I invest very little of my bandwidth in considering FIRST BEST, SECOND BEST, WORSEST, THIRD BADDEST because I have a second grader at home to worry about that kind of shit...I don't find it the least bit insightful. But Trouba has been pretty fucking good for this team.
Panarin again infuriating, just wont shoot. still too many times they try for the cross ice pass in the neutral zone or at the blue line, but overall a solid game.
Miller is a player. And he's only going to get better with experience. They have a nice top 4 on D
Nice seeing Braun with Schneider rather than Nemeth.

than some other sports, NCAA (where Miller played two years) is equivalent to minor leagues. So saying Miller didn't play minors (indicating he went straight to the NHL is accurate, but it is a little disingenuous.)
NCAA is rated above the OHL (the best of the Canadian Juniors leagues) and just below the AHL.

That play where he tried to toe drag around a sliding Smith or Skjei made me completely forget about his pass on the PP to Zib
RE: RE: You have zero qualifications to teach anything

You arent qualified to do any of it, not even close. In fact, I was also a stock broker and banker - two more things you could never do
I also didnt bring up your astro-physics degree nor did I thank you for your role in defeating Thanos. The Avengers never couldve done it with out your distracting the big guyy by reading your exhaustive resume.
Thanks for being a part of humanity.
This is a great post!! Literally spit my coffee out.
I just picture some guy in Mom's basement trying to figure out what next to add to his resume all while screaming up for more Cream and Wheat. RIP John Clayton - you've inspired at least one guy!

Wasn't it Panarin's pass to Mika that led to score one?
So we get a nice scoring play once every 4 games? K.
Kid line was great again. Kaako has to work on his shooting and getting it on net.
Miller played quite well. Boy do we need a guy who can win some faceoffs.
A certain someone may not want to hear it, but I think K'Andre has been our best/most consistent defenseman in the Playoffs thus far.
I love Miller and I think he'll be good in the NHL but he still has at least one play almost every game that reminds you he's a converted forward (and he shouldn't still have those IMO). Today it was the Svechnikov toe drag.
He's probably the most athletic player on the team, and he's got a rare combination of size, speed, hands I would almost want to see him back at forward, but it's been longer that's he's been on D then some people realize (it's been 6 or 7 years now, and those are basically full time years not youth hockey years).
I think Miller's going to be a stud. I think he's a solid second pairing dman now but he has one or two brain dead plays a game.
I agree with you on the F->D thing, but would add Burns took awhile to get going. Miller has elite raw skills, is getting better at the defensive reads, but still makes a handful of dumb plays a game - I'd add, though, that sometimes the forward makes the wrong read but Miller gets the blame. I think our forwards have been poor defensively at times this post-season.

To multiple questions by the beats, immediately after the game one-on-one on MSG feed, and then later for the wider presser, Kreider answered, parried, multiple questions with the same words: "We can't just sit back" (some formulation of that thought), at least six, seven times. He said the same in PGs in Raleigh, in Pittsburgh. He keeps saying it, as an individual, as a line, as a team, we can't play passive. What can possibly make that mindset so deeply ingrained that he has to try to talk himself out of it? And when you see him and Zib, side by side in their mutual admiration society, all soft and gooey, it strikes me as so complacent, as if they read their press clippings and are steeped in complacency. Instead, instead of getting full bore up and attack each and every game of each and every series. Or, because to some observers they shouldn't be here, were never expected to get to SCP let alone 2nd round, they're counting house money?
I was going to post something like this after Game 2, but it was already so negative here it would have been just throwing so much more gasoline on the fire. Someone dissed Brendan Smith and his gwg by saying, of all Canes the scrub scores it. He played d and filled in as F two years ago here. Left as FA (I think). When asked after 2nd period of Game 1 what the Canes had to do to get back in the game, he was full of fire and resolve. Boom. I wish some of NYR leaders in the room showed more of that fire, on and off.
Biggest knock on Kreider throughout his whole career is that he gets too deep into his own head. It's always been mental with him.
Will be interesting to see what Gallant does with the lines. Clearly feels the are better defensively with the lines that played in Carolina (and the shots on goal from yesterday bear that out). And the Mika line was the only one of the new lines that really worked

