2.5...over/under on Mahomes Super Bowl championships...

SFGFNCGiantsFan : 5/17/2022 6:55 pm
You going over or under? I was shooting the shit @ work with a pal-big KC fan-& we both initially said over, but thinking more on it...that means he wins 2 more titles. Yes, he's very young & obviously uber talented, but I look at Rodgers & Brees...two contemporaries of him who only have won 1 Lombardi. He's also playing in a staked conference w/ Burrow, Herbert, Watson, Jackson, & now Wilson.

I probably still lean over, but I wouldn't put any cheddar down on it.

Undah.

Even with a great qb, a suit ton has to go right especially once the qb is off the rookie deal.

I think he'll win another SB. I do. But its hard to keep a great team together in today's NFL.

What Brady accomplished was remarkable.

Andy Reid is 64 and his health can't be great. You never know when he might decide to pack it in. Mahomes is great but will the team around him continue to be up to snuff once Reid is gone? And of course even with Reid they have come up a bit the last couple of years. Really shouldn't have lost that one to Cincy.

I really wish we could move away from judging QBs from the number of rings they have. It's a team game. What more could Josh Allen possibly have done in that game against KC?
Fat Andy is good at getting a lot.....

of wins, but he's sure got a penchant for screwin the pooch at the most inopportune of times.
I take the under.

I'd say under,
Go Terps : 5/17/2022 7:08 pm : link
but I also wouldn't predict any other QB to win more titles than him over the remainder of his career. I'd also think he's the most likely to approach all of Brady's passing records and win the most games as a starter going forward. Great player in a smart organization.
Good news is Mahomes is only 26...

The bad news is the AFC is loaded with great young QBs - Allen, Herbert, LJax and Burrow.

There is also Russell Wilson. And if Watson captures his old form, then he's in the mix.

Imagine, if Zach Wilson, Trevor Lawrence and even Mac Jones work out...

Oh, the AFCW is loaded.

I think it's going to be tough to even get to one more, let alone win it or two more.

Is there a Luke Jackson no one knows about? Haha. Cause surely you don’t mean Lamar. Dude was average at best last year, has regressed every year since his MVP, coming off a pretty bad injury, and still can’t throw.

Ravens would be smart to let him walk instead of killing their cap space.

I was thinking exactly the same thing. Reid couldn’t win big gasmes with the Eagles and he hasn’t improved. He just got lucky once. Can he get lucky twice more?
Of all the QBs in the NFL,
section125 : 5/17/2022 7:43 pm : link
Mahomes seems to be the best situated for multiple SBs. Will have to see what Allen, Herbert and Burrow do. Allen would seem to be in the next best position.

Might take the under, though.
Brady has broken the standard

In the salary cap era, it’s so hard to maintain success.

The Chiefs have had a 4 year run as the most consistently good team in football and have “only” won it all once. Aaron Rodgers and Brett Favre combined for how many playoff appearances and MVPs to only win 2 in total?

The answer is clearly the under. Can Mahomes catch magic in a bottle and win 3+? Definitely within the realm of possibility but the odds are against him.
One thing about Mahomes
GNewGiants : 5/17/2022 8:05 pm : link
Is it seems like he is getting nicked up more and more each year. And without the cheetah, he may try to improvise more and it may lead to more hits.

But Mahomes is so good. But like bw said, the AFC is just loaded with great QBs sans Lamar - haha
Over

I think he'll get three before he retires in 14 years
Teams that pay 40-50 million.....to QBs

Makes keeping the talent on the roster to win championships very difficult
He definitely has a tougher road to over than Brady ever did
Rudy5757 : 5/18/2022 8:08 am : link
Bradys division rivals were the worst in football. The AFC west is loaded with young QBs and the AFC overall has the better QB crop. I think teams have figured out Mahomes a bit and he'll be lucky to win 1 more let alone 2.

I do enjoy watching him and cant wait for the Giants to incorporate some of that O into our system. I think the huge contract will be the ultimate downfall for the Chiefs. Having less talent and competing hard to get every win will take its toll. 1 more Superbowl not 2.

The AFC is loaded and is getting better. I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't win another.
The contract
JB_in_DC : 5/18/2022 9:22 am : link
won't look that bad in a few years with climbing cap. Of course at that point he might just negotiate a new one.

Could see it either way, but having that good young o line in place... give me the over.
Good discussion

That is a well set line.

I'll give you that LJax slipped last year. He was definitely forcing it before he got hurt.

And it is an interesting point that Baltimore should consider letting him walk. I get the idea because LJax has not been able to get his regular season performance to convey to the playoffs and there is a high-risk factor to his game.

But he's done more than enough in his short career to justify calling him one of the best players in the NFL. LJax is a football player playing QB and he is one of the two best two-way QBs (with Allen) in the NFL.

Say he plays another 12 years. Winning 2 Super Bowls in 12 years is not an easy thing to do, and there are so many factors in winning a Super Bowl that go beyond the QB position. Herbert, Allen, Burrow being in his conference make it unlikely that he'll even play in 2 more Super Bowls, and like an earlier poster said, what if young guys like Wilson or Mac Jones figure it out and start playing at an elite level. My guess is he will win another one.
Mahomes is very good
NINEster : 5/19/2022 1:38 pm : link
but he's definitely had a top 5 support system his entire career.

With Tyreek Hill gone, he'll need to develop into a better QB to achieve the same level of success.

Against the very best of defenses, I feel that he's had to rely too much on his physical skillset to make things happen.

The other big names seemingly do it to an extent too, but Mahomes IMO did it more than others. So while it's very exciting to watch when it works, when it doesn't, it looks pretty bad.

Best thing going for him is his popularity with the league and fans. Will help him get favorable calls when needed.

We'll see what happens.
