot with a realistic chance of making it. The door is open for Corbin, Corker, Allen and others. If they don’t seize the opportunity, the waiver-wire revolving door will bring fresh candidates with their own underdog stories.
Nice to see Corbin on board. He has as good a chance as any of the group. Fox has a steeper climb, but it’s not as though we’re loaded at EDGE either.

BBB, or anyone, did you see his games at all during the season?
For the past two seasons. I never miss an FSU game, no matter how miserable. What to you want to know?
Is he thick and strong in his butt and thighs, hard to bring down?
My sense is that his running style is not the elusive type.
Can he drive a pile?
If he's a between the tackles runner, is he quick to take advantage of creases and slither through, i.e., the anti-Gold Jacket Generational Guy, who does not seem to have a feel for traffic. In other words, is his vision good, in your opinion?

how would you rate him up vs. devonte freeman or akers?
Cam Akers was a 5-star coming out of Mississippi to FSU at the height of Jimbo's recruiting. Corbin doesn't have near the raw talent of Akers. Don't get me wrong, he's not bad, but Cam was a freak and produced with zero help and shitty coaching.
Freeman is a better comp talent wise, but they are very different backs. Freeman, despite being smaller was more of a power runner in his style. Freeman ran full throttle and hit the hole at full speed with a better body lean. Of course, he also ran behind a FAR better offensive line. Corbin is more of a patient runner who will explode into his one-cut, but can also make a guy miss type back. Corbin is also a gifted receiver when given the chance. Also, Corbin has more wiggle than Gallman , which is a comp I've been seeing here.
Corbin is strong and has good playing balance, regularly shedding tacklers and among the country's leaders in yards after contact. However, he does tend to run a bit upright and that's a concern, of course. His best quality as far as tough running is his persistence and determination. The kid never quit on a run, at least that I can recall. Go look at his TD run against NCST.
Excellent vision and patience. He is decisive when he hits the hole, but he's not explosive. My hope is that perhaps that may appear as he moves even further from his injury.
that I contradicted myself. In the first use of explode, I more meant that when he makes his read, he's decisive in moving to a higher gear. Apologies for any confusion. He does lack top end speed, FYI
thanks, sounds like a more productive option between the tackles than either SB or WG or the Freeman vintage we had.
It also sounds like if he makes the team and comes into the game, where game situation doesn't necessarily dictate a run, Daboll will want options wide (KT/Robinson) so the d cannot be safe playing 8 in the box to scheme vs run. So his pass catching ability a plus there.

Yeah, I mean the NFL is way different than college so it's hard to say if his traits translate, but I do expect fewer runs directly into the pile than what Gallman gave.
The announcement this morning likely means they just had and passed their physicals.

Or, in recognition of his sub-par 40 time:
Corbin on draft day - ( New Window )

I thought Fox's highlight reels were outstanding.
I know he can run. Didn't catch many passes in the videos I watched. Is he a will pass blocker?
