Mets Notes
Prior to the game, Max Scherzer was placed on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to May 19, with an oblique strain.
OF Starling Marte has been activated from the bereavement list.
RHP Jake Reed has been recalled from Triple-A Syracuse, RHP Adonis Medina has been added from Triple-A Syracuse and will serve as the team's 27th man for the doubleheader. INF Gosuke Katoh has been optioned to Triple-A Syracuse.
New York is set to play its MLB-leading fifth doubleheader of the season. It'll be the club's 19th doubleheader since 2021, nine more than any other team in the majors (Cleveland has played 10).
Mets are a season-high 12 games above .500. The last time they were 12 or more games above .500 entering play was when they were 87-75 on October 2, 2016.
the pitcher gets the error but Pete should have caught the ball. So Pete's defensive metrics on that play look fine, but he caused an error on a throw he should catch

There it is! I was wondering how long it was going to take you to start crying about that play. You never disappoint.
Buck had no intention of managing to win this game - he just cared about the B pitching squad eating up innings. All of it is a domino effect from Max and Megill.
I know this happens during a 162-game season, but I am of the mind you try and win every game and worry about the soldiers as you go along.
that again prove defensive metrics dont tell the truth about Pete. There was a hit the other day where Pete, again, ranged too far to his right and screwed up a routine play for the 2B. Keith said the Mets are working with Pete to try get him to stop doing that. It was another play that doesnt go against Pete's metrics, but it was a bad defensive play
Im trying to educate people who think "advanced stats" are how you make decisions. And it just cant be that way. You have to trust, and understand, what you see
The whole reason Dom is getting every chance possible to start hitting is because they want his defense at 1B

so yay analytics? https://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=1b&stats=fld&lg=all&qual=y&type=1&season=2022&month=0&season1=2022&ind=0&team=0&rost=0&age=0&filter=&players=0&startdate=2022-01-01&enddate=2022-12-31&sort=13,d - ( New Window )
Seriously Eric, you are smart enough to be able to watch a game and know what you are seeing WITHOUT having to wait for the analytics to come out the next day to tell you what you saw
People bought into these numbers as gospel and stopped trusting what they are watching
Now, some people here have no clue what they are watching, but you arent one of them. Trust your eyes!
RE: Its a 13 year old article from an analytics website
5th in wRC+
6th in runs
And thats with no DH, no offense from catcher, and many players still underperforming.
4th in FIP
4th in ERA

This is vague

He stinks. It’s hard having Escobar and JD Davis in the lineup at the same time, but it’s a doubleheader.
+1. I agree, I think they need another starter also.

defensive metrics have taken into account how first baseman field throws for more than a decade.

If you still think Pete is a good 1B after watching him for the last 3 years, then you dont have a clue what you are watching
Which we already know from your moronic love of every Alderson move
So analytics is finally catching up to reality!

your shitposting is both deranged and stupid. Hard to believe they are 13 games over .500 with so many moronic moves and the best player hurt.
I'll take that with what you consider to be a sub par defensive player who DH's part time

I would too. That isnt the point

You were probably writing this while I was creating the post above it
