you all thought Judge was the cat's ass too.

Win Dabol or you can cheer from the Rangers from your couch in a couple of years.

if it will translate into on the field success, but what a change from the previous regime Daboll and Schoen are. You couldn't find a more unlikable front office guy than Gettleman. Just a pompous asshole who talked down to everyone and was so out of touch with reality. Daboll and Schoen are at the very least likable guys and professionals. Gettleman was a total clown and while Judge wasn't nearly as much of a douche as Gettleman he wasn't winning any popularity contests either.
Daboll's from Buffalo
LIbud : 5/23/2022 4:24 pm : link
... blue collar guy, grew up a blue collar kid in blue collar Buffalo that loves their Sabres, hockey, etc. No surprise that he comes across grounded and real and down to earth. its probably how he grew up. Makes sense he'd get jazzed, and probably still thinks its cool he gets great seats.

Doesn't mean anything as results will matter but it all seems genuine, even him getting fired up at MSG for a playoff game.

The difference here is that Dabol was a successful OC
Rudy5757 : 5/23/2022 4:55 pm : link
currently operating in the NFL, Kafka was a QB Coach and a Passing game coordinator for one of the best offenses in the NFL and Wink has been a top DC for a long time.

The last regime was Joe Judge, Jason Garrett and Graham. Judge was never an OC or DC and maybe I missed it but he wasnt mentioned in a lot of Head Coaching vacancies and Garrett hadnt been an OC in a long time and Graham was OK as his first DC gig in Miami but they were all too happy to let him go. Graham was a decent DC I just didnt like his style of D though. We had hopes but there was no reason for it.

At least now there is real reason to be optimistic for the future but patience is needed.
Who is

Pat Shurmur was hired as Head Coach/OC coming off of a deep playoff run with Case Keenum as his QB. Mike Shula was Head Coach at Alabama and had been OC for multiple teams in NFL including Carolina when they went to Super Bowl. James Bettcher was thought of as a great hire because of what he did with Arizona's D. Don't go chasing names.

The Giants offensive rankings under the last 3 coaches

2021 - 31st in the league and 4,884 total yards (17 Games)
2020 - 31st in the league and 4,794 total yards

2019 - 23rd in the league and 5,416 total yards - DJs Rookie year
2018 - 17th in the league and 5,697 total yards

And for good measure Macadoo

2017 - 21st in the league and 5,028 total yards
2016 - 25th in the league and 5,291 total yards (OBJ had 1,367 yards rec)

DJ was a better player under Shurmur than Judge. He may not have been a good Head Coach but Shurmur is a good coordinator and the Giants O was better under him and its not close. I thought Garrett would be good at the time but he was too far removed from being an OC. I think if both staffs coached the same players Shurmurs staff would come out on top.

Gotta admit this is very true and sobering comment. So far his clothes fit, he hasn't changed his haircut, and we haven't seen a big menu in front of his face. That's about it . I m hopeful and optimistic but it's still May. I guarantee all these " gonna take a couple years fan" ( including me ) won't be so in love if we start off again 0-3.

Its more than just a little different. Daboll was an OC for a team whose offenseive ranks were at the bottom of the league before the last 2 years:

2021: 3rd in pts, 5th in yards
2020: 2nd in pts, 2nd in yards

Judge, while having a no nonsense personality, was a bunch of nonsense...includimg that stupid publicity stunt of his diving his fat ass into a mud pit to get a rise out of his team who never sniffed a coordinator position.

Daboll has some results in his 4 years as OC.
