Thanks. Right now we’re looking for rentals. 3 months, 6 months, month to month, yearly. Haven’t decided which at this point, but ultimately we want to live there full time..Any info, I’m at 1956giants@gmail.com..
St. John question:
bluefin : 5/15/2022 11:00 pm : link
We would like to visit the island, but wife has a severe immune response reaction to bites of “no-see-ums” midge flies, and some travel forums that I’ve seen have mentioned that these insects can be problematic on St. John.
Are no-see-ums midges an island-wide problem, or only in certain areas? Are they perhaps seasonal?
TIA

I would not say they are a "problem" but they are here. They are primarily on the beaches and do most of their "damage" late afternoon and morning. Shady areas. Usually not a problem in the mid-day when the sun is hot. The key is to use bug spray on your feet and ankles when you are out and about. Obviously not an issue when you are in the water!

Thanks! So far we haven’t found a repellent that works adequately, but we’ll keep trying.

Some people put oil on their skin. It does not repel but the little buggies can't bite through it. Try looking that up.
