Visit cousins in NH each summer & would cruise down one day each summer for a day. I remember walking down some path on campus & Fassel exiting some building. I said 'Hey Coach' & he said hello to me & shook my hand. That was pretty cool. He also was tall AF.
But I sure miss reading about it! Smarty in Albany was always a great read, every report!
At least from this side of a keyboard, the whole experience just had a lot more soul than the Swamp. If far less convenient, also far less sucking in of exhaust from bumper
to bumper traffic on Routes 3 and 17 and watching PCB's leaching out of the Berry's Creek Canal.
It's a beautiful trophy and Seubert was a worthy recipient
I see hope is there with tiki. Going through those photos was a nice memory. Very cool stuff and it makes you really understand the importance of bbi and how it’s undoubtedly recognized by the organization. Great job Eric!

Yes, that was the first year. And the trophy story for that year was funny. I don't know who had the idea to create and/or give out the trophy, but someone had it made and gave it to Hope to take to Albany. It was small and humble, but the kicker was that it was mismounted on a terrible plastic base. I said, "We can't give this to Tiki, let me get it fixed." I took it to a shop in the Crystal City Underground outside DC where I worked and they created a new base and face plate for it. It was a million times better, but still not much more than what a little leaguer gets as a participation trophy. Tike was genuinely pleased, however, and he and Hope remained pretty good friends. TTB in Roanoke is also friends with Tiki.
