The Saquon Barkley Dilemna, as I see it.

Klaatu : 5/21/2022 2:00 pm
HA! Fooled your candy asses.

This Oregon Guy and Other Things.
(Sung to the tune of American Pie, by Don McLean).

A long, long time ago,
I can still remember how the pass-rush used to make me proud.
And I knew if they played it smart, and took good defense straight to heart,
They'd strengthen it again and win the crowd.

But Bradley Chubb was not to be.
They left Josh Allen for DC.
They could've drafted Oweh, but they decided "no way."

They lucked out in the second round, with Ojulari still around.
But much more help had to be found to make their pass-rush sound.

So in comes this new Oregon guy, With the talent and the swagger to make all our hopes high.
He's got me stoked, you know that I'd never lie,
And I think he'll make opposing teams cry. Yes I think he'll make opposing teams cry.

Did you see the smile on Wink, did the Cowboys draft board make you think that drafting Thibs was the way to go?
Now do you believe in Thibodeux, can he really make our pass-rush glow, can he lay opposing QB's really low?

Well I know he's got some work to do, 'cause he's still a rookie, yeah, that's true.
He's at the OTA's, and he's really drawing praise.
Even the vets are happy that he's here, and the New York press he doesn't fear, he'll kick the opposition in the rear, I think he'll make them cry.

'Cause in comes this new Oregon guy. We've been waiting for an LB to be drafted that high.
The last first-rounder worked out great, that's no lie,
And I think he'll make opposing teams cry. Yes I think he'll make opposing teams cry.

Now for ten years we've been pretty bad,
Just a laughing stock, that's freaking sad,
But that's not how it used to be.

When we lined up guys like JPP, and way before him, the GOAT, LT, had a rush that simply was so great to see.
Oh, and Strahan stomping people out, Tuck and Osi making QB's pout. Such legendary names, we were never out of games.

And while in recent years, we've flailed around, with guys like X and Carter in 3rd rounds, it seems like Schoen saw what's been going down, and went and got his guy.

So I'm singin' here comes this here Oregon guy. No denyin' Thibs I'm buyin', you know I'd never lie. He's just one man, but expectations are high, and I think he'll make opposing teams cry. Yes I think he'll make opposing teams cry.

Defense, defense, was our bread and butter,
But for too long it's been in the gutter.
Couldn't stop a single thing.

On the ground or in the air, teams could score from anywhere. What the heck could we do, 'cept stop and stare.
But now a brand new Sheriff's come to town, and we're expecting he won't let us down. He likes to bring the heat. That would surely be a treat.

He'll blitz at any time from anywhere, and if sometimes he gets burned, I don't care. Let them try and beat it if they dare. That soft stuff had to die.

So I'm singin' bye, bye wimpy defense, bye, bye. We'll be blitzing, you'll be "shitzing" as we spit in your eye. And, sure our Corners may make some of us sigh, them's the breaks, so suck it up and don't cry. Them's the breaks, so suck it up and don't cry.

Oh, the team is starting out from scratch, can't fix all at once, yeah, that's the catch. Had to leave the DB cupboard pretty bare. And so we'll struggle with some young DB's. Football God's smile on them, pretty please. We could use a little help back there.

And as we watch this team round into shape, let's see improvement on the tape. No fan could be glad with the last ten years we've had. But so far Schoen and Daboll look okay, seems like they've ignored "The Giants Way."
Are they right, well, we can only pray, at least they've got their guys.

So I'm singin' my, my this here Oregon guy. Plus the beast from Alabama, that's why my hopes are so high. Might take some time for this team to really fly, so be patient, I know that I will try. Just be patient, I know that I will try.

I met a Terp who sang the blues, and I asked him for some happy news, but he just smiled and turned away. I logged into BBI, to post some highlights, by the by, and to read what others say and add my thoughts.

And on the board I found some hope, and some with an emphatic "nope." Many words were spoken. A lot of fans seem broken.

But the one guy I admire most, who built a place for us to post, I sense he thinks the team is toast. But, dude, the end ain't nigh.

And my, my, these two Buffalo guys. Just begun, let's have some fun, and see just what next they'll try. I'm pleased so far, and expectations are high, and I think they'll make opposing teams cry...eventually...I think they'll make opposing teams cry.
Wow.

Nah. Just got hooked on the song parodies in Mad Magazine when I was a kid, like Weird Al.

yes, you can copyright the lyrics. But you can't use the music commercially without permission/paying a fee. Isn't that what Weird Al does with all his songs?

would be super impressed. AND he would say so. Since he was from the industry, he would know!
Dave, I wish I'd had the chance to meet MM in person..

As it happened we were both in Albany for Giants camp at the same time a couple of times, but I wasn't on BBI then and didn't know anyone. I'll always consider him a mentor.

Once, at the hotel I was staying at, I met a lady in the elevator, and we had a nice conversation as we walked from the hotel to the practice field and then went our separate ways. It was several years later, shortly before she passed, that I learned that lady was HopeJ.
