NJ.Com predictions 2022

Hilary : 5/23/2022 6:30 am
The Eagles have done a good job of acquiring talent and picks but I think the difference between Dak and Hurts still leaves the Cowboys as favorites.

So, per King, if Jones is a middle of the road QB at best...

We win at least 7 games. Inspiring.
Looks like an

It should be a pretty good fight between Philly and Dallas for the

division, but neither is good enough to go very far in the playoffs.
I was surprised how well the Eagles OL did last year.....
George from PA : 5/23/2022 6:53 am : link
How does their line do it? On paper it's old, rail thin, and due to collapse.

Their success last year was due to their running game.....mostly due to OL.

I am hoping for an implosion.

And Hurts is a potential C+ QB and wins the division.? I guess oline and additional team talent does matter.
I don't see how other people aren't seeing the major flaws in Hurts
BLUATHRT : 5/23/2022 8:10 am : link
game. It doesn't matter if you have good receivers if your QB can't get them the ball consistently. I think the Eagles are going to be a surprise bad team. I think Sirianni is a clown of a coach who will be exposed this year. I Think Washington will actually be surprisingly good if Wentz plays like he did most of the year last year. I have little hope for our team this year. I think they go 6-11.

Remember, their rushing stats include 784 rushing yards at 5.9 a rush from Hurts’ scrambling and designed runs. That inflates their rushing stats and makes their OL look better than it is. Sure, it’s part of their offense but it comes at the expense of having a passing game that was ranked 29th in passing yards.
I am staying with my prediction
jvm52106 : 5/23/2022 8:40 am : link
this team goes 8-9 and if Jones plays pretty well you could flip those numbers.

We will know a lot more later on but, if our Pass Rush comes on like it could, then we can expect turnovers and good field position more often than in years past. If our Oline plays even moderately well, then we do have some talent (albeit needs to be healthy) in Barkley, Golladay, Sheppherd, Toney, Robinson, RS Jones and maybe even Slayton who in his rookie year had a major connection with Jones.

If Neal, Feleciano, and Glowinski live up to expectations we can do some things offensively we haven't been able to in years.

While odds are against it, Jones is set up to have the best chance he’s had to be a middle-of-the-pack quarterback. If he’s that, the Giants could win seven.
I think this site is falling into the same trap as last year
rich in DC : 5/23/2022 9:01 am : link
People are beginning to overvalue the talent on this team and building unreasonable expectations that this team won’t be able to meet.

Face it people, this season is going to suck. It won’t have anything to do with the front office or coaches, who will be an improvement over last year’s edition. However, the cupboard was not only bare when they inherited the team, it was filled with IOUs they’re still paying for.

2023 is probably the season to get excited about- but let’s stop with the .500 team expectations for 2022. Start preparing yourself for 4-5 wins.
Giants
Lines of Scrimmage : 5/23/2022 9:14 am : link
have 5 first round picks on the lines. They should and I think a good goal is to compete favorably on the LOS which makes them competitive.

The perimeter areas still needs work but you have some pieces and no top QB's in the division.

Great coaching and being healthy goes a long way. Giants have a big unknown in the HC right now. That can change.

There is not a clear cut top team in the east. Lots of things would have to go right for the Giants but that is why you play the games. Couple big injuries for any team changes the dynamic of that team and outlook.
so NJ.com just reprinted King's article from Pro-Football Talk?

It all comes down to Jones. If he progresses under this regime, the Giants will be in the playoff hunt IMO. Do I think that will happen? No. I think DJ is shot and a backup in this league but I would love for him to prove me wrong.

You can't put this all on Jones most are claiming this line if fixed, it's not and might look better on paper but you are counting on cheap Vets and Rookies.
Also Barkley and the Receivers have been underwhelming and hurt. TE ?
People are acting like we have All pros at every position and Jones just needs to show up to get 6 wins.
Everything needs to break right for this offense to be good and i mean middle of the road good
i am predicting 5-12, We have a weaker schedule on paper
MartyNJ1969 : 5/23/2022 10:46 am : link
Too many holes on this team and nowhere near the talent to compete.

100% agree here. The secondary is gonna get torched this year. If Giants Offense still can’t score 30 points, it’s gonna be a brutal season. Be excited to watch young talent on this team but don’t expect a bunch of wins.

You can put a lot of this on QB play. Joe Burrow just went to the Super Bowl with a terrible OL. He was the reason that team played well. If Chase was on the Giants do you actually think that he would have had that type of year with DJ throwing the ball? Absolutely not.

Maybe. I am a big fan of Burrow. He's probably my fave of all the contemporary QBs playing. But Cincy's success was NOT just on Burrow. Their OL was bad but it was better than the Giants. That's not even a question. Ja'Marr Chase and Joe Mixon are a pretty gigantic factor, plus underrated players in Tee Higgins and Chris Evans. They also have an established staff and a pretty damn good defense. The situations are really not all that comparable. All anyone is saying is that the situation around Jones has been pretty terrible, and he is better than what some fans give him credit for, and ultimately we still don't really know exactly what we have in him. He has displayed some bad traits yes obviously but he has a lot of good qualities as well. In a better and more stable situation there is no reason to be pessimistic about him improving his warts with better scheming and just growing/learning. At the end of the day if the Giants move on from him so be it, I'll root for the next guy up. But speaking in absolutes about him without factoring in everything else just seems stupid.

It matters every where else but on BBI. Here the arm chair GM's know better.

Losing Gettleman alone should be good for a bunch more wins but may have to wait until 2023 to truly count them...

I love how some people have such strong conviction that their guesses are correct and other people's are wrong. And as far as NJ.com goes, there used to be a time when media meant something because they had more/better information than fans did but those days are long gone.

We aren't even into camp yet and they're slotting the entire league 1-32 on the season? Why not start filling out next year's March madness brackets while we're at it.

I am very optimistic about the future
larryflower37 : 5/23/2022 1:04 pm : link
But it's not a 1 year rebuild and they have a ton of positions in transition. Especially the O-line with only 1 player that can really be counted on to perform at a high level out of the gate.
every year
djm : 5/23/2022 2:09 pm : link
there are teams picked to be bad that end up good and teams picked to be good that end up bad.

Why the fuck can't it be our turn.

Coaching, cohesion, synergy and maybe a little luck can turn this team around and now. Why not. I can't sit here without any hope in the spring. So don't try and stop me!
