The #Giants signed former Ravens corner Khalil Dorsey, per his agency @VMGSports.

Played six games for the Ravens in 2020.

Add another former Ravens cornerback, Khalil Dorsey. Dorsey appeared in six games (mostly on special teams) as an undrafted rookie in 2020 and then missed last season with an injury

LOL. I am actually hoping this kid doesnt make the roster which would be a sign that our CBs are better tan we think.
FYI
Eric from BBI : Admin : 5/18/2022 8:51 am : link
Dorsey has played ONE snap on defense in his NFL career.

Strike that, according to Pro Football Reference, 5 snaps.

could have also have tendered him as an exclusive rights free agent, but chose not to do so.
These
AcidTest : 5/18/2022 8:56 am : link
are two street FAs that nobody, including the Giants, wanted until now. They are obviously worried about the #2 CB position, at least in terms of depth behind Robinson. That is really an indictment of the previous regime given all the draft and FA resources it spent on CBs.
Schoen is aware that they need depth
Dave on the UWS : 5/18/2022 9:02 am : link
at CB, both in quality and quantity. its a work in progress
So do they make a late deal with Jimmy Smith?
Ben in Tampa : 5/18/2022 9:11 am : link
He may be cooked as a player after 10+ years, but it seems like we are working our way up the former Ravens depth chart

For camp
Also a system guy to help communicate what Wink may want

.

Nothing wrong with it.

If we gotta scrape a few barrels those are some decent ones.
well he's fast - as a track guy he ran a 10.59 100m
Eric on Li : 5/18/2022 9:48 am : link
also ran hurdles, the 200m, 300m, and long jump.

seems like he'll be a back roster/practice squad type. he was in the final cuts for the ravens as a UDFA in 2020 and then went on injured reserve during camp last year.

he's basically a UDFA+. they just got a look at all their UDFAs from this year this guy is likely on that same level talent-wise except he's been through 1.5 training camps with Wink.

All joking aside, this is exactly what it is. These guys haven't been brought in to play on Sunday, they were brought in to help "coach" and be one less person screwing up assignments during practices.
not sure a UDFA from 2020 is being brought in as a coach on the field
Eric on Li : 5/18/2022 1:18 pm : link
familiarity in the system is a leg up for him over any other marginal NFL talents still available at a low cost but i highly doubt they expect him to mentor anyone else when he's never himself even made a 53.

I'm talking about training camp, not making the team. His knowledge of the system can be shared when there's pre- and post-snap confusion during practices and whenever teammates have questions. The more people in the locker room and on the practice field with a knowledge of the system the better. They don't have to stick in order for them to be useful for training camp when there are always gonna be guys at the very bottom of the 90-man roster who are just practice bodies.
got it
Eric on Li : 5/18/2022 10:01 pm : link
in reading up on him it looks like he was actually reasonably well thought of in BAL. In both his training camps he was on the bubble despite a deep CB room. Without any additional moves I'd probably bet he and Canady make the 53.
