NFT: Gardeners, any experience with leaf miners on tomato plants?

FranknWeezer : 5/20/2022 9:48 am
Neighbors gave us a seedling tomato plant. Been growing it in a pot for a few weeks, and it's nice and full. No tomatoes yet, but in the past week+, there have been showing up visible tracks/veins in most of the leaves. My internet research leads to a diagnosis of leaf miner flies. Pic below is representative of exactly what's going on with mine:

When I google leaf miner pesticides, there are dozens that show up (i.e. "kills over 130 types of vegetable pests"), but so far, nothing specific to leaf miners.

Any advice for what to use?

Also, FWIW, the pot is in a full-sun, east-facing part of the yard with a brick wall behind it, a juniper on one side of it and a boxwood on the other (both are planted in the ground, and there was a wide space between them, so that's where I set the tomato pot). Hopefully the proximity to those two hasn't lead to the leaf miner issue, but I chose this spot in part to keep it away from our dogs in our back yard.

BTW, so far, there have been yellow blooms but no tomatoes to date.

Thanks for any intel/advice.
