Giantimistic : 5/14/2022 8:30 pm
Thinking about getting a water flosser. Anyone have experience using one? Are they worth it?

Recommendations?

from between teeth. However, they do not remove plaque, which is by far the bigger problem. Nor do they claim to, last I looked. They are a good adjunct to floss, but they don't replace it. I use both. And for the record, I'm a retired dentist.

If you want to take good care of your teeth, it's not a matter of what you like, it's a matter of what works.

Good to know. The waterpik brand says it is ADA approved and removes plaque. I wonder if that is a new advancement.

A quick internet review shows that while a waterpik will remove the top layers of plaque, it does not effectively remove the base layer of plaque that is adherent to the teeth. It's better than just brushing, but not as good as flossing, which physically scrapes the plaque off the tooth. surface. The ADA, which has the integrity of the FDA, can be pretty liberal with their acceptances if it's worth their while

Be true to your teeth and they won't be false to you.
Forgive me, I don't know what came over me

Is spot on. Good adjunct to flossing, not a good replacement to flossing.

Practicing dentist here
Frankly - a flossing tool is cheaper and better
