NFT: COVID first timer

Anyone get COVID during this latest wave? I managed to avoid getting it for the past 2 years - then Tuesday, I started feeling a scratchy throat. Tested positive yesterday morning and had to report my case to work, and start masking inside and generally avoiding my wife and kids.

I've just felt beat down for the past 24 hours. 'Worked from home' yesterday then slept from 7 p.m. to 8 a.m. in the guest room... Today I'm still worn down with a slight headache. I'm grateful it just feels like the flu at this point - I know it could be a lot worse. But not looking forward to quarantining throughout the weekend when it looks like we may have a great weekend weather-wise (again, I know I'm a lucky one).

Most stories I hear these days are that the worst lasts around 2-3 days... Anyone here get it recently and have that experience? Tips on speeding up the recovery process, dealing with the brain fog?
Had it beginning of April

After my son brought it home from daycare. Ran through our whole house. Baby had minimal symptoms and was back to normal after 2 days. Wife had cough for about a week. I had severe nasal congestion for about 10 days and lost taste and smell for 48 hours. Generally felt tired but thankfully nothing beyond that.

Drank a ton of fluids and warm tea and generally took it easy.

Good luck, I hope you and your family are alright and it passes quickly.
just got it for the first time at the end of a trip to the bahamas...

went to before returning to the US and was positive. At the time i only had what felt like allergies. The 2-3 day thing sounds about right. I had about 36 hours where i felt like crap, but really just like a really bad cold. After that i started to feel ok but have had congestion/cough hanging around for about a week now. Really wasnt too bad (im vaxed/boosted) other then having to quarantine in a hotel room in the bahamas for like 5 days until we tested negative and could come back home, ha.
Get well soon.

Been lucky I guess. I worked through everything the last 2-3 years - nothing.

The only inconvenience for me was the masks - but, even those restrictions are starting to ease a lot out here (CA).

You will be alright.

If you're feeling up to it

grab a lounge chair and "quarantine" in the yard this weekend. The heat will be good for you.

Wish you the best.
I just got it for the first time two weeks ago

after not getting it for the duration of the pandemic so far. My wife and two younger sons (11 and 7) both got it. I had one night of chills and a scratch throat and was basically fine after that. My older son and wife had cold/flu symptoms (cough, runny nose, slight fever) that lasted for probably 3 to 4 days. My youngest son had no symptoms.

To me the crazies thing is that I am still testing positive, although it is not a very faint line, 10 days after I stopped having symptoms. Just curious when everyone starts testing negative.
i feel like everyone i talk to

either has it right now, had it in the last few weeks, or is sick and "its just a cold" or "its just allergies" and hasn't got tested.
Got it in January

wife just got over it earlier this week. Both of us had similar symptoms - no fever but really tired and couldn't focus, along with a lingering headache.

After about a week we were good but I had brain fog for a bit which was annoying. Simple tasks were difficult to comprehend. I'd say all symptoms for me were gone definitely after 2 weeks, likely 10 days or so.
At some point we have to start treating this like other viruses.

The fact it's a bad cold or flu-like symptoms and still be treated differently is absurd. Sorry you're feeling shitty.
With each wave the effects get less and less, which is good

Now its a bad cold or flu for most people. Hell, most people get this and barely know it. I guess this is the way one of these things dies.
