Kafka—-“I’m really enjoying working with Daniel”
uh oh. Some people aren't going to like that!
Why? Do you think there are posters who believed Daboll's first comments about working with Jones would be "Man, that guy is really an a**hole!"
You know nobody on this site actively hates Daniel Jones, right?
@GiantInsider
So far in the OTAs Jerren Williams has been working with the safeties.

Blake Martinez is in a red injury jersey today so no real reps for him yet but he was on field for some walk-thru snaps.
No limp, moving well. Thinking more and more that he is ready for Day One of camp.
wow that would be quite a positive surprise. gates back healthy as 6th OL would be real depth. he may even push feliciano to his natural spot at LG.

to me so far is the video of Nick Gates.

That would be unbelievable. I still find it extremely unlikely that he is ready by camp. It is one thing to walk normal and another to be where he left off prior to the injury. Strenth, flexibly, swelling, trust, etc. will all be huge obstacles to overcome. I wish him the best. I loved him at C.

@PLeonardNYDN
Most encouraging thing to me today so far is how Blake Martinez is moving. He’s wearing a red jersey & it’s just jog thru speed. But he’s participating in full coming off the ACL.
Some in red are participating. Some, like Toney (?), Shepard (Achilles) and Golladay (?), aren’t.
No limp, moving well. Thinking more and more that he is ready for Day One of camp.
Is it really possible that he will be ready week one? Just the fact that he is out there is great news.

#Giants first OL group in team drills:
LT Andrew Thomas
LG Shane Lemieux
C Jon Feliciano
RG Mark Glowinski
RT Evan Neal
although maybe not for Matt Peart's career prospects, PUP was probably the safest way for him to keep a roster spot.

That video was great to see. I can't believe that he doesn't have on a boot or any brace. If he's fully cleared, still a big if, then I do not see how he doesn't return to the starting lineup at center. Feliciano would then be excellent depth inside.
@GiantInsider
Don’t worry lol Azeez with 1s In team drill.

Shane Lemieux with 1s, Korey Cunningham at LT for Thomas.
A starting front of Thibodeux - Williams - Ellis - Lawrence - Ward should be pretty hard to run against (especially if Martinez is all the way back).
Not really an obvious first DL off the bench after those 3 and that would be a spot a veteran could be added given how much Wink has rotated DL in his past.

Yea I still hope that Peart begins on the PUP list or IR so that they can stash him away. The backup spots are too crowded right now. For arguments sake let's say that the OL stays the same as it is in practice today as I expect it to:
LT Andrew Thomas
LG Shane Lemieux
C Jon Feliciano
RG Mark Glowinski
RT Evan Neal
That leaves 4 spots for Josh Ezeudu, Matt Gono, Ben Bredeson, Max Garcia, Marcus McKethan, Jamil Douglas, and Korey Cunningham. If Gates is fully cleared then that is very bad news for Bredeson, Garcia, Douglas, and Cunningham.

and all were moving around pretty freely. with 2 months until camp even opens that's highly encouraging.

McKethan likely goes to PS or IR stash. Cunningham they can try to get to PS also.
I could see them keeping 10 OL active but that would have 6 guys competing for 5 spots Gates, Ezeudu, Gono, Bredeson, Garcia, Douglas. 7 if Peart is healthy. maybe they can sneak one of them to PS also.
nice to have real depth for a change.

Update: Tyrod Taylor just threw an incredibly well placed sideline go-route to Robert Foster. Apologies to Davis for my premature award-giving. #giants

Not really an obvious first DL off the bench after those 3 and that would be a spot a veteran could be added given how much Wink has rotated DL in his past.
I am still hoping that Ward plays DE in 3-4 packages to allow Lawrence to play more NT. Ideally Lawrence will rotate with Ellis at NT and play a few snaps at DE depending on the packages.

it wouldn't surprise me if Ojulari is deployed as more of a traditional pass rusher than every down player.

I think when Ojulari comes in it's likely Ward kicks down and Lawrence does move inside. The most Wink played any DL in baltimore was Calais 56% of snaps. Everyone else was under 50%. Leonard Williams played 76% last year and Lawrence 65%, so i do think we are going to see a lot of differences in how they are used which will hopefully make them more effective when on the field.

Replying to @ZackBlatt
Andrew Thomas actually wasn’t in team drills. Korey Cunningham was filling in at LT.
But Thomas, obviously, is the first team LT.

The DL depth concerns me. I think that they are okay at NT but the DE depth is a different story and that is assuming Ward primarily plays DE. Let's hope that Williams stays healthy all year and one of Hinton, Holmes, Jabari Ellis surprise to provide a solid rotational piece.

1st Team OL:
Neal, Glowinski, Feliciano, Lemieux, Cunningham
2nd team OL:
Gono, McKethan, Bredeson, Hamilton, Ezeudu
Bredeson at center is interesting #Giants
Very interesting for a few reasons. Obviously Bredeson at center is the main reason and I am happy to see him showing versatility. Hopefully he is another player that proves a move to center is best for his career. The other interesting moves are McKethan at LG, Ezeudu at RT and not LG, plus Hamilton an OT at RG.
It's important to keep in mind that these could just be temporary moves to evaluate the versatility of these players and not a sign of a permanent move.

@DDuggan21
Kayvon Thibodeaux left a team period late in practice. A trainer checked his quad/groin/hip area. He remained on the sideline so doesn’t appear to be anything serious.
Still a wild 2nd line.
As of today Jamil Douglas is likely destined to the PS along with MBaeteka, and possibly Rivas.

No, Ryan got those backwards... right to left.
Still a wild 2nd line.
Wow even more interesting with Ezeudu playing LT.
No, Ryan got those backwards... right to left.
I should have picked up on that with Glowinski but I was too distracted by the second line.
Yes and no.
Often times, the alignments don't change all that much. The pecking order is also useful.
It's way too early to read too much into this but I have predicted that Lemieux will be the starting LG at least at the beginning of the year so Ezeudu will likely be the primary backup G and perhaps swing tackle. If so then that is even worse new for Peart as he will have to compete with Gono for one spot. Gono can also play guard so he has that advantage over Peart.
What a dramatic fall for Peart. This time last year I was excited to see him in camp as I expected him to easily win the RT job from Solder. A year later he might lose a roster spot to Matt Gono. Yikes.
For example, in both media access practices to date, Lemieux has been the starter.

Usually but there are exceptions. Remember back a couple of years ago when we thought that the Giants had no center then Gates stepped in with the starting unit after the draft. There were little to no indication that this was the plan and he ended up sticking there.
Unfortunately I do. The fact that they stuck with Solder all year was alarming. Peart won't fail because of a lack of size or talent. If he fails it will be due to a lack of effort and desire.

OLB Kayvon Thibodeaux and RT Evan Neal worked at OTAs with the first team. Throwing them right into mix.
Thibodeaux would’ve had sack on one play in live drills. Pulled himself out later when he twisted to the ground. Appeared fine.
Neal more than held his own at RT. #giants
