Been reading up on the benefits cinnamon after having some success taking tumeric as an anti inflammatory
Thank you to the BBI’ers who suggested tumeric…it has absolutely helped. I mentioned that I’m taking it to my orthopedist…and he completely agreed on its benefits.
Cinnamon anyone?

This is true. Also, there are two types of cinnamon. Some say that Ceylon cinnamon is better than the more common Cassia cinnamon.

This
With the pepper…I’m told that’s the key for proper absorption. I take two a day…553 mgs each
You can find it on Amazon
Been reading about the two different types of cinnamon…
Thanks.
Someone brought up turmeric as an alternative. Apparently it needs to be combined with pepper…so it was kinda hard to find that in your typical drug store. Also was told that it takes a few weeks for you to feel it helping ( which it did). While it did not ‘fix’ the pain in my shoulders…I did notice a marked difference. My hands and elbows didn’t hurt as badly as well.
A lot of people I know love the CBD stuff…but with the type of work I do…a positive drug test would be disastrous. I have read all about the pros and cons/ can’t test positive for THC with CBD products…but it’s just not worth it to me
The brand I use I mentioned above…it’s not cheap but I know I can always get it on Amazon
I was so sick of living in pain I was ready to try anything…well almost anything
I won’t do pain pills…they just make me dumb(er)
Lot of the cheaper supplements don't show this part of Turmeric. Some use the spice in foods but from what I understand would need a tremendous amount of it for benefits.
Thanks.
Free advice..... start the process of scheduling surgery ASAP. We have waited 5 months from the initial ortho visit to the actual surgery next month. COVID has caused a backlog for elective procedures. Pain has really ramped up in the interim.
If cortisone shots are presented as a treatment option, understand that you must wait 3 months after the shots before any surgery. YMMV good luck
Thanks.
Get the hip replacement. I did a resurfacing that lasted 12 yrs and a revision that feels better than the resurfacing. Recovery is pretty straightforward. First week a bit tough but nothing horrible. Just sleep in a recliner and close to bathroom downstairs week 1

I have been putting off a hip replacement for 5 years (I’m 50) for various reasons and on the mild/moderate/severe index it’s firmly in severe. I know I need to get it at some point soon, but looking for things to reduce inflammation as I can’t take Advil.
Thanks.

Thanks. I am planning on starting the process soon and realize there could be a backlog. I can use the time to get in better shape for the recovery.
Me too. I take Turmeric as a separate supplement but I use cinnamon in my coffee every morning.
It doesnt stop my back pain which flares up randomly but the every day aches are gone.
I tried adding Cinamon but I had trouble with heartburn taking it.
I am fond of Fine Vine supplements.

There are also varieties and different origins of cassia and of cinnamon. Vietnamese cinnamon may not be the same as Ceylon cinnamon for medicinal purposes.
That may be why there are conflicting studies about the effectiveness of cinnamon for lowering blood glucose. If you just buy something at the grocery store called "cinnamon" you may not get the same thing each time, and any two brands may have entirely different sourcing.

One of the tricky things about doing cinnamon supplementation is that there are indeed two types of "cinnamon." Most "cinnamon" sold in the U.S. is cassia, which has a stronger flavor than true cinnamon. People who are used to cassia often prefer it. But for supplementation purposes, they don't necessarily have the same composition or benefits.

I use CinSulin from Costco. ( water extracted cinnamon bark extract 10:1
Has vitamin D and chromium in it too
That’s why this place is so great…
It’s really more than just going into a store and buying something labeled Cinnamon, turmeric, or magnesium
Works every time.
Matt M…Did you take it in a pill form? The ones I take are the compressed type…not a capsule filled with powder. How long did you take it before that happened?
