TOUCHDOWNS

*Opposite of Monday, the Giants conducted most of their team reps outside of the red zone and worked on the intermediate game near midfield. However, they did take a few snaps from close range, and two former Bills connected for a score when Tyrod Taylor found running back Matt Breida in the end zone.

"Every year I've got something to prove," Breida said when he signed with the Giants this offseason. "I came into this league undrafted. I guarantee a lot of people didn't think I would be on year six right now, so I'm going to keep going for as long as I'm able to play and allowed to play. I'm blessed every day to play this game. I'm just very fortunate."

TAKEAWAYS

*Rookie Kayvon Thibodeaux generated the play of the day. The fifth overall draft pick tipped a pass straight up in the air, and safety Xavier McKinney came down with the interception. McKinney, who was tied for the NFL lead among safeties with five interceptions last season, ran the ball down the right sideline. Thibodeaux was asked last week at rookie minicamp about defensive coordinator Wink Martindale turning him loose.

"It's all about creating trust," Thibodeaux said. "Once he trusts in me that I know the playbook, and that I'm going to be available every Sunday, that I can live up to those expectations, then I feel he'll be able to cut whoever loose as long as they have that consistency and trust."

OTHER TOP PLAYS

*Wide receiver David Sills racked up the catches, including the offensive play of the day on a deep reception from Taylor. Sills, who started his career as an undrafted rookie in Buffalo in 2019, is embarking on his fourth season with the Giants. He made his regular-season debut last season, starting one of four games he played.

*Rookie wide receiver Wan'Dale Robinson, a second-round draft choice out of Kentucky, was used early and often, catching multiple passes from Daniel Jones on Tuesday.

"Just my quickness and my versatility," Robinson said at rookie minicamp about his strengths. "You never really know where I'm going to line up. Just being able to do a lot of different things, a lot of different things with the offense is what I try to do."

*Cornerback Adoree' Jackson made plays all over the field today and broke up a handful of passes.

*Rookie linebacker Darrian Beavers, a sixth-round draft choice out of Cincinnati, also got a hand on a pass.

*Safety Yusuf Corker forced another incompletion after the undrafted rookie out of Kentucky intercepted a pass in his first OTA practice.

*Cornerback Darnay Holmes prevented a touchdown and broke up a pass in the end zone.

It’s perfectly right to worry deeply about players based on OTAs in May.

At least that's actually talking about football.

This hall monitor/taking attendance stuff is the absolute worst. Let the people running the football program do their jobs. People more worried about taking attendance and cutting guys like they're Truant officers.
There are multiple photos of the punter

The punter!

But not one photo of Toney.

It can’t be a coincidence

This is all I’m saying. If we’re going to trust the new regime, then trust the new regime until they give you actual reasons not to.

I disagree. It's not about trusting the new regime. There isn't anything they can do about a player not showing up for voluntary activities, and blasting him in the media would be ridiculously counter-productive. So, they put on the best face they can in this situation.

It's about a player's commitment to his team and his craft. It's about showing up even when you don't have to, because that's what serves the team best.

BINGO

Especially for a player like Toney. His actions last year around the cleats, injuries, punching an opponent, and his known desire to have a music career are all self-inflicted wounds by Toney.

He has put the microscope on himself and until he shows the coaching staff and fans otherwise, we have every right to think he is not part of the long term solution here
Toney

playing Daboll and Shoen like two drums like he did Judge all last year and broke his brain. Golladay probably looks on how the dysfunvtional clueless org handles him and figures why he has to show up at "voluntary" training.

Schoen should have traded Toney for a bag of donuts while he had the chance, instead he held out for the boston creme and set this franchise back further.

This is unlikely to win the smartest comment of the day award.
top award for "twerp" of the day

lets ignore the positive remarks Daboll said about Toney "several days" this past week. Don't let facts get in the way of a bullcrap narrative.

Truant officer, huh?

The two guys who didn't show up last year, didn't score a single TD in 2021, might not be consistently showing up for a brand-new coaching staff... and that is not worthy of notice?

OK.

mind you, one guy was paid $72 million, and the other guy was the 1st-round pick.

Yeah, it sucks but I don't blame Schoen and Daboll. They didn't pick/sign these guys, and as noted OTAs are voluntary and you don't help the situation by creating controversy. It is what it is, for now.

i blame judge for both. his guy came over from detroit and presumably vouched for golladay, his guy pruitt apparently vouched for toney. hopefully daboll/schoen can find a way to pump and dump.

Wow. What a monumentally stupid post. There is nothing, I repeat, nothing that Schoen and Daboll can do about a player not showing up for voluntary activities. The only drum Toney is playing is his own, and it's quite possibly the back beat of a requiem on his future as a Giant. Marching to the beat of his own drum will probably not secure a place for him in the team's long-term plans.

I doubt there was any serious consideration about trading him, and certainly not for a "bag of donuts." He is talented, and while he's here I expect the Giants to take advantage of those talents. I also expect that they won't put up with him any more than they have to. For the time being, he's a Giant. How long he stays a Giant remains to be seen.
I agree, Schoen seems like a no nonsense guy to me

Lots of guys didn't show up last year to make 0 touchdowns happen. This didn't occur simply because guy making 72 million didn't care hard enough.

Notice it all you want. Calling for heads over it is a different story. None of these players are here long term anyway.