Good with that, Brett.
As I've said before, 2nd line, Copp excepted for most part, are the worst offenders at leaving too much open ice for their matched line to counter and cross BL pretty unmolested. 1st line is inconsistent, at best, Zib usually being honest two-way. Kreider does it at times, when he feels like it, and it's very noticeable when he does.
Kids are working hard all over the ice. 4th line, thank God Motte is back healthy, are with his exception just not that good. Rooney, Hunt, McKegg, et al., with Reaves with his unique skill set.
I thought Gallant's honesty about moving Copp down was interesting: needed to win some faceoffs. And Copp, as he has since he got here, did that, better than anyone else on the team. He could have left Copp on the 2nd line and had him take them; was his thinking he didn't want to embarrass a vet? Strome has been the ever shrinking 2C this season; his play has been uniformly poor, and part of the Artemi bashing--pretty deserved in his own right--can I think be laid at the feet of his C.
Team has hard work to do on its core if they hope to move up from Playoff team to legit SCP contender. A ++, two-way player at each of C, wing, LD. And Igor is going to have to be paid, when? Presumptive Vezina winner, Hart finalist.
I love Motte but I thought he played poorly yesterday.
He had a couple nice blacks at the top of the circles at the end, but I agree he didnt have his usual jump.
I havent thought Copp has looked the same at all this series. I think he has been better by his linemates, but HE appears to be playing a little banged up....he looks a little slow.
I cant figure out Kreider this series. He is misplaying pucks, I haven't noticed him being has physical either. Hopefully he wakes up, because we need him on both ends to be a load.
Copp is definitely playing hurt.. but that's the case with a lot of guys at this point.
I wonder if Goodrow has any shot of getting back soon.
The Rangers have played a much stronger, cleaner game so far in this series than what we saw through the first 3 games vs. PIT. A good bit of missed opportunities.
Carolina attempted a lot of shots yesterday, but very few were quality looks.
Keep playing this way and give 60 minute efforts and we'll win this series.
Fox looks old and slow. He has to be hurt or just the physicality has taken its toll on him. I agree on Kreider… he hasn’t been the same physical presence on the ice (especially in front of the goal).
on ice last week; Subban mashed him from behind, up high and low at back of his knees, just a weird play. But it was like 2nd game of the season, so beginning of October? Been 7.5 months. Standard 'recovery' is 6. Playing shape?
No idea the severity of the tear, but the gating factor is rehab/regaining strength, and that's player dependent, player specific. Wouldn't rule him out by default.

Frank, I think it was literally 2nd or 3rd game of the season; it stuck in my mind so cuz it was so early coming on the heels of much maligned Buch deal to malign it still more.
I thought sure it was the first Devils' game. My bad
I cheated CHP....went straight to the Google and it pulled up a Post article.
Thats the thing, while I understand that skaking does not imclude the abruptness nor need for explosion from the knee that football players need, I cant imagine he would be too comfortable taking a hit or if he slid into the goalie or boards....hes 25 and has his whole career ahead of him.
I would be shocked if he came back after 7.5 months.
Lindgren fan, but he has won me over this playoffs.
I think 1: seeing Nemeth take a regular shift helped Lindgren look better, but also 2: I'm a sucker for the grit/physical play - without being a punk - and the toughness of players in hockey playing through injury.
But I still would like to see Panarin on the 3rd or even 4th lines. Thoses have been quite active and he could find himself with quite a bit of space based on guys like Motte and Reaves digging out pucks. I would prefer not to break up the KIDS line, but think he could do well there too.

He's definitely more valuable than I thought.
The Rangers are a very, very noticeably different team without him. He's not the best player, but he carries immense value to this particular roster.
There's no one who can step in and do what he does. We lose a major edge.
He's probably my favorite Ranger at this point. Such a tough dude.

Chytil was a nice boost to Kreider and Zibanejad yesterday.
I like what Gallant did, and I think he will do it again. Makes them less predictable when it comes to matchups.

+1 to that and pj's taking notice (:
and not for nothing, Fox is a different player w/o him
not for the better; and seems sure he didn't fully heal

L8ndgren is Girardi lite (super lite). He takes a beating but is always going close to full speed. Only thing missing is Girardi would pop on in from the blue line once in a while.
came quickly for Girardi and it seems like fans don't have much time for nostalgia when players are past their prime and still drawing a paycheck, but in his prime Girardi was a shot blocking machine. Text book technique. He could put on a shot blocking clinic.
I don't see Lindgren like that - but Trouba absolutely is.
Anyway, when I think Girardi I think uncanny ability to block shots. I bet he is near the all-time leader in blocked shots.

I thought the same thing last night. So we're either both brilliant or both nuts.
"If his partner was even average.."????? That's a fucking ridiculous thing to say.
I invest very little of my bandwidth in considering FIRST BEST, SECOND BEST, WORSEST, THIRD BADDEST because I have a second grader at home to worry about that kind of shit...I don't find it the least bit insightful. But Trouba has been pretty fucking good for this team.

I think our forwards have been poor defensively at times this post-season.

Go Rangers
No idea the severity of the tear, but the gating factor is rehab/regaining strength, and that's player dependent, player specific. Wouldn't rule him out by default.

No idea the severity of the tear, but the gating factor is rehab/regaining strength, and that's player dependent, player specific. Wouldn't rule him out by default.
The Blais injury happened on November 14.

I don't see Lindgren like that - but Trouba absolutely is.
Anyway, when I think Girardi I think uncanny ability to block shots. I bet he is near the all-time leader in blocked shots.
Don't be ridiculous...
Rangers in 6.

He also had quite the underrated shot from the blue line.
He DID fall apart quickly.
I thought the same thing last night. So we're either both brilliant or both nuts.
