My son was at a football camp today and the Punter/Kicker coach was none other than Matt Dodge.
I rooted for the kid to succeed but I think NY was just the wrong place for him. Never seemed to handle the pressure well. He seemed nervous when he spoke in front of the crowd today too.
Anyways I just thought I'd share for those that wonder where people wind up.
My son said to me "Holy Shit Dad, thats the DeShawn Jackson guy"
He was only 6 when that game happened but its such a famous blunder everyone knows that play.
a cannon shot
And groan about that moronic defensive "strategy" that lead to that
I actually wish Coughlin took it a step further by ripping his helmet off, slapping him in the face and kicking him off the team right there.
I had a bad feeling with 5:00 left in the third, up 24-3, when Manningham with his whole body out of bounds somehow managed to fumble the ball back in bounds.
I had a bad feeling from the opening kickoff like I always do for Eagles games. But I did allow myself a sigh of relief at 31-10 with 8 minutes left. That lasted like what 20 seconds? Then it was 31-17 and they had the ball back. From there it was just a matter of how we were going to lose.
Pretty amazing to have a 21 point lead with 8 minutes left and lose in regulation.
The Giants collectively shit the bed that day.
Dodge shouldn't take the blame.

tackle & he went the distance.

Yep, I remember that. If it wasn't for that, I don't think Philly would have been able to get back in the game. It was such a wild swing to give them basically 7, that quickly and put them back into it. Even if we had punted, I don't know that they get back into the game.

He was pretty horrible all year though. He should have been cut before that game.
Why does this game make you guys sick so much?
Philly didn't win a single game after that.
The more embarrassing loss was against a 1-7 Romoless team that year when the lights went out. Coughlin should've been yelling in their faces that night. Actually, stopping the game and berating the players on a live mic would not have done that one any justice. But right. We got to talk about the Eagle 2010 game.
The Giants walked into Philly early the next year and an unknown Victor Cruz got two touchdowns on their trash can Dream Team. An underrated revenge game.
Who gives a fuck about that 2010 game?

That was the one for me too. Texted one of my buddies right at that point and said "we're gonna blow this"
We both knew.
During a four year stretch under Fassel ('97-'00), the Giants beat the Eagles eight times. The sportswriter who covered the Eagles for the Trenton Times wrote, "Everybody says Fassel is a bad coach. I've never seen the guy lose."
Those were the years.
"You could kidnap my dad and eat him for breakfast but if you catch or a throw a game winning TD vs the Eagles, I'm having leftovers for dinner at your place that same night!"
