But otherwise, you can get lucky with a service rep or someone coming out to do an initial install. I feel like if they see you're serious and know what you're talking about, they are more likely to let you use your own router, especially if you have a network or racked homelab in your house. I know plenty of people who have 'gotten lucky' with this.
Was as easy as connecting the router with a Ethernet cable into the Ethernet port of the FIOS ONT/Fiber Modem. No different than cable internet.
What router and did you lose any features???
I'm using an UniFi Dream Machine. But If you only have FIOS internet, any newer router will work just fine with no loss of functionality.
Now... you have FIOS Internet + TV it's a bit more involved. You can still use your own router and internet will work fine...but you would need what's called a MoCA 2.5 coaxial adapter in order for your set top boxes to communicate properly for on screen guide, DVR, etc to work. The MoCA adapter basically provides Internet over coax cable.
